Review: The Prelude of Ella and Micha by Jessica Sorensen

When Ella Daniels and Micha Scott are fourteen, they make a pact to leave the small town of Star Grove and create better lives for themselves. The pact was made as best friends, but over the next six years, their friendship begins to intensify. Feelings change. Grow. Veer towards love.

But one tragic night changes everything. Hearts get broken. And the future they had planned changes forever.

This novella takes place a little less than a year before The Secret of Ella and Micha. It contains glimpses of when Ella and Micha were younger, including a scene of when Micha first fell love with Ella.

4 Star Review by Jen Skewes

The Secret of Ella and Micha was the first book that I read by Jessica Sorensen.  After reading that book I fell in love with Jessica’s writing.  She is one of my go to authors. I have read all of her books since Ella and Micha and loved every one of them.  But I think that Ella and Micha will always be my favorite.  These two charactets hold a special place in my heart and will always be one of my all time favorite couples.

I think my love for them is because of their beautiful story.  Two people who have been friends for as long as they can remember.  They were best friends who were always there for each other.  Ella had a father who drank too much and a mother who was suffered from bi polar disorder.  But the one person that was always there for Ella was Micha.  He was her rock, her support and the person who would always be there.  The Prelude to Ella and Micha is just that.  It takes us to the time prior to The Secret where we see Ella and Micha before they realized their feelings for each other and became more than just friends.

I think that Micha may have always known how he felt but we see Micha recognizing his true feelings for Ella.  While Micha is being the best friend that he has always been and being there for Ella, we see her dealing with her home life.  I think in this novella we learn alot more about Ella and understand her more.  We understand why she ran away and exactly what she went through that tragic night.  We see the moments leading up to that moment between Ella and Micha on the bridge and how she got there.

This was the perfect prequel to this series.  It gives us more of an inside look to their friendship, Ella’s home life and Micha’s love for Ella.  I think I fell in love with Micha even more in this one.  All he wants it to support her, love her and protect her.   I always love a friends to lovers story but this one was so much more.  They were each others soul mates and no matter what you need know much these two belonged together.  How well they were connected and how much they needed each other.  I loved seeing the before for this couple.  It just made me fall in love with them even more.
