Blog Tour: Deacon by Kristen Ashley

Deacon has an ugly history, a history that broke him, leaving him a ghost of a man. Out of necessity, he left the normal world to descend into the criminal world and found he fit. So he stayed. Cold as ice and living off the grid, Deacon has no intention to connect, not with anyone.

Then he returns to some remote cabins in the Colorado Mountains and finds they have new owners. One of them is Cassidy Swallow, a young woman willing to work hard to live her quiet dream in a house by a river surrounded by aspen and pine.

Suddenly, Deacon finds he’s at war. Cassidy’s pull for him to connect is strong. He fights it, but he loses, always coming back for more. But when he does, he gives her nothing.

From the first time she sees him, Cassidy knows Deacon is dead inside. She knows he’s the kind of man who could destroy a woman. But one night when Deacon’s control slips, Cassidy takes a chance.

He might break her. He also might be her dream come true.

5 star review by Allison East

Holy crap balls, I'm in love, , and I don't  care who knows it!!! Kristen has always been my FAVORITE author- right up there at the top, and I couldn't have been more happy to see another book in the Unfinished heroes series- which is my second favorite series from her (Colorado Mountain series being the first) and while I was thoroughly impressed with Knight and Creed- Raid lost me a little bit, so I was wary. Boy did she put me out of my misery. I consumed Deacon- and as you know, Kristen isn't one to write a novella- nope, the description and epilogues make me a huge fan and she reeled me back in with one fine as hell alpha.
Cheese and rice- Deacon, Deacon, Deacon- I won't be able to move on from him quickly, I can tell you that. This story is told over a span of at least seven years and starts when the heroine- Cassidy, is 24. She is starting her own business, by renting out little cabins in Colorado- called Glacier Lily. It starts with her and her boyfriend- Grant, who is a lazy jerk and does nothing to help her. considering she did all the buy ins herself- she soon lets him go. But not before they are introduced to John Priest- a mysterious tall, dark, and ruggedly handsome man, who comes to stay at her place- cash only.

John Priest- aka Deacon- will hands down be one of my FAVORITE KA heroes. It's funny because I never really *got* why the series is called the Unfinished Hero series- until Deacon. I had to really think about it, and I am sure this is all my opinion and I will only know the answer to it, if KA answers herself, but here is my hypothesis. What makes a hero? Does he have luscious hair, rocking' bod, killer smile that makes you weak in the knees, and is an all American type? Not necessarily. I think a hero can be anything that your mind dreams up. I think those good looks only get the hero so far- its more of an attitude or the way they carry themselves that's the biggest turn on. I think all of the Unfinished Heroes in this series- are rugged and not your typical definition of a "hero" per say, but a hero nonetheless. It takes time to make a hero- and when we meet them in these amazingly written stories, we are kind of hesitant to love them- they are for lack of a better word, unfinished. But once the epilogue rolls around and we want one for ourselves, that's when they become heroes, tried and true. Because we see it over the span of these books- we see how they develop into our fantasies. And Deacon, did just that for me.

I love Cassidy too- a take no sh** heroine- my favorite kind of KA heroine. She has style, sass, and she is one of the most beautiful women Deacon has ever seen. If she wants something, she works her ass off and gets it. She gets the job done and I absolutely love that about her.  If she doesn't know how to do something, she learns. Imagine that, a heroine with a back bone, who can do stuff for herself without depending on a man- love that.

And I was honestly trying to go back and remember quotes that I loved, but when there are so many good parts- its hard to pick the good ones. I like too much of what she said. I would be highlighting too many pages! Just remember- when Deacon is sweet- you will feel like melting, right there on the spot. I felt myself smiling so big one time that my husband asked me why I was cheesing. Then I had to explain it was a book, and the character- he rolled his eyes, I didn't finish. Needless to say, we all need a Deacon. Because when he is sweet, it's off the charts- now, him in the bedroom is nothing sweet. There are some of the hottest scenes in a KA novel, in this story. And I know that these books are more Erotica than Romance- but HOT DAMN. Just wait until you read some of them- you will be astounded at what gets you going ;)

I am telling you, you will want to order this, and read it the second it hits your kindle. Plan for some alone time, or significant other time afterwards, cuddle up in your pjs, bake some cookies, and just read the gloriousness that is Deacon by Kristen Ashley.
