Review by Jen Skewes

Leather Pants is exactly what I would expect from this author.  It was funny and sweet with the right amount of drama added in.  That is what I love about Mimi Jean Pamfiloff’s writing.  Leather Pants is a great love story that is filled with funny moments that will make you smile, a sexy hero that will melt your heart and a heroine that sometimes can be a little over the top but you still love her.

Sarah is a judge who takes her job very seriously.  She is really good at her job and people respect her.  It is what is most important to her in her life and she is working her way up to the next level.  When Colton Young lands himself in her courtroom (and not for the first time) she seems to get a little tongue-tied.  She is normally cool, calm and collected, but for some reason when the leather pants wearing sexy as sin Colton Young is in her court she loses all of her senses.  Words fly out of her mouth, that have no business being said to a defendant in her courtroom, which only embarrassing herself.   She should be reacting towards this man in a sexual way no matter how hot and sexy he is.  She is a woman in a very high position and drooling over a bad boy rock star could get her in so much trouble.

Fast forward to a night out with her best friend, after a few drinks, running into the sexy rock star himself.  Sarah is not the type of girl who goes out gets drunk and has sex with someone in the bathroom.  And we are not talking about just anyone.  No!!  We are talking about Colton Young himself.  The very man that she has to see in her court again and give him his punishment.  But she cannot help herself and for once she gives in to her feelings.  She has no idea what will happen tomorrow but let me say this.  It is not what she expected.  Her life from that moment will take a turn that she did not see coming.  She will see more of Colt in the future and she is not sure if that is a good or bad thing, but no matter what her career depends on it.

Colt is this very sexy rock star but he is nothing like you would expect him to be and that is what I loved about him.  The last year of his life has been a very difficult one.  It is one that he is also trying to remember and figure out.  In the mean time he tends to get himself into trouble with the law and lands himself in court once again.  Meeting Sarah helps him in so many ways.  She in some way is exactly what he needed. As they get to know each other a little more, Sarah does see a side of him that she did not expect.  But she is so confused by this man and still trying to figure him out.  She cares for him and wants to help him.  But there are so many reasons why she just needs to stay away, even if she doesn’t want to.  Colton Young is bad for her career and she soon finds out how bad.  Will she be able to save herself?  Will she ever see Colton for the wonderful person that he truly is or will it all be too late?

I loved this book.  The characters were perfect together.  Between the flirty banter and the sexual chemistry between them, you just knew that they were meant to be.  Colton completely surprised me.  He really was a great guy who is so different than one would expect him to be.  Sarah had her moments where she just frustrated me but I really loved her.  She was cautious at times but also saw things for what she thought them to be.  I loved the humor and wit in this book and there was just the right amount of drama to go with it.  It was great to see all of the fun characters from the first book and I cannot wait for more.  I am hoping that Jack’s story is next.

Release Blitz: The Wright Brother by KA Linde

twbbanner

I'd dated his brother.

He didn’t remember and I wish I could forget.

I may have sworn off the Wright family a long time ago. But when I returned home, Jensen Wright crashed into my life with the confidence of a billionaire CEO and the sex appeal of a god. Even I couldn’t resist our charged chemistry, or the way he fit into my life like a missing puzzle piece.

Too bad he’d forgotten the one thing that could destroy us.

Because Jensen Wright doesn’t share. Not with anyone. And if his brother finds out, this could all go down in flames.

When it all was said and done, was he the Wright brother?

Review by Lisa Kane

Emery Robinson is packing up and leaving her life in Oklahoma and going back to her hometown of Lubbock Texas. She’s had her world turned upside down when she literally caught her boyfriend Mitch’s hands up a student’s skirt. It’s like bad porn with the naughty professor and the seductive student. So the car is packed and she’s on her way back home.
It’s been years since she left town, right after Landon Wright, of the infamous fabulously wealthy Wright family, broke up with her on graduation day. She may have wondered about him over the years. But not fondly.

“I am not worried about running into Landon. It’s been almost ten years since we broke up.”

Once she hits town, her partner in crime bestie, Heidi has plans for her. One of the Wright’s is getting married and she’s dragging Emery there as her plus one. This new Emery bears little resemblance to the one who left town years ago. And she seems to have captured Jensen Wright’s attention. It’s obvious he doesn’t recognize her as the girl who dated her brother for over two years many years ago. Jensen may have been the subject of more than one hot dream when Em was growing up, but she can’t imagine he would look twice at her. But he takes more than a second look and there’s a little steamy encounter between them after a few cocktails at the reception.

Maybe a part of me was still thinking about that unattainable, hot college guy that Heidi and I had dreamed about in high school. Now, he was an even hotter billionaire CEO who was looking a whole hell of a lot more attainable.

This is where I get confused, the blurb made it seem like Jensen doesn’t know who Em is and if he found out, it would ruin things. But he finds out pretty quickly and it doesn’t turn him off in the least. It was years ago and ancient history.

“Emery Robinson,” he drawled. “Yes, I know who you are.”
“And, see, now, you’re not interested,” I said before tacking on a shaky laugh.
“Oh,” he said, his eyes intense and commanding, “but I am.”

Jensen is gorgeous, rich and jaded. He got burnt badly in his first marriage and Vanessa is the ex from hell. There’s more to that marriage than meets the eye and a whole lot of worms are going to come jumping out of the can. But I liked the intrigue and drama in this one. Jensen could be in danger of being too perfect, but seeing how vulnerable he is and how powerless he can be made to feel, made him a much interesting character.

He had touched my soul.
Devoured my heart.
And brought us both back to life.

I see Landon has his own book coming. I am not a fan of this guy. He married a total bitch who emasculates him, he follows her everywhere and seems to be blind-sided by her. I’m not sure why, but he has a long way to go before he gets his man card back in my eyes.

Blog Tour: Dear Agony by Georgia Cates

Dear Agony,

You've been my shadow, following me through childhood—filling my days and nights with terror and uncertainty. You cleverly disguised yourself as some form of pain or suffering as I grew into a young woman. We were unwavering companions … until I severed our ties.

I traded homelessness on the streets of New Orleans for a luxurious bed covered by the finest linens.

I traded dumpster diving for dinner in the finest restaurants.

I traded myself to a stranger—Bastien Pascal.

I have a good life within my platonic and mutually beneficial companionship with Bash.

He’s my friend. My mentor. My roommate.

Until everything changes.

I’m not supposed to get goosebumps when his hand brushes my skin.

I’m not supposed to be eager for his soothing touch following one of my nightmares.

I’m not supposed to think about what might happen if I reached out to him in the darkness.

Falling in love with him? Preposterous . . . unavoidable.

Agony, why are you back with a vengeance to rob me of this life I’ve come to love so dearly?

I’m finally happy. Don’t ruin this for me.

Always yours,

Rose

In this epic love story, Dear Agony forges a connection between an unlikely pair—a beautiful rose entwined in barbed wire and a shipwreck sinking into the darkest depths of the ocean. This agonizing romantic novel poses some gut-wrenching questions: What does a woman do when the man she loves is planning his own demise? And how far will she go to give him something to live for?

Review by Lisa Kane

Rose Middleton is homeless, hungry and hopeless. Dumpster diving keeps her from starving. When she’s approached by a sophisticated, beautiful woman with an intriguing proposition, her life changes. Vale from the Duets Foundation links wealthy clients with polished, educated woman. Men who are too busy to make their own contacts when they wish to entertain clients, attend events or have an attractive woman on their arm. Vale things Rose can be one of her girls.

A business deal. That’s all this is. That makes me a savvy businesswoman. Not an escort. Not a prostitute. Not a whore. Vale sees me so differently to how I’ve seen myself. Could it be true? Could what she’s offering allow me to start building a life? One that brings me happiness?

Vale takes a vested interest in Rose. For three years she grooms her, pays for her college education and houses her. She’s come to think of Rose as the daughter she never had. But her best friend and business investor, Bastien Pascal decides he will wipe away Vale’s considerable debt if she lets Rose be his assistant. He wants to be her client. Rose is less than thrilled about this turn of events.

Congratulations, Agony. You’ve managed to worm your way back into my life.

Rose and Bastien have a ton of chemistry. She has a hard time figuring out why a good looking, rich guy needs Vale’s services. But that’s because she doesn’t know what Bastien is hiding from her. Months go by and their relationship becomes complicated. This is when you are glad that Bastien exists between pages and words and isn’t standing in front of you or you wouldn’t be responsible for your actions…

“Your tragedy is completely your choice.”

Dear Agony has some tough parts to read through but it’s well written and has an intriguing plot. Can one person change the course of another’s life? Can they change what the other perceives is their destiny?

And then nothing remains between us. We become one. No beginning. No end.

Chapter 14

Bastien’s POV

Bringing Rose on at PPI has proven to be one of my best decisions ever. Not only is she the best assistant I could have hired, I get to have her near me all of the time. Win-win.

But not everyone is happy about Rose’s employment at the firm. Wendy is less than thrilled, but I’m proud of the way Rose handles herself. Kill her with kindness. That’s Rose’s MO where Wendy is concerned, yet she has this clever way of putting the woman in her place.

Rose is sitting on my office sofa. She’s in deep concentration reading the paperwork for PPI’s newest property so she doesn’t notice me looking over to steal glances at her.

That red dress fits her like a glove, showing just the right amount of leg. And those mile-high leopard-print heels . . . hot, hot, hot. I love having her at the office with me, but damn, she makes it hard to concentrate, especially when she’s working in my office instead of hers.

She looks up from the paperwork and opens her mouth to speak but stops when she catches me ogling her. She smiles and her brow wrinkles. “What?”

I shake my head. “I didn’t say anything.”

“I know. Why are you looking at me like that?”

I’m curious to hear how she perceives the way I watch her. “What kind of way am I looking at you?”

Her smile deepens and she glances away. “Never mind.”

“I want to know. How am I looking at you?”

She glances over at me and then down again. “Like you want something.”

The woman couldn’t be more right. I do want something. Her. “What do you think I want?”

She tilts her head to the side and grins as she nibbles her bottom lip. That lip I want to suck into my mouth and then bite and kiss at the same time because I can’t decide which I’d rather do.

“Tell me. What do you think I want?” I’m curious to see how far I can take this conversation. How much I can get her to admit about the way she interprets my gaze. She might be inexperienced, but surely she can see I want her.

Rose is so different from any other woman I’ve ever wanted. She’s delicate. Fragile. Innocent. She doesn’t know how to play the seduction game, yet she has seduced my heart, body, and soul.

I need her.

I want her.

I love her.

At age fourteen, Zelda Rossi witnessed the unthinkable, and has spent the last ten years
hardening her heart against the guilt and grief. She channels her pain into her art: a dystopian
graphic novel where vigilantes travel back in time to stop heinous crimes—like child
abduction—before they happen. Zelda pitches her graphic novel to several big-time comic book
publishers in New York City, only to have her hopes crash and burn. Circumstances leave her
stranded in an unfamiliar city, and in an embarrassing moment of weakness, she meets a guarded
"Where you are is home..."
young man with a past he’d do anything to change...
Beckett Copeland spent two years in prison for armed robbery, and is now struggling to keep his
head above water. A bike messenger by day, he speeds around New York City, riding fast and
hard but going nowhere, his criminal record holding him back almost as much as the guilt of his
crime.
Zelda and Beckett form a grudging alliance of survival, and in between their stubborn clash of
wills, they slowly begin to provide each other with the warmth of forgiveness, healing, and
maybe even love. But when Zelda and Beckett come face to face with their pasts, they must
choose to hold on to the guilt and regret that bind them, or let go and open their hearts for a shot
at happiness.
The Butterfly Project is a novel that reveals the power of forgiveness, and how even the smallest
decisions of the heart can—like the flutter of a butterfly’s wings—create currents that strengthen
into gale winds, altering the course of a life forever.

Review by Jen Skewes

Where do I even begin with this book, except to say that Emma Scott has done it again.  she quickly became one of my go to authors, one whose book I will read no matter what the blurb says.  She has this way of just making you feel all of these emotions while reading. being able to connect to her characters and feel with them.  the Butterfly Project was no different.

Zelda has just moved from Vegas to New York in hopes of fulfilling her dream.  She has written a Dystopian graphic novel that she hopes to have published.  But when her first meeting doesn't go so well she wonders is she is doing the right thing.  She can either pick up her things and go back to Vegas or put her big girl panties on, stay in a city where she knows no one, find a job, a place to stay and not give up o her dream.  I think a lot of people would just take the easy way out and head back to Vegas.  But Zelda is not most people.  When she meets Beckett at a restaurant they form a connection, an alliance if you will.  She has a proposition for him, which will allow her to stay in the big city, follow her dream and make a friend in the process.

Beckett is a bike messenger in the day and works at a restaurant at night.  He is just trying to make ends meets.  A few years ago he was sent to jail for 2 years and is now out on probation.  He has been living with the guilt of what he did since that day.  It wasn't something he was proud of but at the time it seemed like something that he needed to do.  He is still beating himself up over it to this day.  He meets Zelda and she makes him an offer.  she needs a place to stay and he could use the extra money to help pay the rent/  They form a friendship and are there for each other.  Two broken people, two people who are carrying around so much guilt.  While their pasts were so different I think they both understand the guilt that the other carries.  Together they are there for each other in any way that they can be.  They agreed to be just friends only, until that line of friendship starts to blur.  Zelda is still fowling her dreams, and the past has a way of messing up your present.  Will their past affect them from trying to move on?

This was a beautiful story of loss, love, hope, guilt and forgiveness.  Beckett was such an amazing guy.  He is so kind, and sweet and protective.  He has a huge heart and you see that over and over again.  He made a mistake a few years ago and he is paying for it in the form of guilt.  His past has broken him and I think in a way he is just lonely as well.  Zelda is a fantastic heroine who is strong but at the same time has her weak moments.  She too has blamed herself for something that happened in the past.  And while they both may know deep down that it was not their fault it does not take away the guilt that they have been carrying with them.  Together they learn to open up to each other and learn to forgive themselves.  They are just perfect together.  They were there for each other when they needed to be, in a way I think they were each others light.

Once again Emma Scott has given us a beautiful story that was written with passion.  She captivated me from the very start and made me feel with her characters.  Within her words, between the romance  and the love there is also a message to be heard.

"The Butterfly Project is a novel that reveals the power of forgiveness, and how even the smallest decisions of the heart can—like the flutter of a butterfly’s wings—create currents that strengthen into gale winds, altering the course of a life forever. "

We see this message through the actions of the characters.  How that one small decision had changed their lives.  How these two broken characters were brought together in this universe and through their smallest of  decisions they both learn how to forgive, and how to heal, former changing their life.  Another amazing story by Ms. Scott.

The Butterfly Project Excerpt:
“Why do you stay if it’s so hard to live here?” I asked.
Beckett took a drag from his cigarette, as if he were buying time before answering.
“Brooklyn, born and raised,” he said finally, still not looking at me. “Where else would I go anyway? Different city, same struggle.” He finally brought his gaze to mine. “So you’re getting out?”

“On the bus, tomorrow,” I said. “I can’t stay. I was here for a job interview—sort of—and it fell through.”
“What was the job?”
“You’ll think it’s stupid.”
“Yeah, I probably will.” His smile was dry.
I laughed a little. “Smartass. I draw graphic novels.”
He stared at me blankly.
“Long-form comic books that tell one continuous story,” I said. “Like
The Walking Dead?”
“Exactly. I have one mocked up and I came here to pitch it to a few publishers. They all rejected me. Well, one half-rejected me, but it doesn’t matter. I can’t stay in the city long enough to make any changes, and I wouldn’t know what changes to make if I could.”
Beckett studied the cigarette between his fingers. “Why can’t you stay?”
“Where do I start?” I ground out my cigarette under my boot heel. “My poor planning? My dwindling funds? The fact I was robbed today? Or that I was naively hopeful the publishers would adore my work and sign me on the spot? Take your pick.”
Beckett shook his head, his mouth turned down in his grimace. “Wait, go back. You were robbed?”
I nodded and waved away the last of the smoke, wishing my failure could be as easily dissipated. “I came here like a wide-eyed twit with a dream, and I crashed and burned.”
“You tried. That’s more than most people do.” “Tried and failed.”
“So try again.”

“I wish,” I said, letting my gaze roam over the dingy back alley. “I feel like I’m so close to breaking through. That last publisher gave me some hope. If I could pull a few weeks out of my ass, I’d have a chance. But it’s impossible. I have to go back to Nevada.”
“You don’t have friends or family nearby?”
Yes, and only two hours by train.
“No,” I said, and decided I’d said enough to a total stranger. The last thing I needed was the terrible homesickness to well up again. I stood and brushed off the ass of my pants. “Anyway, it is what it is. Thanks for the smoke.”
“Were you hurt?”
I turned, glanced down at Beckett. “What?”

“You said you were robbed,” he said, his voice low, his eyes holding mine as if he were forcing himself to hear this. “Did they hurt you?”
“No, I... No. I wasn’t there. It was a break-in.”
He leaned against the wall and his sigh plumed out in front of him in the cold air. It sounded relieved. “I’m sorry, Zelda.”
I frowned. “Not your fault. Like I said, the city kicked my ass. The sooner I get the hell out of here, the better for
all involved.”

Beckett ground out his smoke and got to his feet. He was at least six-two, yet it didn’t feel imposing to stand in his shadow. It felt...
Safe. I feel safe with him.
“Do you know how to get back to wherever you’re staying?” he asked.
“The same way I got here, only in reverse,” I said, covering my unsettling thoughts with sarcasm.
Because that was safe for me.

Review by Jen Skewes

I love a taboo romance especially when it is between a teacher and her student, and there is an age difference between the two of them.  Throw in a sexy, sweet and swoon worthy hero that is also written by Carina Adams and you have another fantastic book.  It is no secret how much I adore this woman and once again she delivered a book that I loved.  She made me laugh and smile and fall in love with yet another one of her heroes.  I think with each book of hers I find myself a new book boyfriend to love, but just as a side note I think Matty will always be my favorite.  But Lucky Chance is definitely up there.

Sunny and her best friend decide to go to Hooligans for a night of fun.  And a night of fun is what she finds, in the form of one very sexy and young bartender.  From the moment they meet you can feel the chemistry between Sunny and Lucky.  She is feisty and beautiful.  He is sweet, but at the same time cocky and sexy.  They both agree that it is nothing more than a one night stand and in the morning they will go their separate ways.  But when it is time to say goodbye it is harder than either one of them thought it would be.

Weeks go by and niether one of them can stop thinking of the other.  Then fate steps in and brings the two of them together again, except it is in a way that they did not expect, a way that makes the two of them being together completely impossible.  They agree to one more night and then to move on, except after that they both want so much more.  She is his teacher and getting caught could mean losing her job.  He is a star football player and he could lose his scholarship.  Is the risk of being together worth it?

I loved this book.  It was a light and fluffy read that just makes you feel good.  There was just the right amount of drama and a small look into Lucky’s past which is just enough to make you love him and understand him.  Lucky knew what he wanted and he went for it, regardless of the consequences.  His feelings for Sunny were so strong that he couldn’t let her go and I loved that about him.  He was sweet, kind, protective, funny and oh so sexy.  I swear this man had “dirty talk” down to a science.  My goodness he could talk dirty like no other.  Their chemistry was off the charts and together they were HOT!!!  I loved the flirty banter between the two of them.  Sunny was the perfect match for him.  I cannot say enough about this book.  As always Ms. Adams captured me from the very beginning.  I could not put this book down and when it was all over I wished that there was more, and that's only because I did not want to say goodbye to these characters.  Another fantastic job by Carina Adams.

Leddy Harper has done it again. I swear each book just keeps getting better and better.  With every book I read of hers I fall in love with the story and the characters.  This book I think is very different form her others. It had its moments that were completely raw and an intensity that was not only between the two characters but the storyline as well.  It was certainly an outside of the box kind of book and I loved every minute of it.

Killian was just a boy when his life was completely shattered.  After that moment everything about his life was painful and tortured. He was the eleven year old boy whose life changed in an instant.  A little boy who was silenced by a horrific event that left him completely broken.  Until he met his next door neighbor Rylee. She was the girl who would become his best friend and as time went on she would become so much more.  She was his breath of air, his reason for everything, the girl he loved from the moment he saw her.  The girl that he was meant to love forever.  And in a way she was his voice because she was the only one he could truly open up to and trust.  She gave him life.  But at the age of 18 that all changed leaving Rylee completely broken hearted and Killian searching for not only redemption but his voice.

It's five years later when they meet again and Killian will do whatever it takes to prove his love to Rylee.  Yes he broker her heart and hurt her but in his mind she has always been his. And he will prove it no matter what it takes.  He will prove that everything he has ever done has been for her.  But will it be enough?

I'm not sure I can put into words what this book did to me. Killian was this little boy who had been through so much pain and hurt.  And that moment when he described in detail what had happened my heart broke for him. I think it more than broke because that moment just killed me.  It made me just want to love him and hug him. As you see him grow older you see the man he becomes. At times he was intense and at times angry and you wondered how he became this person, but you understand why. You understand where the anger comes from and you love him anyway. You love him because of everything that he has endured in the past 15 years and despite the pain and the anger he has survived it all.

Rylee was one of those heroines that you just loved.  For one,  she never judged Killian. She loved him and cared for him and was like his angel.  She knew him better than anyone and even as they are older she knows the real Killian and sees beneath all of his layers.

I loved their relationship and at times when they were together it was so raw and so intense.  And that's what I loved.  It was filled with so much emotion and passion that I felt how much these two were truly connected.  I felt their emotions, their pain and their hurt but most of all I felt their love for each other.  I loved the roller coaster ride that this one took me on and the twists towards the end.   It was an amazing story filled with passion, and pain and love.  It will break you at times but in the end you will feel completely whole again.  What a fantastic job by Ms Harper.
