AP - Synopsis.jpg

I’m a yes girl.  Get your mind out of the gutter; I’m not talking about sex.  I’m talking about saying yes to whatever comes my way in life.  So when I had the chance to move to Europe after college, I said, yes.  When I had the chance to open my own lingerie line, I said, yes.  And when my stepsister got diagnosed with cancer and needed me to come home and help her raise her daughter, I said, yes.  That’s me, Kenzie — the yes girl!  In every area of my life but one —Love.  Always the first to leave a relationship.  Will I be able to say yes to love — to Kane — to being happy?  Or will I simply come undone and be stripped raw?
Don’t let Kenzie fool you!  She’s a master at hiding behind a laugh and a smile.  Being an attorney, I prefer the facts.  This story isn’t as light and happy as my yes girl would have you believe.  No laugh can sugar coat what we are facing:  I’ve lost everything.  I know what it’s like to be left raw.  But sometimes that’s the only way to find love.  To strip yourself down, let the other person see all your shit, and hope they love you anyway.

Review by Jennifer Skewes

I loved this book so much.  It is a beautiful story about love, loss, life and family.  It is an emotional ride that definitely deals with some heavy topics.  But Ms. Lane’s writing is flawless and she tackled those topics with care. This is not just a story about love and second chances but also about two sisters who are the best of friends and mean the world to each other.

Kenzie has just moved back to the States to start her own lingerie business and to be there for her sister, who is battling cancer, and to take care of her niece.  Kenzie is a very loving and caring person who has a hard time saying no to people.  She is sassy and at times has no filter.  But when it comes to love, romance and men, she has her guard up.  Right now her mind is on what is most important to her at the moment, which is her family and her business.  She does not want to lose herself in a man again.  But when she meets Kade everything changes from that moment.

Kade knew from the moment that he heard her laugh that he needed to find out who she was.   It was Kade's voice that completely captured Kenzie from the start.    When they finally meet face to face, sparks began to fly.  Kade wants her, when it comes to Kenzie he was all in.  In his past he had always put his work first and he has learned from his mistakes.  Kenzie is his future and he has every intention of making her see it as well.  While Kade has no problem expressing his feelings, Kenzie on the other hand has a wall up.  She knows she is falling for Kade but her fears and insecurities sometimes get in the way.  The two of them together are beautiful and perfect for each other.  But there are may obstacles that they face before they get their happily ever after.  Kenzie is caring for her niece and her dying sister, she also just came out of a bad relationship.   And then there is Kade who has his own story to tell.  Can these two make it past the hurdles and find their happiness together?

This story was just beautiful for so many reasons.  It wasn’t just about the romance and the love between Kade and Kenzie.  But it was also about Kenzie and her sister and their loving relationship.  But is was also about how Kade fit in to it all.  He embraced it all and was there for her.  Kade was just an amazing and caring man.  The way he fell for Kenzie’s niece Zoe and how good he was with her.  But how he also wanted to make Kenzie happy and give her everything.  He was there for her when it came to her sister and her family.  He wanted her and all of the baggage that she came with and I loved him for that.

Kenzie was such a stong individual but at the same time she had her insecurities which I loved.  Because no matter how strong we are, we all have our fears.  And her fears weren't just about her and Kade.  It was the fear of losing her sister, the one person she loved and counted on the most.  It was so beautiful to watch the love between these two sister.  She also had fears when it came to love as well.  She was so afraid to love Kade for reasons that I completely understood.  But there was no denying how hard she fell for him and how much in love with him, she really was.

Together these two had the most beautiful love story.  I cried a few times and when it came to Kade’s past and his story my heart broke for him.  He learned so much from his past and wanted to do it right this time around.  I felt the love that these two had, I felt the pain and the heartache that they went through.  But I also loved the happy times as well.  There were a few unexpected twists and I was a little surprised at one of them but it all worked out and in the end it all came together and left me with a huge smile on my face.  Stripped Raw is one of my top reads this year.  The story just felt so real and in many ways touching.  Both Kade and Kenzie have been through so much but together they got past it all and found the love that they deserve.

“I’m the good girl, very responsible, girl-next-door type.”

Should I tell her I took the virginity of the girl next door?  Probably not.  “I think you’re more than that,” I say, taking a step closer to her.  That wasn’t a line.  I really mean it.  I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t think so.

I inch even closer, but she looks confused — a little like she wants me to kiss her, a little like she wants me to screw her, but mostly like she doesn’t want me to do anything more.  I can’t blame her; we only met a few hours ago.  Deacon is wrong about the one night stand thing.  This woman isn’t looking for a hookup.  I’m not, either.  One night with her wouldn’t be enough.  So I take a step back, my fists clenched at my sides to redirect my energy.

“That was my first catalog,” Kenzie says.  “I plan on doing two a year.”  She reaches for a sketchbook on her work table.  “This is what I’m working on for the next line.  I’ll be photographing them pretty soon.  The line is inspired by men’s clothing, so pinstripes and. . . .”

She keeps talking about the different fabrics, colors, and textures she plans to use.  I have no idea what she is saying, but marvel over what I’m seeing — corsets and bustiers, vests with garter belts, bras, and G-strings.  I love that these ideas, these fantasies, came out of her mind.  She is so much more than she thinks, so much more than the girl next door.

Kenzie flips to another sketch, this one of a navy bra and panty set with stockings and heels.  That will look perfect on her — especially bent over my office desk.  My cock throbbing, I take a deep breath and try to focus on what Kenzie is saying.  My eyes search the catalog pages for anything to distract me.  “What’s this?”

“Cuffs,” she says, “like on a man’s dress shirt.  But these double as handcuffs.”

Okay, that’s it.  The arts-and-crafts show is officially driving me crazy.  My dick is rock hard now, and I can’t take it anymore.
