Review by Trinette Dungee

Case Lawton has no love for Aspen Barlow, she’s the reason his entire life was turned on it’s axis. He lost custody of his son because of her and forgiveness is nowhere in the foreseeable future. The way things stand right now, if she were on fire he’d take his sweet time putting her out and the only reason he’d move that fast is because he promised to uphold the law and the last thing he wants is to be the crooked lawman his father was. When Aspen is suddenly in danger (and there’s a real fire involved), Case realizes there’s more to this lady than he thought and she’s lighting his fire.
Aspen Barlow is well aware there is no love lost between her and Case Lawton. She knows he blames her for losing his son but what he doesn’t know is that what she did helped him more than it hurt him. When a set of events happen that indicates someone is out to hurt or even kill her. Aspen’s means of survival relies on Case, and she’s hoping he can put his disdain for her aside to help her.
First, I have to run my usual disclaimer…I am a HUGE Jay Crownover fan. I’ve read pretty much ever book she’s written and those I haven’t I’ve listened to the audio. In any case there isn’t one book I wouldn’t recommend.
Jay is one of those authors who plants the seeds with supporting characters which is exactly what she did with Case. My interest in Case has been piqued ever since we met him in The Getaway Series; but the entire time I kept feeling like I knew him. This is where reading the author’s notes comes in handy. That series did not introduce me to Case, it was Salvaged (Poppy and Wheeler’s story). I love how Jay does that…that book was like two years ago and there was still something nagging my brain about this character.
Let’s start with the storyline. I like a good enemies-to-lovers storyline and this was a good one. Although the “enemies” part was more on Case’s end…and he did let her have it. I liked how his dislike for her was so tangible. I didn’t have to imagine it, it’s like it jumped out of the book at me. Most of the time I’m disappointed because it’s like one minute they hate each other and the next they are just madly in love. I liked the pace of this relationship. I did feel as if Case’s “like” came quickly, but then I realized that although he was definitely sexually attracted to Aspen, the trust wasn’t one hundred percent.
As for the characters…perfect. They were written perfectly. Case was a real dick to Aspen. The scene on the steps when he’s first served and his response to her when he remembers who she is….it was so real. I could hear that memory click in voice, I could see his face…like the squinting of his eyes as the recognition hit him. Aspen, the uncertainty she felt was so very real that I got goose bumps.

The supporting characters were as captivating as the main characters. I adored Case’s sister Kody (can’t wait for her story), I loved Hayes (be sure to read Jay’s author’s notes, lots of good info in there). I’m hoping he gets a story as well. There’s a host of other supporting characters from Aspen’s mother (eww), to the crazy Coleman brothers, to Aspen’s pathetic Ex, David and Case’s mean dad (although there is one tiny moment when I feel sympathy for his dad). Let’s not forget Agent Hill Gamble (can’t wait for the story…talk about sparks).

Great characters, great storyline, great read. Add it to the beach/poolside reading list.

Release Day Blitz

Title: Reel Love

Author: Julie A Richman

Genre: Standalone Contemporary Romance

Release Date: June 26th, 2019

Synopsis:

Is this Reel Love or Real Love?

Hollywood

The moment I laid eyes on Finn Parker’s headshot, I knew that if this guy could act, I wanted him for the hero role in the film being made from my book, Fleeing an August Moon.

The tall, blond, and ruggedly handsome actor looked exactly like the picture I’d seen in my head the entire time I was writing the book.

The studio, however, had different thoughts on a leading man.

Box Office crusher, Maverick Dailey, made it clear that he wanted the role. The producers, studio, and everyone involved were thrilled to score such a celebrity. Well, everyone except me.

And it’s my vote that counts since, according to my contract I get final say on casting. Maverick is amazing, yet I’m just not sure…

It certainly didn’t help that Finn Parker and I seemed destined to cross paths. We ran into each other all over Hollywood. And the more time we spent together, the more the sparks between us flew. We had an intense chemistry, something I’d only ever read about in books like mine.

Which made me wonder, was I really falling for Finn or just living out a fantasy with a red-blooded, live version of my hot hero character?

It’s easy to confuse fiction for reality in Hollywood. Everything is not as it seems in this town.

Not to mention, Finn’s life would forever change if he landed the role. Which made me question how good of an actor he really was? Was he interested in me, or the role I had the power to give him?

Is this Real Love or just Reel Love?

Review by Lisa Kane

Francesca Simonelli has written "the book". The one that every woman is swooning over. The hero, Griffin Chase is the book boyfriend on everyone's lips. And now it's about to become a movie, one of the most anticipated book to movie adaptations. But who can live up to the author's expectations of playing Griffin?

I can't believe he even exists. Well, in real life, anyway.

Finn Parker just needs one movie, one incredible push to move him up to the A-list for Hollywood. He's got an audition to read for Fleeing an August Moon and he needs to land this role.

This is the role that changes everything to leading-man status from What-have-I-seen-you-in? oblivion.

At first he's not overly impressed with the story line to say the least.

Holy shit, this book is a piece of crap.

Don't worry, that will all change.

Finally the day comes for his chance, but word has it that Hollywood heartthrob Maverick Dailey want this role.

From the moment Frankie sees a picture of Finn Parker, she knows this is the face of Griff Chase, regardless of the studio's desire for Maverick Dailey. But will the acting match the face?

Finn totally nails the audition, but then some personal things come into play. Is it Finn that Frankie is attracted to or is it his likeness to Griff. Is it Frankie that Finn is into to or is it her say in who plays Griffin Chase.

Just like a great Hollywood romance Reel Love has dreamy moments and angsty heartache and big over the top gestures. There will be tears and laughter and sometimes both.

My girlMy insides still turn into those of a fourteen-year-old every time he says that. We are the love story in this. He was right. The girl who was living in her head and the guy hidden behind a myriad of identities.

Release Blitz: The Two-Week Arrangement by Kendall Ryan

A steamy romance about a sexy (but emotionally broken) single dad and the smart, driven (doesn't take no for an answer) intern who makes him feel things he has no business feeling.

About The Two-Week Arrangement

Dear Sexy AF Intern,

I know you don't particularly care that I'm the CEO of this company, and you're just an intern. I also know you're not impressed by my power or my wealth, and that's fine.

You think you've got me all figured out from working alongside me for two weeks, but you don't know me. Not really.

You don't know that I'm a single dad to twin toddlers, or that those two little girls matter more to me than this entire hotel chain.

I'm not interested in starting something deep and meaningful, but what I am interested in is the way your body reacts to mine when we're in the same room. You probably assume the concentration on my face is work-related, when in reality, I'm figuring out which I want more--to nail you against the wall, or to bend you over my desk.

While you're too disciplined to act on it, I'm not. And the night you stepped into my limo, all bets were off.

Review by Lisa Kane

Dominic Aspen is the twenty-six year old CEO of Aspen Hotels. He's driven, all business and hides his personal life well. Especially because that personal life is his twin daughters, Emilia and Lacey. Only his best friend Oliver and the nanny Fran know about them.

There's a reason I haven't gone public about my daughters. I don't want the media's attention.

Any time away from his girls is about business. He had a complicated arrangement with the girls' mother, and she's out of the picture. They are solely his and he likes it that way.

Aspen Hotels offers an internship opportunity to recent grads. Out of a thousand applicants only four are chosen.

Presley Harper needs to succeed at this internship. She needs to be the one who will earn the coveted position as an employee at the end of the three months. Her brother Michael is studying dance and his tuition is just about breaking Presley. Their mom is deceased and their dad pretty much cut off Michael when he came out as gay. So his high tuition and fees are all on Presley (although I have to say, this kid is a slacker to me-get a part time job like every other college student! All he seems to do is call his sister up and tell her about some new fee that is owed. Why is it on all on her??)

Presley's aware that Dominic Aspen is good looking, but she's caught off guard by seeing him in the flesh.

"Dominic Aspen. It's nice to meet you." He extends his hand toward me, and I take it, shaking it firmly twice.

Dominic is not completely unaware of Presley's allure either. He makes it a point to be the one who will be mentoring her for her internship, all the while telling himself that nothing can develop between them. Business only.

Dominic is totally impressed by how competent Presley is and how quickly she picks up on things. But he can't allow himself to be swayed by her charms. When he needs a woman, he seeks one out by using Allure, an escort service. He pays for what he wants and walks away. No mess, no fuss.

When his date that he hired for a business meeting stands him up, fate puts Presley in his path. This starts an arrangement of sorts for them.

"Outside of working hours, for the next two weeks, I'd like you to pretend to be my ...plus one."

Now of course you know there are going to be complications. Lines will blur, limbs will get tangled up in sheets. But there are misunderstandings and secrets between them.

This is a cliffy so expect to be left dangling off the edge.

"I don't have time for relationships, or have the skill set to see one through, to be honest. No matter how amazing a woman you are, I'm not looking for anything serious."

One word-asshat.

Desperate times call for desperate actions and Presley isn't exactly thinking rationally. Dominic is busy guarding his heart and is making me want to dump him in a wood chipper. This is all going to go to hell quickly.

Where is my copy of Seven Nights of Sin?

"I've paid you for your time. Now go."

Now, my life is on the line while living with the devil himself. I have been torn down and broken, and I don’t think I can take anymore.
The man I need was never the one I married.
No, the man I need is the one I was never supposed to have. He’s the one who showed me gentleness, kindness, and true love.
Ward would put up a fight for me at any cost.
I know for a fact, I could be so much happier with him…
But when I come face-to-face with reality, I’m not sure if I’m brave enough to risk it all for someone I’ve just met, even if it seems like Mr. Ward and I are a match made in heaven.

Review by Jen Skewes

This is the conclusion to the Ward Duet.  After being left hanging with that big cliffhanger, I could not wait to start reading The Man I Need because what I needed was to know what would happen next.  I wanted to know how far Kyle would go to keep Gabby. Wanted to know more of their back story and how they got to this pint in their marriage and most of all I wanted to know how it would all end and what role Marcel played in it all. and of course I would rooting for Marcel and Gabby to find their happily ever after with each other.

This one starts off with a prologue that will shock you.  When I started reading it, I wondered where is this all going.  And when I found out, OMG, I could not believe it.  We are then Brought right back to where we left off.  Kyle knows about Gabby and Marcel and he will do everything in his power to make sure she stays exactly where he thinks she belongs, with him.  And when I say anything, I mean anything.

Marcel senses that something is off and finds out what happened when he goes to see Gabby.  He is completely shocked by what he sees, but he is also very angry and know that there is no way he can leave her alone with this man.  He vows to protect her and keep her safe, but she's so afraid of what will happen to her if she leaves.   Will Gabby accept Marcel's help or will she stay with the man that she married, the man that she has know idea who he is any more?

I really did enjoy this book, there are parts of it that are intense and gritty and deals with some head topics.  But then there is the moments with Marcel and Gabby that are so sweet, loving and will make your heart happy.  I loved the two of them together and loved how much Marcel wanted to protect her.  She comes with a lot of baggage but he is willing to carry it all and go through it with her.  and that is what I loved about him.

while I did love this book, I think there was also something missing.  Marcel has a secret, that for me didn't seem to make sense and really go anywhere. And as much as I hated Kyle I think a part of me truly wanted to understand him more. Did he ever love Gabby?  I wanted to know his deepest feelings.    There were ups and downs, and some angst and drama.  I loved the moments that Marcel and Gabby spent together.  It ended in the perfect way, and left me with a smile on my face.

Excerpt
When I hear a door slam upstairs, I weakly push up to a stand. I sniffle loudly as I clean up the broken shards from the glass, careful not to cut myself with any of it. I wipe up the water and spaghetti next, leaving the stained red rag in the sink.
Turning toward the double doors, I draw in a shaky breath and push them open. I walk out, crossing the patio to get to the gate that leads to the beach.
I don’t know why, but I feel numb now. My mind is reeling, but my body moves, doing its own thing.
Wrapping my arms around myself as soon as my feet hit the sand, I walk close to the shoreline and finally, my mind syncs with my body.
I break down, knees hitting the gravelly sand as my face lands in my hands.
I’m not sure how long I cry, sob after sob taking over me, but when I stop, the sunset that was just ahead of me is barely visible now.

Review by Lisa Kane

Valentine O'Dell has struggled most of her twenty two years. First she lost her parents, then her own sister drained her trust fund. She moved from New York to Chicago to live with her grandmother. At least she could continue her studies at design school. Oh wait a minute, about a second after she got there, her grandmom had a stroke and a serious fall. Ever since, Valentine has worked to take care of the two of them.

Where does she work? She works at Cache.

There were underground clubs, and then there was Cache.  Off the map, unlisted, almost impossible to find-it was invite only, and not many of its patrons were willing to share such a special place with their friends.

Valentine dances there, fills in for the odd job or two. Of course, a girl could make some extra money if she wanted to-but so far Valentine hasn't gone that route.

A couple of guys come in one night, wearing masks of all things. One is harmless enough, but one...well he catches her eye.

She's paired up in class for a project with a total rich bitch. The two have a ton of work to do outside of class and they meet up at Harper's (the snotty girl) swanky apartment. Just as she's about to leave who walks in...yep hot guy without his mask.

"Valentine, huh," he said in a soft voice. She nodded without looking up.
"Yup."
"...like the holiday."

She's good and caught now. Nobody knows about her job at Cache. But that's about to change.

Ari Sharapov is a rich lawyer who works at his father's firm. He's worked hard for all the has, but there have been some major perks. Like the luxury apartment and sports car that the firm pays for-he may not be a fan of his father's but someday this firm will be his. He dates Harper because it's easier than listening to his father go on and on about aligning their families into a profitable marriage.

But Ari knows a good thing when he sees it and he wants Valentine.

"Ari...I mean, Mr. Sharapov, she said in a soft voice. "He said he wants to be my exclusive client for the next two weeks?"

This is when the story really flies. Valentine is so different from Ari's world. And that's why they are perfect for each other. Ari can be himself with her, and she can relax and not have the whole world on her shoulders.

Now this is a Stylo Fantome story-I mean have you read the Kane Trilogy?

"I'm not...you're not...I don't know these people, I'm not part of your world! That's a job for a girlfriend, not a whore."

I can almost hear the cracks in my heart.

Good girls did not end up in places like Cache. He just had to keep reminding himself of that fact. She'd already been working there long before he'd ever shown up, and had escorted who knew how many men. She was no angel.

Can I please just land one punch on this guy?

This book killed me...seriously, I had such a love/hate thing going on with Ari.

He'd become accustomed to a certain way of life, and he wasn't willing to give it up, not for Valentine. Not for anybody.

Come on, just one punch.

I will not post any quotes that jackass says. They cut too deep and I can't get them out of my head. But one does reap what one sows and Ari is about to tumble.

She could be the actual incarnation of a saint sent to live here on earth, and he would still be the goddamn devil.

So you are going to leave me up on this cliff, dangling from a ball of rope until September?

Well played Ms. Fantome, well played.

Review by Jen Skewes

OTR Cover FINAL.pngThis the first book that I have read by Kandi Steiner and I loved it.  I cannot wait to read more, especially when it comes to this series and the Becker boys.

Ruby Grace is back in her hometown, planning her wedding which will take place in six weeks.  She is only 19 years old, but being a politician's wife, is what she was always meant to be.  She grew up being prepared for this moment.  It is who her family is and up until now she seems ok  and happy with her upcoming nuptials.  Until she runs into Noah Becker, the boy that everyone warns you about.  The boy that she used to crush on when she was a little girl sitting behind him in church.  He is all wrong for her, at least in her parents eyes he would be. But as she spends more time with Noah she realizes that he is not the man she thought or expected him to be.  He is the only person who may actually see her, the real her.  He sees right through her and the role that she so perfectly plays.  Ruby Grace has her own dreams and Noah is the only one who seems to understand those dreams and wants to see her obtain them.  But she is engaged to another man, who she loves and plans on marrying, and she will not let Noah Becker get in the way of that.

I really loved this book and the characters.  Noah is this sexy man who is hard working, loves his family and tends to say how he truly feels, even if it may not be appropriate at that moment.  ?but that is what I loved about him.  His ability to truly see Ruby Grace in a way that I think no one does, or maybe they just don't want to.  He wants so much more for her and while he agrees to be friends, you know that he wants so much more.  This girl has gotten under his skin like no one ever has. I loved everything about him.

Ruby Grace, was a great heroine who my hurt truly hurt for.  I felt for her for so many reasons.  You could see and feel her emotions.  when she was with Noah she was a different person, long and carefree and that was who she truly was and I think wanted to be.  But family was important to her and I guess she knew her role in life.

Regardless of what was going to happen in six weeks, Noah and Ruby spent time together and I loved every minute of it.  when they were together, you forget everything that was going on around them.  They were so perfect together.  They opened up to each other, saw each other in a way that others didn't.  And when she needed Noah the most he was there for her.  I was rooting for them to find their happily ever after with each other.  What may've started out as a physical attraction, tuned into so much more.  Something that you felt in your heart, something that you knew was meant to be.  There were moments of doubt, that made me wonder how this would all play put.  I felt the emotions with these characters.  I completely devoured this book, needing to get to the end.  I loved the ride that Ms. Steiner took me on and I cannot wait for the next one in this series!!

Blog Tour.pngExcerpt:
I watched from the sidelines as Betty schooled Noah on the final dance scene from the classic movie — and one of her favorites. Noah, bless his heart, took it in stride. He held her hands, spun her gently, even went under water completely to give Betty some sort of “lift” that made her feel like Jennifer Grey.

That was when her smile was the largest — her eyes closed, face cast upward, arms out in the same iconic flight stance that the actress had done.

If I wasn’t laughing so hard, I might have cried at the sentiment.

After a dozen more run throughs, Betty called for a break, and the two of them swam up to the side of the pool where I sat. Betty took the lemonade I offered her, sipping and hollering across the pool at Mr. Buchanan — who was seated under the umbrellas. Noah rested his arms on the concrete edge, crossing them and resting his head on his forearm before he peered up at me through lashes still dripping with water.

His eyes were an endless blue, the light from the pool reflecting off them like a tropical dream.

“Enjoying your entertainment this afternoon, Miss. Barnett?”

I bit my lip against a smile. “Very much so, Mr. Becker. I never knew you were such a great dancer.”

“Oh, you should see me on the actual dance floor. I can two step and waltz and cha cha with the best of them. And don’t even get me started on what happens when ‘Watermelon Crawl’ comes on.”

“I’m sure it’s quite entertaining,” I mused, still dangling my feet in the cool water.

“When do I get to see your dance moves?”

I barked out a laugh at that. “Um, that would be approximately… never.”

“Never?” he asked, popping his head up off his arms with a look of injustice. “But you’ve seen all my moves, now. I show you mine, you show me yours. Isn’t that the deal?”

“I never agreed to that.”

He narrowed his eyes, running his forefinger and thumb over the stubble on his chin before he nodded. “I see…” Then, a wicked gleam came over those blue steel eyes, and before I could so much as scream, his hand wrapped around my wrist, tugging forward until I was off the ledge and under water.

I popped up instantly, not even able to open my eyes against the chlorine yet before I was swinging at him. “Noah!”

He laughed, catching my advances easily and pulling me into him. I blinked several times, shaking the drops from my eyes before I glared up at him.

“You jerk. Mama’s going to kill me for ruining my hair.”

“Mama will live,” he said, and then one arm wrapped around my waist, the other taking my hand in a leading position. “Now, let’s dance, little lady.”

With one pull of my hand and push of my hip, I spun away from him, reeling back in like a yo-yo and falling in line with his steps before I realized what was happening. Surprise ripped through me, brows shooting up to my hairline as he somehow managed to smoothly twirl me around that metaphorical dance floor even with water hitting us waist deep. My feet felt sluggish, the moves slower than if we were in boots on a hardwood floor, but somehow, that made it even more fun.

I laughed and laughed as he danced me around — until he had the bright idea to flip me like a swing dancer. I emerged from the water beating on his chest again, which just made him laugh harder. And when we were breathless, Noah tugged me to the side of the pool again.

“Thank you for the dance,” he said, both of us still breathing heavily as he wrapped his strong, rugged hands around my waist. For a moment, he just held them there, the rough pad of his thumbs smoothing over my exposed hip bones. My smile fell, chest still heaving as my eyes slipped to his lips.

I didn’t know why I looked at them.

I didn’t know why I couldn’t look away.

Noah swallowed, tightening his grip on my hips before he lowered in the water a little and helped push me back up onto the edge of the pool where I’d been seated before. Once I was steady, he released his hold on me, backing away with a distant look in his eyes that I couldn’t decipher before he tore them from me and looked at Betty, instead.

About Kandi:
Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.
An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a diehard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.
When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer, and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.
