Must Love Otters by Eliza Gordon Review and Giveaway

Hollie Porter is the chairwoman of Generation Disillusioned: at twenty-five years old, she’s saddled with a job she hates, a boyfriend who’s all wrong for her, and a vexing inability to say no. She’s already near her breaking point, so when one caller too many kicks the bucket during Hollie’s 911 shift, she cashes in the Sweethearts’ Spa & Stay gift certificate from her dad and heads to Revelation Cove, British Columbia. One caveat: she’s going solo. Any sweethearts will have to be found on site.

Hollie hopes to find her beloved otters in the wilds of the Great White North, but instead she’s providing comic relief for staff and guests alike. Even Concierge Ryan, a former NHL star with bad knees and broken dreams, can’t stop her from stumbling from one (mis)adventure to another. Just when Hollie starts to think that a change of venue doesn’t mean a change in circumstances, the island works its charm and she starts to think she might have found the rejuvenation she so desperately desires. But then an uninvited guest crashes the party, forcing her to step out of the discomfort zone where she dwells and save the day … and maybe even herself in the process.

4 Star Review by Jen Skewes

I had posted the sale for this book on our blog page and just had to 1-click it myself.  It was such a refreshing, light, funny and witty read and exactly the type of book I needed.

Hollie has a job that she is not too fond of, ok that is putting it lightly.  She hates her job and is in a relationship with a guy who she isn't really in love with.  She has been with Keith for a few years now and it's not that things between them are bad, she just knows that she isn't in love with him  In a way I think they just fell into this comfort zone with each other are together for the sake of being with someone.  She knows she isn't in love with him and that this relationship is going no where.  Hollie is starting to rethink it all.  The job she hates and the relationship that she no longer wants to be in.  She realizes that the best thing is to break up with her boyfriend and then decides to use the gift certificate that her father gave her for a spa and to get away.  So the night that she breaks up with her boyfriend she goes to a bar, gets a little tipsy and decides to call the spa to book her stay.  She also decides that it was ok to tell Concierge Ryan a little more than he needed to hear

I knew from the moment that she was drunk and called the Spa and spoke to Concierge Ryan that this was going to be a fun and witty read.  And that I was going to love Ryan.  He is a former professional hockey player who was injured and was forced to retire early.  He is now the concierge at Revelation Cove.      Ryan was a really great guy who I loved.  Hollie had a tendency to get herself in some sticky situations.  Situations that were funny to others but embarrassing to Hollie.  Ryan seemed to be the knight in shining armor who was always there to save her.  All though at times never letting her forget her embarrassing moments.  Ryan seemed to always be there at the moment she needed it the most.  But at some point Hollie needs to leave the good life and go back home to her crappy job and lonely apartment. S what will happen to Ryan and Hollie when it is time for her to go back home?

I loved the banter between these two.  They were so cute together and I loved the flirtiness between them.  There were moments that were laugh out loud funny.  Hollie said things that most woman think about but will never admit.  You could certainly relate to her in many ways.  Her and Ryan were completely made for each other.  Ryan was so sweet and lovable and funny.  If you are looking for something that will make you laugh from the very first chapter until the end, then this book is for you.  I loved Hollie and Ryan's story and would to see more of them in the future.
