Dirty Work by Brenda Rothert and Chelle Bliss

BLURB:
From authors Chelle Bliss and Brenda Rothert comes a smoldering standalone enemies to lovers romance that will, ahem…check all your boxes.

Reagan
I hate him. Jude Titan is everything that’s wrong with the male sex: cocky, domineering and loaded with swagger. Oh, and did I mention he’s a Republican? Yeah, the guy’s so conservative he leans to the right when walking. And lucky me, I’m running against him for Senate. But I’ve got plenty of fight in me. A golden boy war hero opponent with a smile that leaves melted panties in its wake? Bring. It. On.

Jude
Damn, she’s sexy. Reagan Preston intrigues me from the moment I lay eyes on her. And speaking of laying…I want between those thighs. But I want to make her burn for me first. Every debate and stolen moment is foreplay for us. She claims she hates me, but her body tells a different story. I plan to win this election, but I also want to win the sharp, fiery Democrat who captures my attention like no woman ever has. Politics is filthy, just like all the things I want to do to Reagan Preston.

Review by Jen Skewes

I loved this book.  Dirty Work is a political romance, which I must admit is not normally my thing.  I am not one for politics at all.  But this book completely worked for me.  I fell in the love with the characters and let me tell you, the sexual tension between them was off the charts.  Dirty Work is a romance between two people who shouldn’t even like each other.  They are enemies, both running against each other for the position of State Senator.  Any relationship between the two of them should be off limits, but what should be and what really happens aren't always the same.

Jude Titan is a war hero who is now running for Senate.  He wants to try to make a difference and help out his fellow war veterans at the same time.  He is tired of how the government runs things and wants to step in and change things.  He is looked up to by many, very easy on the eyes, loyal but at the same time cocky and a bit domineering.  But people love him and what he stands for.  Even his opponent cannot stop thinking about him.

Reagan Preston grew up in the world of politics, her father being the former Senator.  It is now her time to take over and follow in her father’s footsteps.  She has worked hard to get to this point and cannot let her father or the people down.  But Jude Titan proves to be a very tough opponent.  For one the people love him but he also seems to know how to get under her skin, in more ways than one.

There is no denying the chemistry between the two of them.  They seem to be a distraction for each other, not being able to get the other off of their mind.  But there is no way that either one of them can give into the feelings that they have.  It will ruin their careers and both of them have worked so hard to get where they are.  Will they take the risk and give into their feelings?

What I loved about this book is the connection between the two characters.  Jude knew how to push Reagan’s buttons, while flirting with her at the same time.  There was so much sexual tension between the two of them that you were just waiting for them to finally give in, to watch it all explode.  Jude was a very good guy.  He was loyal, sweet, caring and sexy as hell.  But what I loved was his dedication, and not just to the election but to what he had with Regan as well.

Reagan was a great heroine.  In ways I felt for her because it seemed like a lot of what she did was for her father.  She wasn’t being true to herself or what she really wanted in life.  But I loved that Jude helped her to in a way find herself and see who she really was.  She was sweet and I loved the flirtatious banter between her and Jude.  They were so good together and I just wanted to see them be able to tell the world how they really felt.

This book was a great read.  It was fun, flirty and had it’s share of drama.  What would any political election be without a scandal, without truths coming out that could hurt people.  And trust me this book has those moments.  Truths were revealed which caused drama and left you wondering how it would all play out.  I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how it would all end.  Would Jude and Regan make it?  Would the secrets that came out end both of their careers and their relationships?  You have to read to find out.

I have read all of Brenda Rothert's books but this is the first book that I have read by Chelle Bliss.  I hope we get to see more of this writing duo in the future.
