Blog Tour: Until I Met You by SL Scott

RELEASE DAY: OCTOBER 23
Their love burned bright, white hot, and strikingly blue around the edges.
Some thought them careless.
Some thought them crazy.
No one approved.
Taylor Barrett was looking for answers in a universe that had abandoned him.
Jude Boehler flooded her dark world with charisma and mystery, drawing everyone into her hurricane.
It was a most captivating of love affairs. They were shooting stars, meteors in the sky, colliding to create a spectacularly wonderful reckless romance, leaving them breathless and tethered.
But that’s what Love does.
Their souls were exposed to the chaos, bare and vulnerable. Can these two star-crossed lovers survive the madness that is life?

5 Star Review by Jen Skewes

Oh My God!!  This book has my emotions all over the place.  When I read the blurb I thought this would be a fun sexy read, but I was so wrong.  And to be honest I am so glad that I was.   This book was nothing of what I expected but I mean that in a really good way.  I loved every thing about it.  It is different from Ms. Scott's other books but so worth the emotions that you go through.  From the main characters love story to the drama, the angst and the suspense.  I could not put this book down and when I was done I wished there was more.  That is how much I loved this book.

Taylor is the gorgeous man with the impossible hazel eyes.  Judith is the double dipper who has been under her parents lock and key for some time now, for reasons that I will not give away.  They are both broken in their own way.   When they meet at a party there is an instant connection.  It’s as if they have known each other for years.  They spend one amazing week together, but when that week it is up Judith disappears and Taylor wonders if he will ever see her again.  When Jude shows up again they may not have a lot of time to spend together but they both take what they can get.  They take the stolen moments just so they can be near each other and feel each other.  If Jude’s family found out about her whereabouts she would be ruined.  She is not willing to take that risk where her relationship with Taylor is concerned.  But over time as these two fall for each other hard, they will have to fight for their love.  Her family thinks she is crazy, but Taylor, knows the truth.  When it comes time to fight will Taylor’s love for Jude win over her family?

There is so much to this story that I do not want to give away at all.  So I am not really going to go into the plot any more than I already have.  This book has it all,  drama, angst, hurt, pain and two people who undeniably love each other with their whole heart.  I could not put this book down.  From the moment I read the first page to the very end I was completely submerged in Hazel and Jude’s story.  I loved these two so much.  They have become one of my favorite couples.  Parts of their story just broke my heart.  To see everything that Jude has been through in her life will pain you.  But she has come this far and is one strong woman.  Hazel is battling with his own issues that will make your heart hurt for him. He has his own secret and is afraid that Jude will run if he tells her.  But the thing between this beautiful couple is that their love for each other is unconditional.  It doesn’t matter how broken they are, or what happened in their past.  There love is real and they will stand by each other and love each other no matter what.

I felt so much while reading this book.  I felt sad, disgusted, happy, but I also felt so much love.  It felt like Hazel and Jude had this fairy tale love story but at the same time it was so real.  There was this young innocence and vulnerability about the two of them at times that just made me want to cry for them.  Maybe it was because Jude was young.  Despite everything she went through she was still a young girl who lived a life without the love and happiness she deserved.  She lived her life being someone that they wanted her to be instead of the person she was.  When she was with Hazel she was alive, and carefree. She was the person that she was meant to be.  And while Hazel grew up with love he too is broken for his own reasons.

"Jude?"
"Yes?"
"Do you think any less of me now that you know?"
He loved that she didn't hesitate to answer.  "I think more of you now that I know."

You read that and you’re heart breaks but at the same time it makes you smile.  You know and understand where this is all coming from.  Hazel feels just as broken as she does.  And not having her in his life would crush him.  But their love is not just one sided.  Hazel loves her in a way that no one ever has.  He makes her happy, something she has not been in a long time.  He loves her, wants to protect her and most of all he believes in her.  And that was everything,.

"Do clouds have souls, Hazel?"
"Yes.  How else would they hold their sadness in until the next time it rained, jude."

I don’t know why but this is one of my favorite quotes or moments from this book.  I cannot explain why and you will probably have to read it to even understand.  I think it shows her innocence in a way.  When we first met Jude she was a bit quirky and you wondered why she was that way.  Until you see what she went through and then you begin to understand.  I think that what I loved so much about these two is how wise they were but yet how young they were.  It was the deep connection that they had but also the sweetness to their relationship.  They knew from the moment they met how they felt about each other.  And while I am not always a fan of insta-love this never felt like that.  It felt exactly as Hazel said “Like they knew each othr their whole lives”

This book is beautiful and heart breaking but in the end will leave you with a huge smile.  This is one of those books that you will devour in one sitting.  There were moments where my heart was pounding and I was nervous to see where the story would go.  I wasn’t sure how they would make it through.  There is nothing better than reading a book and not wanting to put it down.  When this book was over I wished I had time to go back and read it all over again.  That is how much I loved it.  It has stuck with me for days.  What an amazing job by SL Scott!!!!!  A Must read

 Excerpt:
“Do you want ice cream?”
She hit him with one surprise after another, and he replied, “It’s freezing out here. How about a coffee?”
“I don’t like coffee.”
“Wow, a New Yorker who doesn’t like coffee.” Taking her by the arm, he stopped her. “Are you going to tell me anything about yourself?”
“I just told you I don’t like coffee. That’s something.”
He sighed. “I’m serious, Jude.”
His emotional sigh was wearing on her and she gave him the most honest answer she could. “Not if I can get away with it.”
He looked into her blue eyes. Under a bright fluorescent light of a convenience store, he could see they were tinged in green with champagne centers. They were the most unique eyes he had ever seen. She was the most unique woman he had ever met. Now he felt bad for making her unhappy, so he broke his gaze away. “Fine. I’ll limit my questions.” And just to see her smile again, he said, “Ice cream it is.”
She jumped for joy. “I know a great place a few blocks from here.”
“Should we catch a cab?”
“No, I love the snow. It’s magical.”
Looking down the street and then back to her, he started wondering when he’d stopped seeing magic in the world. He could probably guess, but he didn’t want to think about that time.
A half hour later, his hands were frozen but he still found himself eating pistachio ice cream with Jude for dinner. He bought the treats and joined her at a booth where she was contentedly licking her rocky road. As soon as he sat down, she asked, “I think you can tell everything you need to know about a person by their favorite ice cream flavor.”

Eloped at the age of eighteen. Separated at the age of eighteen. Disappeared at the age of eighteen. This is what happened to Calla Greer. Her perfect life was shattered on her wedding day when she caught her husband Cain with another woman just hours after they said I do. With her heart broken, she moves across the border to Windsor, Canada to get away from the nightmare she stumbled upon. Hell bent on going to college and fulfilling her dream of becoming a lawyer.

After six long years of still being married, Calla returns to Detroit to have Cain sign divorce papers.

Only Cain has changed.

He’s bitter, angry and for a good reason.

At least that’s what he’s been telling himself for the past six years.

Cain Bexley had fifteen minutes to destroy his marriage to protect the woman he loved.  He did the only thing he could think of to make her leave. He jumped in bed with a woman. Life at home was a lie. Lives were at risk.

People are not who they seem.

Not even Cain’s dad or Calla’s parents are who they say they are. When Calla shows up begging for a divorce. He shows her exactly who he is and no way in hell will he sign those papers.

What happens when six years later she returns? The only woman he has loved. A woman who has changed herself! When all the lies surface will she be able to forgive everyone she has trusted in her life or will Calla turn to the man who destroyed her?

3.5 Stars by Jen Hagen

“I love you.  Just remember that and everything will be
fine.”

If you’re going to hear your husband speak his last words to you, at least it’s something heartwarming.  Calla and Cain’s wedding day has to go down in the books as one of the worst wedding days ever.  One minute you’re married, the next you’ve left your husband to break the news to his father, and
BAM! You are now an estranged couple.

Calla and Cain married young at 18 years and their parents were not thrilled with the announced nuptials; in fact, they were happy and relieved the marriage lasted less than a day.  Calla ran away after everything went down that dreadful day and it is now 6 years later when she returns home to finally get divorce papers signed by Cain.  There is a slight problem though…Cain doesn’t want to get divorced.

“You will never marry another man, not as long as I’m alive. You’re mine, Calla.”

A lot has changed in the 6 years that Calla has beenaway.  She moved far away across theborder into Canada never wanting to be found and Cain was forced into leading a
life that he didn’t want a part of.  Cain is now president of his father’s motorcycle club.  Cain has also bulked up considerably and got a tattoo of a calla lily on his…where??  Ouch…    He’s also a complete bad ass living a criminal life.  Oh, I forgot to mention that Calla is in college to be a lawyer.  Not a good mixture.

I’ve told her all she needs to know for now.  Before I tell her the whole truth about my life and the things I do, I need to gain her trust back.  If she finds out I lied to her about anything, I know I will lose her forever…

Well gee…YA THINK!?!?!  Sometimes men can be the dumbest people…hmm…let’s see how not telling the truth is going to go over.  But wait…he’s not really not telling the truth…he just isn’t even telling her.  He’s not guilty if it’s just omitting the truth, right?
Goodness there’s a lot of truth for Calla to learn.  Actually it was way too much truth coming out.  She and I learned it at the same time and how she managed to hold onto her sanity is beyond me.

There’s only one tiny little obstacle in our way…and that would be our past.  The fact that I can’t trust him.
Oh Mylanta.  This is just a hot mess but yet I couldn’t stop myself from reading it.  Cain is a hard ass with the softest heart for Calla.
“All I want to do is start my life with you, the life that was stolen from us years ago.”

There are obstacles in their way to their fresh start, and they are brutal and agonizing moments that may not be suitable for the sensitive reader.  I, of course, couldn’t put it down once I got to this section.  Ms. Coopmans always likes to throw in her mind trickery and there is plenty of that to be found here.  The story doesn’t necessarily end on a cliffhanger, but there is more to come in the form of a series.

Excerpt
My brain finally catches up with the fact I’m naked in front of Cain for the first time in six years. I sit up in a rush of water and bring my knees to my chest, resting my chin on top of them.
“You... you shouldn’t be in here.”
“You wouldn’t answer me,” he says exasperatedly.
“Well, no shit. My head was underwater. That still doesn’t give you the right to just walk in here.”
“When you don’t answer me when I’m standing right outside of a wide open door, not to mention the fact this is my house... well, then I think I have every fucking right. Don’t you?”
“No, I don’t. You could have just peeked in and seen I was fine and waited. Was this some kind of ploy for you to get me right where you wanted me? Are you so afraid that the minute you turn your back on me I will up and try to leave? Are you going to watch my every move? Or did you have an ulterior motive in suggesting I shower, just so I could strip down naked and you could make damn sure I didn’t go anywhere? So tell me what the hell it is, because this back and forth, hot and cold game you’ve started is really starting to piss me the hell off!”
I glare up at him, not quite able to read his eyes.
What I do know is that the sexual tension between the two of us is so strong, it’s working triple overtime. There’s only one tiny little obstacle in our way... and that would be our past. The fact that I can’t trust him. He broke every bit of it the same day he broke my heart. One of us needs to give in, take charge so we can just fuck and move on.
