Synopsis

*New Adult Romance*

Forgiving your brother's murderer may be noble, but falling in love with him borders on betrayal.

When Paige Zukowski enrolls at Granton University in honor of her dead brother, she has no idea fate will land her on the same campus with the very guy who killed him. But Logan Xander isn't quite the murderer she's always believed him to be.

A day hasn't passed since the tragedy that Logan doesn't wish he could go back and undo everything. It doesn't take Paige long to realize he's suffered as much as she has. Forgiving him for ruining her life might not be so impossible after all. But when she actually starts to like him and realizes he likes her in return, their true anguish begins.

4 star review by Jen Skewes

Sometimes you can't help who you fall in love with.  No matter how hard you try to stay away from someone, sometimes you just feel this magnetic pull towards them and you find yourself not wanting to let go, no matter how much you know that being with that one person is wrong.  But sometimes the person that you thought was all wrong for you ends up being someone that you have an amazing and unexpected connection with, the one person who understands you, the one person who makes you happy and helps you to feel alive again.  For Paige Zukowski that person was Logan Xander, even if he was the person responsible for her brother's death.

The last three years for Paige have been filled with both pain and grief.  After her brother died, she watched as her father drowned his pain in alcohol and watched her mother fall into a deep state of depression, and eventually losing her as well.  It's been three years since her brother's death and she is determined to live the life that he was supposed to live. She enrolls in the college that he would have attended as a way of honoring him.  But when she made plans to move and attend Granton college she did not expect to run into the one person in the world that she hates, the person who took everything from her, Logan Xander.

Logan never forgot that fateful and tragic night 3 years ago.  He moved away from home to a place where no one know who he was or what he did.  He wanted to start over.  That memory of that night still haunts him but he is trying to move on, and become a better person.  Things have been going ok for Logan for the past three years, but now that the sister of the person he killed is going to the same school as him, that could all change.  Logan is afraid of what Paige will do and who she will tell about what happened that night.  He knows that if she tells one person what happened that night and what he did, that it could change everything for him.   Logan cannot seem to get Paige out of his mind and it's not just because he is afraid of what she will say.  He knows how much she hates him but for some reason he cannot stop thinking about her, wanting to know her.  He even finds himself sacrificing the things in life that make him happy to make her feel more comfortable and happy.  Falling for Paige Zukowski just isn't an option for him, at all..........or is it?

Paige is trying everything she can to stay away from Logan, but the truth is he is never far from her mind.  She should hate him, should want him to pay for what he did but there is this pull and connection towards him that she cannot explain.  As she starts to see Logan, I mean really look deep and see who he really is she sees that he is not the rich spoiled kid that she thought he was.  He is someone who made a stupid mistake three years ago and has been paying for it ever since.  He is just as broken and damaged from that night as she is.  But what she really saw was that he was truly sorry for what happened.  Logan doesn't believe that he deserves happiness and he certainly doesn't deserve Paige's love.

Paige and Logan grow closer and Paige eventually is able to forgive him.  But what will her father and best friend think of her relationship with Logan?   Can she really be falling for her brother's killer and can they honestly make it work?

"It's like you're the sunlight and I'm darkness.  You are so amazing, you don't even realize.  You've been so good for me.  I need you like I've never needed anything.  But I'm just bad for you.  I hate that."
I loved Paige and Logan.  They were both so broken and damaged in their own way as a result of an incident that they both experienced.  But in a way I think they both found each other and were able to move on and heal.  They both went to Granton to escape the life they lived at home.  They both wanted to move on and start a new life.  And somehow fate brought the two of them together.  Paige went to Granton University to honor her brother, and in the process she found two amazing new best friends, she found love and happiness when least expected, but I think she also found herself.  Logan was amazing! My heart broke for the both of them at times for all that they went through.  You felt the pain that they both felt, you saw how wonderful Logan is, how much he truly cared for Paige and how deeply sorry he was for what he did.  We watched as Paige struggled with her feelings for Logan and how despite everything that happened, being with him made her happy.  They were meant to be together and had this undeniable connection.  I loved how their relationship was slowly built and never rushed, which is what made this story real.  Fighting Fate was a beautiful story of forgiveness, redemption second chances, and finding love when least expected.  There are twists and turns along the way that will surprise you.  You will fall in love with both of these characters and be rooting for them to find happiness.  A Wonderful job by Linda Kage.

“Men shouldn’t know how to decorate anyway, using words like gaudy.” I let one brow raise and give him a suspicious smirk. “Do I need to learn how to fix the cars then? What if I get a flat?” “Oh baby,” he growls, his feet pounding the floor as he stalks toward me, “you questioning my manliness?” “Maybe,” I tease, slowing backing up. “Nancy.” My eyes dart anxiously around the room, mentally planning my escape route in this new territory. He laughs deeply, not a ‘ha ha that’s funny’ laugh, but more an ‘uh huh I’m coming to get ya’ sexy laugh. “Got it planned yet?” He grins knowingly, one eyebrow cocked. “Better run to wherever looks the most comfortable.” There’s no furniture yet, what is he talking about comfortable? Seeing the confusion on my face, he answers unasked. “Showing you how much of a man I am when I catch ya,” he creeps closer, “so I’d stay away from the tile, might hurt your back,” the mischief in his eyes ignites as he continues moving slowly closer, “or your knees.” Do I still have to pretend I don’t want to be caught? I love this side of Dane; the dominant, controlling, hunter than comes out more and more every day. The game’s precept itself is laughable; no one could question Dane’s virility. It seeps from his pores, an aura around him taking up all the air in a room. And he’s all mine. From his forever jostled brown locks and matching warm eyes, cocky lopsided grin and sculpted chest all the way to his eight back, that irresistible v and toned, tight ass- he is mine. “You wouldn’t!” I challenge, knowingly delightfully well that he would. “Oh baby, you know I can and will.” He flips open the button on his pants, that cocky grin suffocating me from where he stands, “I think you want me to.”

CHAPTER ONE

She walks into Yogurtland with her cell phone pressed to her ear and a scowl on her face. Behind the scowl, her vulnerability shines like a fucking nuclear explosion in a dark closet. Whoever she’s talking to has stripped her bare. I find myself wishing it were me who affected her that way. She’s digging inside her purse while balancing the phone between her shoulder and her ear; probably searching for money to get her frozen yogurt fix. What is it about frozen yogurt that makes us feel better? Maybe it reminds us of being kids, and how something as simple as a trip to the yogurt shop could turn a bad day into a great one. Whatever it is, I can see that she desperately needs some frozen yogurt. But with each passing moment that she’s unable to locate her money, I see the hope draining from her face. “I told you to stop calling me. I don’t care if your car is in the shop. I’m not picking you up!” She drops her purse and cell phone onto the checkered tile floor and curses loudly. “What the fuck are you staring at?!” she barks at the man who’s ogling her ass while ushering his small child out of the shop. “You’ve never seen a girl in a skirt bend over?” She falls to her knees as she reaches for the cell phone first. She presses it to her ear and says hello a few times before she realizes there’s no one there. I walk over to her, coolly taking my time, then I kneel next to her and reach for the lipstick tube that rolled behind her left foot. I hold it out in front of her. She looks sideways at me and her mouth drops as she’s stunned into silence. Most girls are stunned when they see me. I’m used to that. But Senia has seen me plenty of times. She’s not amazed by my good looks. She’s stupefied by my impeccable timing. Her gaze immediately falls to my lips, which are just inches from her own. Then she begins to sob as she throws her arms around my neck. I can’t help but chuckle. “Hey, it’s okay,” I whisper into her ear as I breathe in her scent. She smells like strawberries or pineapple. Something fruity. It’s intoxicating. I reach up and grab her face to pull her away, so I can look her in the eye. “What flavor do you want?” A tear rolls down her face and I wipe it away as she stares at me, still dumbfounded. “Cheesecake, with strawberries.” “Perfect.” I help her gather the rest of her belongings into her purse then I order her yogurt as she watches me from where she stands next to the trash bin. She watches me as I approach her with her bowl of frozen yogurt, one of her perfect eyebrows cocked skeptically. “Don’t look at me like that,” I say as I pass her the bowl of yogurt. “Why?” she says as she pops the first spoon of creamy yogurt into her mouth. She licks the spoon clean and I find myself wondering what it would feel like to have those full, red lips wrapped around my cock. I lean in and whisper in her ear, “Because you’re turning me on and I can’t fuck you in Yogurtland.” She continues to cock her eyebrow as she takes another spoonful of yogurt into her mouth. “Then maybe we should get the fuck out of Yogurtland.”
*****
In the three years I’ve known Senia, we’ve almost fucked three times. The first time happened the day I met her, after a show we played in Durham. We were interrupted backstage by Xander, the band’s manager, just as Senia was about to get on her knees. The second time was at a Memorial Day picnic. We were both pretty shitfaced and she ended up tossing her cookies all over me as I was sliding her panties off. The third time happened less than three months ago, in a pub restroom stall. She started crying and couldn’t go through with it; she was too heartbroken over her ex. I think the fourth time may be the charm for us. For some reason, this makes me really fucking nervous. I’m not afraid I won’t be able to satisfy her. There’s no doubt I’ll make her come harder than she’s ever come before. But for the first time in my life, I’m afraid of what will come after the sex. Senia is Claire’s best friend. Even if Claire and Chris never get back together, I know she’ll always be around. Chris is my best friend. I can’t avoid Claire and, therefore, I can’t avoid Senia. Something about this terrifies me and intrigues me; like I’m flirting with danger or, more accurately, fucking with danger. I grab the door handle on the passenger side of my silver Audi and pause as I look her in the eye and pull the door open. “Get in.” She smiles and shakes her head as she slinks into the passenger seat. “Please don’t bother using your manners.” “I won’t.” I slam the door shut and walk around to the driver’s side, tapping the trunk as I note my surroundings. It’s eight in the evening. There are only three other cars in the parking lot and at least one of those belongs to the guy working behind the counter in Yogurtland. I look up at the lamppost in front of the car illuminating the hood and shining through the windshield. I open the door and slide into the driver’s seat. Gazing into her eyes, for a moment I’m reminded of the last time my mom took me to get ice cream, when I was nine years old. I clench my jaw against the visceral nature of this memory and Senia takes this as an invitation. She climbs into my lap and takes my face in her hands as she crushes her lips to mine. I thread my fingers into her hair and roughly grab a fistful of her dark locks. She whimpers as I thrust my tongue into her mouth and squeeze my fist around her hair, intermittently tightening my grip then easing up. Finally, I pull her head back by her hair and her eyes widen with shock and excitement. That’s when I notice her styrofoam bowl of yogurt upended between us, the cold stickiness seeping through both of our shirts. She smiles as she swipes her finger through the cool, sticky substance and slowly eases her finger in her mouth. “Creamy,” she purrs. “Fuck,” I whisper as my dick jumps, trying to escape my jeans. I grab the bowl and toss it into the backseat and she smiles as I swipe my finger through the yogurt and reach under her skirt. Her thighs are smooth and warm against the back of my fingers as I move straight for her panties. She holds my gaze as I slip my fingers under the fabric and find her clit. She swallows hard as her smile melts into a look of pure ecstasy. “Oh, my God,” she breathes as I stroke her gently. I grab the back of her neck and pull her mouth against mine, swallowing her moans as if they were the air keeping me alive. I shove two fingers inside her and she gasps as I curve my fingers to reach her spot. Her body curls into me as I lick the soft skin below her earlobe. Abruptly, I remove my hand from her panties. Her face is incredulous as I lift her up by her waist and place her on the passenger seat. “Get in the back.” For a moment, it seems as if she’s questioning this abrupt request. “This better be good,” she says as she slithers between the two front seats to get into the backseat. I reach under her skirt as she crawls into the back and I yank down on her panties. “Jesus Christ, Tristan!” “Make up your mind,” I say as I place my hand on her ass and push her into the backseat. “Am I Jesus Christ or Tristan?” She laughs as I scramble into the backseat after her, holding onto her panties so she’s forced to leave them behind. I quickly position myself between her legs as she lies on her back and smiles. “You can be whoever the fuck you want.” I slide my arm under her waist and lift her up so I can place her back against the passenger side window. Pushing her skirt up, I spread her legs wide open and marvel at the sight of her. She perfectly shaved with a small landing strip of dark hair that ends at the top of her slit. “I prefer Tristan,” I say as I flash her my crowd smile. She whimpers like a kitten in pain, her hips writhing against me as I devour her slowly and methodically. She tastes like the frozen yogurt I smeared all over her. “Oh, Tristan,” she moans and I hook my arms tightly around her thighs to steady her as her legs begins to tremble. “Oh, my fucking God!” I suck gently as her clit pulsates against my tongue. She lets out a loud cry that sounds like a sigh mixed with a scream. I can’t help but smile as I continue to stimulate her until she grabs chunks of my hair and yanks me up. “Holy shit,” she breathes as she wraps her arms around my neck and pulls me on top of her. But she doesn’t kiss me. She just holds me there and I quickly begin to feel uncomfortable with this closeness. I begin to push away, but she tightens her grip. “Please don’t move,” she begs, and I can hear something strange in her voice—she’s crying. I lie still with her for a while until I no longer hear her sniffling. I slowly pull my head back to look her in the face and she quickly wipes at the moisture on her cheeks. “I’m sorry,” she whispers. I grab her hand and pull it away from her face. “It’s okay,” I murmur as I brush my thumb over her cheekbone. “No, it’s not,” she says, a hard edge to her voice as her hands reach down to undo the button and zipper on my jeans. “But it will be.” She pushes my boxers down until my dick springs free and I suck in a sharp breath as it comes in contact with her. “I don’t have a condom.” My shoulder-length hair hangs around my face as I hover over her. She reaches up and pushes my hair back as she pulls my mouth to hers. I groan as I try to resist making such a stupid mistake. Despite the rumors, I don’t have unprotected sex. I may be a whore like my mother, but I’m not as reckless as she is. I try to pull my face back, but Senia holds my head still. Suddenly, I’m royally pissed off. I rip my head out of her grasp and glare at her. “This is just a fuck. Nothing more,” I insist and her eyebrows scrunch together. A sharp pang of regret twists inside my chest. “I’m sorry.” Why the fuck am I apologizing? “Then shut up and fuck me,” she says as she tightens her legs around my hips and the tip of my cock presses against her opening. I slide in slowly, watching as she closes her eyes and tilts her head back. Leaning forward, I suck on her throat as I gradually ease myself further inside her with each stroke. “You’re tight as fuck,” I whisper as I carefully work my way deeper inside. She doesn’t respond, so I keep thrusting, slowly at first then working my way up to a steady pace. I pull my head back to see her face and her eyes are still closed. I don’t know why, but I want to see her eyes. “Look at me,” I command, and she opens her eyes instantly, her gaze finding mine. Her eyes are slightly red and that’s when I notice the tear tracks running from the corners of her eyes, down her temple, and disappearing into her dark hair. A strange urge overcomes me and I lean down and kiss her temple. Licking my lips, the saltiness of her tears turn me on even more. I ease my hand behind her knee and lift her leg higher so I can thrust deeper. She whimpers as she threads her fingers through my hair and pulls my mouth to hers. I kiss her slowly, matching the rhythm of my hips to the movement of our tongues. She bites my top lip and I feel myself getting so close to blowing my load. “Holy shit,” I whisper as I try to pull my head back, but she holds my head still and kisses me deeply as I let go inside her. My dick twitches as I fill her with my gushing warmth. I grunt into her mouth and she continues to kiss me, swallowing my cries the way I did hers. Finally, I tilt my head back and look her in the eye. Then I ask her a question I haven’t asked anyone since I broke up with Ashley four years ago. “Who was that on the phone?”

Review: A Graceful Mess by Nacole Stayton

Hiding behind the anguish from my past, my coyness seeps off of me like an aroma. I have felt like a stranger in my own skin, trying to claw my way out for far too long, allowing very few people to see past my façade…until my eyes met with his. I felt a sudden rush of energy all the way to my core. It jolted me in ways I never thought possible.

Never in a million years would I have expected to be in the mess I am today. It all leads back to the night Parker Porter turned my world upside down. The night his hazel eyes undressed me, peeling away the layers of the woman I tried so hard to be. He awoke desires that burned deep within me and changed me in one quick glance, leaving me vulnerable and exposed, picking up the shattered pieces of my carefully constructed life…a life I should not be living…a life I was not born into, but placed into by the state of Maine.

Parker opened a door that I am far from closing until I have answers and am able to face the life I was destined to live. I just have to decide if his love is worth the mess.

“They say be careful of the quiet ones.” –Grace

Warning: This book is intended for readers 18+ due to explicit language and sexual encounters.

5 Star Review by Amy Bustard
A 5-Star- Couldn't Put the book down-1-Day read.
Loved the story. Mixed with a little bit of everything.

Grace's story is full of love, loss, betrayal and secrets. Adopted from an orphanage at a young age and losing her best friend Brody, Grace doesn't remember anything from those years, not even Brody. She grows up not even knowing she was adopted. Always the quiet girl, Grace lives life more cautiously after a traumatic incident involving her ex-boyfriend until she meets Parker.

I think for the first time since I was eighteen, I have finally felt alive. I think Parker brought me back to life, and the scary part is that the version of me that was awakened isn’t a Grace anyone knows, but the Grace that has been buried deep within me. His touch unleashed her, and there is no going back now.

Parker- a Private Investigator hired by Grace's biological father to follow her and keep her true identity away from his political campaign. Parker is drawn to Grace's beauty when he meets her in a night club prior to starting her case.

Trying to protect her, I’ve caused her more pain. The worst part is I know I’m just going to hurt her like every other man she has ever known. Once she finds out who I am, and what I really do for work, she will hate me, but that’s a chance I’m going to have to take because I have no willpower left to continue to push her away.

Every time things seem to be going great for between Grace and Parker the past interferes forcing the two of them apart. When Brody comes back things intensify and someone gets hurt, things get so bad and all the secrets come out- Grace is pushed over the the edge. Grace must decide if the love she feels for Parker is enough to forgive him for his betrayal.

Review: Running Home by T.A. Hardenbrook

*This novel is intended for 18+ for mature content. Strippers, porn, drugs, law enforcement, and of course romance are all included in this package!

Carmen always had a wild streak about her while growing up in this small town. Everyone use to say her only saving grace in this world was her best friend Walker who tried to keep the flighty girl grounded. But life was too big for her to live in this one stop light kind of town; she had dreams and wants that could take her anywhere but staying there. Anything was better than being stuck in the perpetuating cycle of being born and dying in this hell hole she called the reality of a small town girl.

Walker was the only anchor that could hold her home, she lived for that boy. So how do you explain to someone that staying there would only suffocate the possibilities of making a better life for oneself? Running away was the only option, and leaving a piece of her heart with him would keep her strong out in the real world, at least she hoped it would.

After years of trying to make it on her own, struggling through life and trying to stay clean, the only reality she sees at surviving now is going back to the place she tried so hard to break free from. Unsure if her old life is willing to accept the choices she has made, the lone thought that matters to her is hoping she still has the only man she has counted on her entire life in her corner. You can always go home, but will they be willing to take you back?

4 Star Review by Amy Bustard

They were best friends and soul mates who wanted different paths in life. Abandoned by her drug addicted parents when she was a child and left to be raised in a small town by her grandparents; Carmen wanted nothing more than to flee the small town after graduation. Walker wanted nothing more than to keep her there with him but knew that was not going to happen. He already had his life planned out and would never leave his home.

Carmen:

I don’t know what I would do without this man sitting across from me. He had been there through thick and thin; sitting with me in detention, because he wouldn’t let me take the full blame on something I always messed up on, breaking curfew with my grandparents and having them ground me for weeks so we would spend every Friday night watching movies until they set me free again. This was the man who would pick me up and brought me home from school, always made sure I had eaten a meal, held my hair back when I partook in too much alcohol, and loved me unconditionally. How was I going to make it without him watching over my dumbass self? Why couldn’t he just come with me? Oh that’s right; he is already stuck in this small trap town; local sports hero who would join the Sherriff’s department after he graduates. Basically, a parade should be thrown from how fricken fantastic he is.

Walker:

Carmen drove me absolutely insane. She isn’t able to commit to anything in life always flying by the seat of her pants, and it normally ended in disaster. I have held her hand since we were eight: never once doubting her ability to succeed in life when she was doomed. I have stood up for her when others tried to bring her down, made sure she got home after a night of drinking herself into oblivion, and played her chauffer for the last two years because she was always terrified drive. So to hear that she is still hell bent on leaving this town basically breaks my heart in two. I loved that girl since I laid eyes on her walking into Miss Treva’s third grade classroom. I am the only person in the world that has seen the real Carmen; she has an amazing soul when she lets people see it. I’ve tried to keep her here, but Im afraid that it’s going to be the real end. After ten years of devoted friendship, I was finally going to lose my best friend to the lure of Hollywood lights.

Immediately after graduation Carmen leaves without even saying goodbye- breaking Walker's heart, entering into a new world where the small town may have just held better opportunities for her. Carmen takes a path that leads her straight into the life she swore she would never allow herself to be part of; Striping, Porn, Prostitution, drugs and jail..  Finding herself with no one to turn to, and nowhere to go, Carmen reaches out to the man she left behind with years of no contact wondering if the promise he made to her still stood true..  She had no choice but to call him- she needed him, she wanted nothing but to run back home..

She left, he continued on his path in his small town building his reputation in the Sheriff’s department. Never forgetting his best friend and never hearing from her Walker buries his feelings when Sadie walks into his life. New feelings are stirred up and a new love is in his life. Wedding bells, talk of babies; she is your typical small town southern bell and Walker is now ready to move on.

What happens to Carmen when she reaches out for Walker and his life is no longer the same? Can he help her or will his new life interfere? Can Carmen go home after she broke his heart? Will Walker bring her home after all that she has done??

4 Stars for this book! I am hoping we get a sequel and more to this story. It was an emotional one to read. What these characters went through! Love, loss, heart break and addiction. This was a very enjoyable read!

Warning 18+ sexual content and a strong Alpha Male.

4.5 Star Review by Allison East

Until November is the debut novel by Aurora Rose Reynolds and the first book in her Until series. I really enjoyed this book. It was a great plot with well-developed characters. If you love Kristen Ashley this book is for you!

November is almost twenty-five years old and has lived most of her life with her mother-a terrible person. A tragic event occurs and November leaves New York and moves to Tennessee to live with a father she has only known about for 7 years. She would have known sooner about him, but her mother is to blame. When she arrives she is welcomed by not only her father and her family on his side that she never knew. Finally she has a family, something her mother never gave her. November settles in quickly and begins to work for her father, doing the books for his club. Then her luck gets even better- because she meets Asher- mister alpha- caveman as I call him.

Asher Mayson is the oldest of 4 brothers. Asher is assertive, successful and is used to getting his way. While checking on security at a club one night he sees November, and he wants her. She does not stand a chance against Asher and his dominant ways

Things heat up between the pair quickly. When some threats towards November happen, Asher goes alpha-male and takes on her safety and protection. Asher will stop at nothing to claim November and make her understand that she means everything to him. With chemistry between the pair and their relationship, Asher is able to show November how worthy of love she is.
There are some plot twists and turns that you don't see coming, but that's what I loved about Aurora's writing.

Until November is a heart-warming book. I loved the secondary characters too, and look forward to their stories, this means Aurora has to keep writing them. Oh- and they are stand alones! Yippee!

Blog Tour: Madeleine Abducted by M.S. Willis

Book Description:
She was meant to be his destruction…
A pawn played in a perilous game between
father and son…
Yet, her strength was more than either
man could imagine.
As Maddy learns to save herself…
She becomes the one thing that could
set the son free.

Madeleine Clark was raised to become a concert cellist. Sheltered and naïve, she remains hidden behind her music, a protection from the world around her. On the night of her first solo performance, Maddy accepts the admiration of a stranger and finds herself captive in a cruel and twisted power struggle between a sadistic father and his son, Aaron.

Seemingly, dangerous and uncaring, Aaron manages the business operations of his father’s estate. Wanting nothing to do with the slaves kept at the Estate, Aaron refuses to take part in the deeper depravities of his father. Despite his resistance, Aaron’s father ‘gifts’ him with a petite, brunette woman he can’t refuse.

A bond forged in conspiracy and deceit, Aaron struggles to save Maddy by teaching her to survive in the world in which he’d been raised. An unlikely union, Aaron soon learns that great strengths can exist within small packages, while Madeleine learns that love and light can exist in the darkest of places.

4 star review by Jen Hagen

Madeleine (Maddy) is an accomplished cello performer.  She is a petite woman who hides behind the facade of a large instrument.  Maddy chooses to be invisible and the cello is an excellent coverup.  She does not enjoy being seen in the public eye and makes very few public appearances.  It is rare that on this night she is the star performer and is the focus of the evening.  Maddy has caught the attention of a very dangerous man and he happens to be in the audience on this particular evening and is infatuated with Maddy’s performance.  His meeting with her behind the curtain begins the end of Maddy’s invisible life.

As blackness overtook her as Madeleine realizes that, tonight, the stage was not what she needed to fear.

When Maddy awakens, she is naked and in a dark room.  She has been captured by Joseph Carmichael, the head of The Estate.  She will be a sex slave to his son, Aaron, and will be on display for all members of The Estate to enjoy.  Joseph is a crazy man who thrives on madness and enjoys seeing his son trying to take the bad and make it good.  Aaron is a 25-year-old assassin for The Estate.  He is a very dangerous man who enjoys the thrill of the kill, but he is not as deeply disturbed and dark as his father.  Aaron would like nothing better than to see his father’s leadership end, even if it means killing his father.

Aaron does not want this lifestyle for Maddy, but he has no choice but to play the game alongside his father.  Not playing would result in either Maddy’s death or worse, her living as a slave to his father and his minions.  Aaron resolves to keep Maddy safe but at the same time preparing her with the knowledge that she must be a slave under all intents and purposes.  This façade is detrimental in order to keep her safe.

Her embarrassment was certain, her privacy would be shredded to tattered rags, but her body would remain whole.  Of that, Aaron was certain.

Aaron and his father continue to butt heads at every turn.  Aaron is planning to overtake his father, but this requires patience and recruiting members to his side.  It is difficult to know who to trust.   Being in Aaron’s closed quarters, Maddy is aware of what is happening outside of their 4 walls.  She wants to become a part in taking down her abductor and wants to assist Aaron even if means her release from captivity is nothing more than a dream.

Aaron and Maddy develop a special bond.  She sees him as her protector and he sees her beauty and strength.   Aaron does all he can to make certain that Maddy is never placed in danger.  The time approaches sooner than they anticipated when they are forced to make their move against his father.  Who will become defeated?  It’s a blood bath and will have you holding your breath as you await to see who becomes the winner.

I will not let Madeleine’s life slip away in order to save mine.  She is light while I am darkness, she is raw beauty and so blessedly pure while I am nothing more than a poison to humanity.  She deserves her life far more than I deserve mine.

There are some sexual scenes that are graphic in detail, however I anticipated this book having many more graphic sexual scenes because of the nature of the story.   There are a couple violent scenes near the end of the book that are very graphic.  Please keep this in mind if you are not comfortable with these details.

Excerpt

Green, the color of jade, the color of budding life in Spring, burned down into her; backlit and heated by a fire of rage, of need.  Aaron’s mouth curved at the ends, an unknown thought amusing to him as she attempted to stand up to a man who controlled her completely…owned her in a way that no man should be allowed.

Like lightning, he moved quickly, so fast and unexpected, that Maddy gasped when the weight of his body came down on her.  The pills fell from her hand to the floor as Aaron pushed her back on the bed, held his body above her, his hand roughly traveling up the side of her torso, lifting her shirt to expose her breasts to his gaze.  “If I wanted to take you, Madeleine, I wouldn’t have to drug you to do so.”  The heat of his mouth stung as he wrapped his full lips around the peak of her breast.  His tongue laved against the sensitive tip, his teeth grazing the same area where he had marked her before.  A cry escaped her lips, part fear, part surprise; part lust so subtle, it caused her heart to skip in its rhythm.  As he worked her body into a frenzy, his hand traveled down to cup her between her thighs.  A single finger tapped against the opening to her body, she cried out again, not understanding the heat that bloomed within her core.  He pushed up suddenly, watched as she lay panting beneath him.  “Even if your mind did not remember my cruelty, your body certainly would.  The pain of being split apart when I bury myself within you cannot be easily forgotten…even if done while drugged.”

Just as quickly as he’d come down on top of her, he stood.  His eyes searched the floor and when he found the pills, he bent over to pick them up.  This time not an offer, but a demand, his hand reached to wrap around her face, squeezing her cheeks until her mouth fell open.  Shoving the pills onto her tongue he grabbed the glass of water, poured the contents down her throat, washing her new form of chains down into her body.  “I have no plans to grant you the satisfaction of my cock, I simply want you to sleep.  I don’t feel like spending the evening jumping up every time I think you are attempting to escape.”

Aaron took the glass and as he walked to place it in the bathroom he commanded, "Lay down, Maddy, close your eyes and let sleep take you.  That will be the only thing having its way with your body tonight."
