Synopsis

Ever since the one time Andie Weber threw caution to the wind - and paid the price for it - she’s learned that it’s safer and smarter to live life playing by the rules. Now she’s got a great apartment, a steady job, and a wonderful boyfriend in Colin; he’s sweet, stable, and essentially perfect – except maybe for the fact that his best friend is Chase.

Chase McGuire lives his carefree, unstructured life strictly for himself. Dripping sarcasm and oozing wit, he refuses to censor his feelings or opinions for anyone, making no apologies for either and wearing his abrasiveness like a badge of honor. No one has ever gotten under Andie’s skin the way Chase does – and vice versa.

So when Andie and Chase find themselves forced to take a two-day road trip together, they are already dreading an inevitable all-out war. But as the trip progresses, and the undeniable friction that has always defined their relationship slowly begins to wear away their preconceived notions of each other, Andie and Chase discover they both have a lot to learn about life, courage, happiness, and the age-old battle between logic and love

4.5 star review

This is the first book that I have read by Priscilla Glenn and I loved it!  I had a Chase hangover, and even read a few of my favorite moments again only hours after finishing the book.

"Use you head.  Love with your head.  Everything always logical, sensible, careful."

Andie's life is predictable, stable and under control.  She has the perfect boyfriend, Colin, and has her life and career all mapped out, with no room for diversionAn incident from Andie's past has caused her to be more cautious in life, always choosing the safe option, being in control and always playing by the rules.   She has the perfect boyfriend who is sweet and caring and predictable.  She works at her parents restaurant and for Andie, life is perfect. Until she meets Colin's friend Chase Mcguire, who is the complete opposite of Andie.

Chase McGuire, oh how I fell in love with you the moment you and Andie met.  Chase lives life to the fullest, lives in the moment.  Most of his life was spent trying to live up to his father's expectations.  Trying to be the best son and make his father proud of him.  But that was something that Chase never managed to do, no matter how hard he tried.  Now that his father is no longer in his life he has decided to take life for everything that it is worth.  He lives for himself and does what makes him happy, with no one else to answer to. He says what he wants, hold nothing back and at times can be a complete ass.  But you still can't help but falling in love with him.

"I'm gonna fall in love with you"  she whispered

Chase and Andie first met when her and Colin first started dating.  She wasn't a big fan of his at all, so when they are unexpectedly forced to take a two day road trip together, Andie is anything but happy.  Chase gets under her skin like no one else can.  Chase knows how much he bothers her, but he enjoys it, almost like when you are in second grade and the boy who is always picking on you does so because he likes you.  But at the same time Chase doesn't want to hurt her, he finds himself thinking about her in ways that he knows he shouldn't.  After all she is his best friends girl, which means she is off limits. While on this road trip things begin to change for Chase and Andie.  They both had these pre conceived notions about each other and the more time they spend together the more they realize that maybe they were wrong.  They share some really sweet and tender moments while on the road that has them both wondering if what they are doing is wrong.  And as much as Chase wants her and knows he is falling for her, he vows to stay away.

His heart was racing, and he wanted her to hear it.  And he wanted her to know that from here on out, it beat solely for her.

After returning home from their trip, things don't get easier.  The feelings that they have are still there and neither one of them can deny it.  Chase brings out a side of Andie that she has been trying to hide.  I say trying to hide, because I honestly believe that deep down the Andie that is with Chase is the real Andie.  Her past has caused her to live life with caution.  But when she is with Chase it's as if she feels free.  He doesn't laugh when she tells him her dreams, instead he encourages her to fulfill them.  He helps her to live in the moment and to live for herself.  Her whole life her mother has always told her to love with her brain, in other words choose what is right and what feels safe.  She loves Colin but maybe all this time with him she loved him with her head and not her heart.  He made her feel safe and content in the little predictable world that they lived in.  But with Chase it's different, the feelings and connection that she has with him are deeper than what she ever had with Colin.  Will Andie finally realize that maybe loving with your head isn't always the right choice and sometimes you need to take the risk and love with your heart? You will have to read this amazing story in order to find out.

I loved Andie and Chase together, even as just friends, they were so good together.   The road trip and the moments they shared together were witty and fun and will make you smile.  It was one of those moments in the book that you didn't want to end.  The banter between the two of them will make you laugh.   Chase can be abrasive and an ass sometimes but deep down when he begins to open up you see a sweeter side to him.  There is so much more to Chase than Andie could ever have imagined, he is actually a good guy with a heart.  Priscilla Glen has done such a wonderful job with this story.  It is a sweet, heart warming and breath taking story about living life to the fullest and to follow your heart, because loving with your heart is definitely worth the risk.  Amazing job by Ms. Glenn!
