SORORITY OF THREE: Freshman 101

And you thought the hardest part of freshman year was scheduling...

Sunny McCormick is in love with love. She's cute, romantic and convinced her Prince Charming is out there somewhere.

Grace McCarrion has never been in love. She's shy, reserved and her own worst critic.

Claudia Mansour isn't sure she believes in love. She's confident, beautiful and hard to impress.

They've decided to go against the grain and, rather than pledge the Greek system at the University of Illinois, create an unofficial sorority of their own.

This is their story. The ups and downs, the trials and tribulations, the romance and heartbreak.

Welcome to freshman year.

4 Star Review by Jen Skewes

Sorority of Three is a really sweet and refreshing story about three girls who meet at Freshman orientation and become the best of friends.  They are all completely different in both looks and personality.  But together they just work.  They may have just met a few months ago but they have formed this strong bond and friendship.

Sunny is the sweet, fun loving and outgoing friend.  She is looking for love.  She has had boyfriends in the past but never found the one and is hoping she will find him soon.  She completely believes in love and the whole fantasy that goes along with it.  And one day hopes that her fantasies become a reality.

Grace is the shy one of the group.  She has never found love.  She has friends that are boys and has no issues talking to them but when it comes to talking to a boy she likes, she starts to clam up.  She doesn’t know how to act around them.  Grace finds herself liking two boys and both of those boys feeling the same way towards her.  But never experiencing dating before Grace is unsure how to handle her situation.  Luckily she has both of her best friends by her side to help her through it and figure it all out.

Claudia I think was my favorite.  She is the type of girl who doesn’t care what others think, except her friends of course.  But she says what she feels and has never found love.  But it’s because she has never found someone that makes her feel.  She doesn’t just settle for every guy that comes along.  She wants someone that will make her feel things and when the time comes she will find that person.

This book is unique in so many ways.   It is told from each girls point of view, alternating back and forth.  This is their story of experiencing their first year of college together.  I remember going through what they are experiencing.  Making new friends, meeting new people, meeting boys and wondering if they will like you.  Wanting so badly to fit in.  We see these three girls go through it all together.  We see their own personal struggles and how having their best friends by their side helped them.  It is a sweet and refreshing story about the bond between three amazing girls.  They have a friendship that is one you hope will last forever.  They are there for each other they way a best friend should be.  But it is also about opening yourself up, coming out of your shell, and finding yourself.  I must say the ending was a bit of a surprise for me and I can’t wait to see what Ms. Brown has planned for their sophomore year.

Melissa Brown was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. She attended the University of Illinois and is the mother of two fantastic kids. She's an avid reader who enjoys making handmade gifts for her family and friends, as well as baking and painting. Melissa has an unhealthy obsession with pop culture. She speaks fluent movie quotes from the 1980s (John Hughes = genius), reads celebrity gossip magazines and never misses an episode of Scandal. She enjoys writing contemporary romance, romantic suspense and young adult novels.
