I have been waiting for Flick and Jet's story. What I think I loved most was this was a Rocker Series/Angel's Halo crossover novel. So two of my favorite series were intermixed.
Flick has been working for Emmie Armtrong (Demon Wing's manager) taking care of her two kids-Mia and Jagger. But she's missed her friends back home and most especially the man who broke her heart-Jet. But she left because things got so complicated and after she lost her baby she just felt unwanted and needed to start over.
Jet has been on parole and has been counting down the days until he can leave the county and go and get Flick. He's known where Flick's been for a while but Emmie has blocked any attempts he's made to get a hold of her. The only contact that they've had has been through Hawk, Jet's brother. Flick asked a huge favor of Jet while he was in prison in order to protect Emmie and her niece Lucy.
Jet pays a surprise visit to Flick, knowing that she won't willingly come home with him. But that favor she asked of him-well that's his leverage to getting her to come back with him. She doesn't want to go but knows he isn't above using the info he has on Emmie.
I didn't like to play fair when it came to something I wanted. Something I cared about. Someone I loved.
Flick has no choice but to protect those she's come to love. But what is Jet's game and what is he out to get?
"What exactly do you want, then?" she gritted out.
"You. Plain and simple. I want you back. In my life, in my arms, in my bed."
The reunion is bittersweet. Her best friend Raven's life has changed so much. Jet's brothers welcome her home except for Hawke, who acts like a real douche. But he is so whipped by his girl Grace that Flick doesn't let it bother her too much. But it seems that she traded the troubles on the Demon Wings' tour for a whole lot of danger back home.
Someone is out to hurt the club and it's somehow tied in with Grace. There is a lot going on in this story-the Italians are back and Flick's cousin Ciro needs to step in. (he's a real mystery and I wouldn't mind a story about him!) More than a few people are put in danger and things are messy.
In spite of the suspense going on, this remains a love story at heart. Flick was so hurt by Jet she has trouble believing he is sincere and truly sorry for the hurt he caused.
I'd gotten lost in the past, and all I could think was how was I going to survive it when he got bored with me this time around?
Jet was so devastated when Flick left that he will do anything to get her back-even if he has to leave the club he loves.
Maybe that was why there had been no one since her. I knew no one could recreate this feeling for me-the overwhelming pleasure that made me feel like I was dying mixed with the most amazing peace I'd ever felt in my life.
Can two broken people forgive and move on? Can the hurts of the past be a lesson for the future?
