Racer, an all-new standalone in the Real Series from New York Times bestselling author Katy Evans is LIVE!

A bad boy with something to prove.
A woman with a mission.
The race of their lives.
The love of a lifetime.
I don’t think his parents expected him to live up to his name—Racer Tate—but once he felt the adrenaline rush behind the wheel, he was addicted.
He's the fastest, fiercest driver around.
Scouting new talent brings me to his doorstep...
but his smile sends me to my knees.
The sexy, mysterious Racer Tate is not the kind of man a girl like me falls for. He's secretive, reckless, elusive. But his proximity pushes me beyond reason, and his kiss....
This is our last chance to win, and he is our only hope. I'm supposed to watch him—make sure he doesn't get into trouble. But it's an impossible task. And now the one in heart wrenching, toe-curling, soul-crushing trouble is me. Because when your heart belongs to someone, their truths become your own, and their secrets become your salvation...or your curse.
He says he wants me. He says I'm the One. But he also thinks he'll break my heart, one piece at a time until it's gone.

Review by Lisa Kane

“Every wave is worth it because one wave doesn’t reflect the whole ocean.”

Lana Heyworth Is struggling to find a racer for her family’s Formula team. HW Racing Team is  barely making ends meet and their glory days of Formula racing seem to be behind them. But Lana is determined to find The racer, the one that will save their business.

Racer Tate is the hottest thing in street racing this country has ever seen. When Lana and Racer meet-well let’s just say Tate has no self-esteem issues. There just may have been a little collision that is par for the course for Lana’s driving. She literally crashes into Tate’s life.

“You little witch, you crashed my single party.”

Tate isn’t one to let an opportunity get by him-he just needs to convince her that his mad street racing skills can make a smooth transition to the racetrack circuit.

Taking a chance on Race to be the one to save the company seems fool hardy. But Lana’s faith in his talents –both on and off the track- lead her to give him a chance. Racer can’t explain his feelings for Lana-it seemed pretty much from the first time he set eyes on her that he knew she was the one for him. Lana is much more reserved-she’s loved and lost and isn’t about to throw her heart away.

She’s worried about me. I know. She’s lost love once-and though I know she knows we wouldn’t have found each other otherwise, it hurts her and it hurts me to know she fears losing me too.

No story about Racer Tate would be complete without mentioning his father Remington. He doesn’t fight anymore and is still married to the love of his life. He makes a few appearances in this book, enough to remind us why we fell in love with him all those years ago.

“Almost thirty years together. My dad’s in his early fifties. Never looked at another woman after he met my mom.”

Racer may be tearing up the race track and blowing away the competition but he has a weakness. Lana may be the one he believes is the girl for him, but will she stay the course when life and secrets threaten to destroy what he is working so hard to build?

“No one can break your heart as hard as I’ll be able to break it. No one could possibly ruin your life the way I can.”

Racer has a tendency to be a little over the top with his alpha tendencies; he is truly his father’s son.

“He wants what’s mine!” he growls.

I have to admit, I wish he would tone done the cave man attitude a bit. But just like Brooke before her, Lana seems to thrive on it. Will Racer and Lana be able to capture lightning in a bottle like Brooke and Remy?

I never thought something so perfect, so lovely, and so damned sweet could ever be mine. Could ever love me like she does, accept me as I am, want me back.

Excerpt:

I’m still reeling. While people approach him, he cuts a path straight to me, his gaze penetrating and target-like; making me want to bolt.

His lips do that little upward tilt they do that seems so sexy, and for a second, I feel like I’m lightheaded.

I gulp, and then feel mad at myself for acting like some idiot as fucking devil-Racer Tate reaches me, throws himself into a seat next to me, and turns to look at me expectantly with the most gorgeous grin on his face.

I don’t know what to say.

This guy has left me sort of speechless.

“So … ” I say, staring in the distance at his beat-up mustang, then at him.

“So … ” he says too, in his deep voice, his smile a little more wicked than it was two seconds ago. He glances at my mouth.

Oh god.

Why am I licking my lips?

It only made his eyes narrow and darken.

I open my mouth to speak, failing to find words. He smells like sweat and soap and shampoo, and I feel my traitorous nipples push up to my top again. Why do they do that when he’s around?

“This is illegal,” I state.

His voice is husky from exertion, and his eyes glint with laughter. “That’s why it’s fun.”

I look away from his eyes, trying to focus and clear my head. He leans over and peers into my face, his face shadowed by the moonlight and his jaw now carrying a little scruff. “Are we in agreement?” he presses.

“No.” I glare and shake my head, meeting his cocky gaze. “You’re reckless, Racer.”

“So are you, Alana.”

“It’s just … Lana.”

His brows fly up in surprise. “And a bit of a liar too.”

I purse my lips, still glaring as my gaze goes back to his car. Girls are rubbing against it as if it were him, and I find it disgusting. Why are women always acting so slutty around race car drivers and bad boys?

“You crashed your car,” I say flippantly.

“You crashed my car,” he contradicts, amused.

I laugh, then scowl in his direction. “You crashed it more. I can’t believe you were making such a fuss about me crashing into you when it was just a little kiss—”

He leans in to peck my lips—fast but firmly. “That’s a kiss.”

I lose my breath.

My eyes wide.

He eases back, lips smiling as he comes to his feet and stretches his hand out to take me by the elbow and help me to my feet.

“Let’s get out of here.” He starts walking, leading the way.

“And go where?”

“Anywhere I can get my hands on you.”

Review Blitz: The Learning Hours by Sara Ney

He’s not a douchebag;
but that doesn’t stop his friends from
turning him into one.

MY FRIENDS WANT ME TO GET LAID.

So much so that they plastered my ugly mug all over campus, in bold printed letters:

Are you the lucky lady who’s going to break our roommate’s cherry?

Him: socially awkward man with average-sized penis looking for willing sexual partner. You: must have pulse. Text him at: 555-254-5551

The morons can’t even spell. And the texts I’ve been receiving are what wet dreams are made of. But I’m not like these douchebags, no matter how hard they try to turn me into one.

THIS ISN’T THE KIND OF ATTENTION I WANT.

One text stands out from hundreds. One number I can’t bring myself to block. She seems different. Hotter, even in black and white.

However, after seeing her in person, I know she’s not the girl for me. But my friends won’t let up—they just don't get it. Douchebags or not, there's one thing they'll never understand: GIRLS DON’T WANT ME.

Especially her.

Review by Lisa Kane

This review is a little vague because we have been instructed not to divulge who the book is about. Let’s just say that this athlete has problems getting girls. He doesn’t show that it bothers him, but his teammates give him a lot of grief about it. Posters start popping up around the stadiums with his picture and phone number and things about getting him laid. He is the topic of conversation and he’s not comfortable with any of this.

Enter a feisty red head, she likes what she sees and she wants to get to know this mystery character. But she uses a little deception to get in touch with him.

“You’ve never given a guy a fake name? Shit, I do it almost every weekend.”

After lots of angry responses due to the unwanted texts from the hottie redhead, she finally breaks through his barriers. But he’s not exactly eager to jump into a relationship-although he is pretty eager to jump into bed.

“Girls are throwing themselves at you.”

“So?”

“So?”

That’s how we met, why do you care?”

“Because.” I huff, exasperated. “That’s how we met.”

I’m a big fan of the first two books in this series-I didn’t find myself invested in the characters in this one as much as I loved the others.

“She’s not your girl.” “She’s mine.”

He’s seated at a table in the far corner when I spot him from the door. He’s not hard to miss—not with his purple t-shirt in a sea of black and yellow, and wavy mussed hair.

He’s slouching, hunched over his table.

Defeated. Tired.

My stomach rolls with nerves, nerves that have me rooted to the spot in the doorway, watching him.
Just watching.

For the entire four minutes I stand here, he sits immobile, studying his laptop, eyes moving along the screen, completely transfixed by whatever he’s reading.

Learning.

“Just go over there,” I whisper to myself, blowing out a puff of pent-up air.

I put one foot in front of the other and begin toward him, spine ramrod straight, steeling myself, prepared for another argument.

Twenty feet.

Fifteen.

Eight.

Two.

“Hi.”

No reply.

“Do you mind if I sit here?” I lay my hand on the back of the wooden chair across from him, intending to pull it out.

He stiffens but doesn’t lift his head. “Yes I mind.”

“Would you mind if I sat at the table next to you?” I’m pushing his buttons, looking for a reaction, but he only spares me a brief glance.

Shrugs. “Free country.”

I bite my lip to hide a smile, glad he didn’t tell me to take a hike...

Release Blitz: Sack Time by AM Willard

Cover Design: MadHat Books
Release Date: September 27, 2017

Synopsis

Rules have never been more fun to break…

Sherry

I’m going to die an old maid with ten cats… Oh wait, I already have two…
I’m never going to feel the arms of a man around my waist again… Well, that’s what I thought until a pair caught me from face planting on the floor of my OB/GYN’s office. I didn’t even notice that my paper gown was open, showing off my double lattes to the man I was least expecting… Greyson Davis is the reason I need to set boundaries and rules—rules that I can’t break.

Greyson

The first thing you’re taught in ethics class is not to fall for a patient. They don’t teach you how to not fall for one, just said that you shouldn’t. Everything changed the second I walked in to see my sixth patient of the day. That’s when I set eyes on the sexy blonde bombshell who would cause me to break every rule ever written.

Review by Lisa Kane

Sherry Wilde thinks she’s going to see her regular gynecologist to get her birth control pills renewed. But comes to find out it’s his drop dead sexy gorgeous son who is now heading the practice. Dr. Greyson Davis can’t take his eyes off the beautiful blond in front of him, but the moment she opens her mouth he knows this isn’t going to end well.

“Miss Wilde, I’m Dr. Davis. Jr., and it’s a pleasure to meet you.” The deep, raspy voice booms throughout the tiny space causing me to fly up straight, halfway falling off the table.

Sherry is determined to high tale it out of there. It’s bad enough Greyson has already gotten a gander at her girls. Not that she caught him staring at her boobs, he couldn’t help but get a peek as she was undressed waiting for her usual doctor. That is while she was napping. Again.

I liked coming here to see his father; he’s old, and it’s not weird when he’s down in between my legs looking around the tunnel of love for issues.

Sherry has her best friend, her cats a dismal job at a realtor’s office and her volunteer work at the animal shelter. She’s a bit of a recluse, her best friend Ava is pretty much the only one she opens up to-her circle of friends is pitifully small.

So far, I’m twenty-five-years old, single have a job that I hate, and a diploma hanging on my wall to remind me of a life I used to want.

The last thing she needs or wants is to have her thoughts consumed by her new hot doctor. It’s not ethical and she needs to shut it down.

Greyson Davis is so far out of my league that it would never work.

Sherry intrigues Greyson, although she falls asleep just about every time he sees her. He wants to find out why that is and see if he can help. Her sleeping condition takes up a good part of this story. To be honest, too much of the story. When the cause is finally revealed, I felt like it was much ado about nothing. But the funny banter between the couple kept me reading and I did enjoy their story. There’s a little bit of angst to mix it up.

Seems I’m good at making mistakes. It’s just not meant to be with Sherry, and I’m moving on.

Sherry is a tough cookie; I know she has her reasons for guarding her heart, but she is like an armadillo. Plates surround her emotions and it takes a lot to break through her shell. Greyson has more patient than I could have been.

Could she be my forever or just a roll in the sack from time to time?

Review by Lisa Kane

I love hot football romances! In real life, I don't even watch football, but for some reason those wide shoulder pads, tight abs and thick thigh encased uniforms check off all my boxes!

Lucas Carrington has dreamed of this day. The day he will get drafted to play for the Patriots. He and his older brother have sacrificed everything to get to this point. So when a twist of fate leads to Lucas being drafted as the new quarterback for the Chicago Bears, he sucks it up and accepts. He wants to get out of Chicago, but it looks like he is here to stay. But his crappy attitude just might lose him his big chance.

When it turned out football contracts weren't as ironclad as I had so naively thought, I got a new and improved attitude, and fast.

Gillian Whitney is almost done school. She'll have her doctorate in athletic training and more than likely will lead a normal life other than in football. That's what her father wants for her. She, on the other hand, was raised in the world of football, her dad was a former hot shot player and is now the coach for the Bears.

Football wasn't an option, though. Even if I could get a permanent job in the field, my father insisted I stay away from it. He didn't want me spending anymore of my life on the road. The guilt he felt for the years we'd done just that was enough to make me agree, even if begrudgingly so.
Personally, I'd love every minute of it.

Lucas and Gillian's first meeting is unconventional to say the least and he gets injured as a result.

"Hey, there, Strawberry Fields," he said, with a wink.

Gillian feels a ton of guilt since it kinda sorta was her fault and she's determined to get him back in fighting shape. Lucas might be attracted to her, but she's the coach's daughter and def off limits!

This insanely hot, flirty, bold player with a brooding side was my father's golden egg.

Work together turns to playing together which means hiding out their relationship together. How can they keep business separate and still be together? There's lots of angst and heartbreak. Score!

Closer. I needed to be closer. I leaned my forehead against hers. "Please, Gillian, tell me what I need to do to make things right and I'll do it. Anything. I swear."

Disappointed, she unwrapped her arms from her body, and then
pivoted on her toe in the direction of the open door. “Then it looks like we
have nothing further to discuss, Lucas.”
I reached for her and tugged her to me. “I don’t want to
want you,” I breathed, my mouth hovering just centimeters from hers.
Gillian tried to pull away, but not whole-heartedly. If she
wanted me to let her go, I would have, but I knew she didn’t. “Then stop,” she
sighed.
I took her face in my hands. “I can’t. I don’t know how to.”
“Neither do I,” she whispered.
Unable to stop myself, I crashed my lips to hers and drove
my tongue into her mouth to retrace every inch that I had explored days ago.

Review by Jen Skewes

When I signed up for this one, I honestly had no idea who this book was about.  All I saw was that it was a new SL Scott book and said "yes please."  As I was reading I realized that the hero, Jason, is the same Jason from The Kingwood Duet.  It wasn't until and old friend came to visit him that I realized who he was.  The light bulb went off and was excited to find out it was him.  This does not mean that you have to read that series first, because you don't.

Jason and Delilah were high school sweethearts.  They're love was real and once that they both thought would last forever.  But when misunderstandings, and lies from people who they were supposed to trust broke them apart, Jason left town.  It's four years later and Jason is back in town.  He tries so hard to keep Delilah off his mind and not break down and go see her.  But his attempts fail, when he finds that she is newly single.  She is the love of his life, always has been, but he didn't have plans to stay.  But that may soon change as he begins to spend more time with her.  At first they agree to take things slow but at one point these two were in love and that love is still there.  But an ex husband who still thinks of Delilah as his, and he may get in the way.  Will these two get the second chance that they deserve?

I loved Jason, he was sweet and sexy and loved Delilah so much.  To me personally, I think he was different than the Jason that we saw in the Kingwood Series.  But at the same time I understand him in a way that I didn't when I read that series.  I loved to see what he went through and how he got to be the person he is today.  He was such a hard nut to crack when I first met him but I understand why. I love him.  I loved how much he adored Delilah, how much he wanted to protect her.  And loved the two of them together.

Delilah has been through so much since Jason left town.  But even at the end of their relationship she went through a lot as well.  I felt so bad for her.  A broken heart and then someone so close to you feeding you lies that caused even more pain.  But Jason coming back into her life gave her the happiness she deserved.  I gave her life again.

I really enjoyed this book.  I loved Delilah and Jason together and felt how much they loved each other.  I think that at times the pace was a little too quick considering all that Delilah went through but Jason was the love of her life, the person she always felt safe with.  I wanted a little more depth where their feelings and their past were concerned but overall I loved it.  I read it in one sitting.  Great read.

EXCERPT
I used to think she couldn’t resist me, but she had no problem earlier this week. I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve when it comes to Ms. Noelle. Let’s see if she still can. “I’ll be right back.”
“What?” my mom asks, watching me get out of the car. “Where are you going? The light’s going to turn green any second.”
I keep walking.
She sees me. Even though her pretty eyes are hidden behind big sunglasses, I can figure they’re probably damn wide right now. Reaching for the truck door lock, her finger pushes it down just as I arrive. She can kid herself like that. She knows deep down that I’ll never hurt her, but I might pressure her into giving me a little of her time.
Standing on the other side of her door, I knock. Delilah finally looks up and points at the light. It’s green. I shrug. I make the lame twist of the wrist roll down your window motion with my hand because I have a feeling she might not understand if I pretend to push a button to roll it down.
“Get back in your car, Jason,” she says through the glass.
“No. Roll down your window.” To sugarcoat it, I add, “Please.”
“Why?”
“What do you mean why? I want to talk to you and I don’t want shout through the glass.”
Huffing, the glass slides down slowly. “What is it?” She keeps her hands on the steering wheel and her grip seems to tighten just a bit.
She glances my way, so I say, “I want to see you.”
“You’re seeing me, Jason, so if that’s all there is, I’ll be going no—”
The glass starts to roll up, but I clamp my palm over it. She releases the button and looks up at me. “I don’t know what happened the other day, what turned your mood so quickly, but I’d like another chance for us to talk this time.”
“It’s not a good idea.”
“It’s a great idea, actually. All you have to say is yes.”
“No.”
My smile tilts into a smirk. “You haven’t changed much.”
“Then you haven’t been paying attention.”
