Release Blitz: Nothing Personal by Karina Halle

It's just business, nothing personal.
Until you have to work with your ex.
Nothing Personal, an all-new standalone romantic comedy by New York Times Bestselling author Karina Halle is live!
Nova Lane is having the worst week possible. Her latest relationship ended while on her much-needed vacation, then upon her first day back at work, she learns that her beloved boss has quit – and despite having worked so hard for it, she's not being considered for his position.
Who is being considered for the position is none other than Kessler Rocha. Her ex-coworker and ex-lover, Kessler’s the man who broke her heart five years earlier and the reason she moved thousands of miles away, switched jobs, and created numerous voodoo dolls in Kessler’s (very burly, very handsome) liking.
Yup. Worst week ever.
New in town and on her turf, Kessler promises he’s not the same man he was – and considering he’s now a single father to a precocious toddler, he’s telling the truth.
But he’s still an arrogant, devilish and dangerously intelligent man who’s taking over the position Nova feels she deserves. The fact that he’s gotten even more sexy over the years doesn’t help either.
Now Nova and Kessler have the choice to let bygones be bygones, or fight with each other every chance they get, with unresolved sexual tension only adding fuel to the flames, creating a fire that might just burn down the whole office.
In the corporate world they say it’s just business, nothing personal.
Nova and Kessler are about to show just how personal things can get.

Review by Lisa Kane

Nova Lane is having a hard time again with her current relationship. Well, not so current anymore. While on vacation (she lives in Hawaii...I would Never leave there!) with her boyfriend Roger, he may have taken advantage of all that Vegas has to offer. Namely, one stripper who gave a great blowjob. Roger felt compelled to tell Nova all about his escapade withVegas Barbie.
This makes for one uncomfortable airplane ride back home.

The only silver lining in this whole thing is that I didn't love him.
I liked him but I convinced myself I liked him more than I did.

If she thinks her vacation went poorly, just wait until she finds out the surprise that awaits her at work.

Nova has worked like a dog to try to get promoted. When she finds out her boss up and left with no notice to move to Thailand to be with a porno star (?) she thinks this is finally the break she's been waiting for, but nope, the powers that be went with her runaway boss' suggestion and hired an interim manager to serve for the next three months. But wait, it gets better.

Kessler Rocha.
My ex-coworker.
My ex-lover.
My level-ten heartbreaker.

Kessler needs this job. His short lived career as an NHL player isn't going to support him forever. The company he's been with poses no challenge or real opportunity for growth. So when this job came along, he moved his son Hunter (now there's a whole crazy story behind Hunter) and moved to Hawaii. The only drawback to this is knowing Nova works there.

She was the girl that got away.
Okay, so she was the girl that I cut loose once I realized I didn't want any commitment from her and that things would be better for us as co-workers if we just stopped having all that hot sex.

Now I have to be honest, reading his thoughts on this didn't exactly endear Kessler to me.

As you can imagine, their first meeting after five years didn't exactly go over well.

But she takes one look at my smile, then another look at the sweat on my forehead, and her eyes narrow into a look I know all too well.
The look that tells me I'm dead to her.
Okay. So it looks like the next three months are going to be a living hell after all.

Kessler might be Nova's boss, but the chemistry between them is still there. Inappropriate? Yep, but it's there and there are plenty of moments where lines can get crossed.  And when they do, how will that affect them?

The idiot actually looks confused.
"You happened. Finger on the pulse? Knuckle-deep?"
"I thought it was funny."
"It wasn't funny!" I yell.
"Those are my bosses."
"They didn't know what I was talking about."
"It doesn't matter. You're my boss too."
"So I'm being inappropriate?"
"Hell yes you are. This is exactly why yesterday was a mistake."

Neither one of them is the same person they were five years ago. Kessler's life by necessity has to revolve around Hunter and Nova can see where she has been harboring resentment for years. But can she fit into Kessler's world and does she really want to?

"You're never the same after you get your heart broken. But if you're just lucky enough, maybe you'll find someone to help you pick up the pieces."
"Even if he's your level-ten heartbreaker?"
She kisses me. "Even if."
