  • NEW DARK ROMANCE by Heather C. Leigh

Jagger
Book Summary

I sell drugs. Heroin to be specific. And I'm fucking good at my job. Enough to fight my way to the top position, controlling all of Austin's supply.

So what if I had to kill the previous boss to do it. I do what has to be done. Never cared about consequences because I never had anything to lose.

Until I met Miri. My doll. She's my weakness and somehow, my enemies found out about her.

If they hurt her, they will regret the day they ever heard my name. Boss. They call me Boss for a reason. What I say goes, including the price on the heads of anyone who dares to fuck with what belongs to me.

My Miri.

Review by Jen Skewes

This is the conclusion to Junkie which ended in a way that left me nervous about what would happen next. Jagger starts off exactly where Junkie left us. Miri has been taken by Jagger's enemies as a way to get revenge on him. I honestly was not sure how this story would go in the sense of what would they do to this poor girl who has already been through so much. At some moments I wanted to close my eyes and not have to read what was coming next. Trying my hardest not to skip those dark parts that caused knots in my stomach. It was as if I was going through it with her, except for one little fact. Miri was a much stronger person than I think I would ever be. She held on and faced everything that they did to her with strength. She held on for herself and for Jag. She would not let them break her no matter how hard it seemed to be.

Jagger deals with what happens next, after Miri is kidnapped. Through it all you see just how deep their love for each other truly is. You see Miri fighting to survive and then you see Jag struggling with himself as well as being without the woman that he loves. Jag is the man that is sweet and loving and misses everything about his doll/ Boss on the other hand is the drug lord who will do anything to get his woman back. He is the guy that will kill the people who have hurt her. You see the struggles that he goes through trying to e the Boss so that he can think clearly and make the right decisions. Because when he is Jag he seems to become a little soft where Miri is concerned. But right now he needs to be the right man for her. In order to save her he needs to put it all aside and concentrate on what needs to be done.

I really enjoyed this second installment. I was on the edge of my seat as I turned each page. I needed to know how it would all end, who do you trust and who will stab you in the back. There was so much drama angst and suspense that I just could not put this book down. My emotions were up and down, praying that it would all be ok. Feeling for Miri and what she was going through. At the same time I found myself yelling at Jag not to trust certain people. I love the two of them together and wanted them to get the happy ever after.

This is the first series that I have read by this author. Overall I loved it but for me I wish that there was a little bit more emotional moments between the two of them and less intimate scenes. I guess I wanted to know more about Miri's past and how she got where she was. But I also wanted it in a way where they shared their pasts and their emotions with each other. But over all a very enjoyable read.

Meet Heather C. Leigh
heather c leigh bio.jpg

Heather C. Leigh is the author of the Amazon best selling Famous series. She likes to write about the 'dark' side of fame. The part that the public doesn't get to see, how difficult it is to live in a fishbowl and how that affects relationships.

Heather was born and raised in New England and currently lives outside Atlanta, GA with her husband, 2 kids, and French Bulldog, Shelby.

She loves the Red Sox, the Patriots, and anything chocolate (but not white chocolate, everyone knows it's not real chocolate so it doesn't count) and has left explicit instructions in her will to have her ashes snuck into Fenway Park and sneakily sprinkled all over while her family enjoys beer, hot dogs, and a wicked good time.

My favorite authors are Dan Wells, Ken Follett, and Stephen King.

Dark shadows lurk behind his soulful, serious eyes.

I’m enamored. He’s captured me.

Review by Jen Skewes

Stroked Long is the second book in this series but so completely different from what I expected, in a good way of course.  While the first book was filled with over the top humor, this one is more emotional, but also filled with with humor in the form of one quirky heroine who I loved.

Bodi Banks is an Olympic swimmer and one of the best there is.  To most people he is sexy, confident, strong and in control.  But beneath that hard exterior is something altogether different from what people see.  Bodi is a very closed off person, not wanting to get close to anyone which means he doesn’t ever do relationships.  He basically trains, swims and keeps to himself.  I am not even sure that saying there is a wall around him is correct.  But there is definitely this huge barrier that has stopped everyone from getting close to him.  His anxiety, OCD, fears and most of all guilt is what holds this man back from really living and enjoying life the way a man his age should be.  No one has ever been able to crack Bodi Banks before, but once Ruby Hearts enters his life that is all about to change.

Ruby is sweet, loving, a bit awkward at times, quirky and fun.  These two could not have been any different.  But that is what worked so well with them.  Ruby is so carefree, not caring what others think.  She knows she is quirky but that is what makes her so loveable.  It is the exact reason that Bodi is drawn to her.  From the moment he met her, jazz hands and all he was hooked, even if he had a hard time admitting it to himself or anyone else for that matter.  These two are complete opposite but yet so perfect together.  But Bodi has so much baggage that he is carrying around with him.  He never lets anyone in.  Will Ruby be the one to break down that barrier and open his heart?

I really enjoyed this story.  It was the perfect balance of humor and emotion.  I was completely sucked in from the moment I read the prologue.  The very beginning of this book is emotional and will break your heart.  But it helps to understand why Bodi is the way he is.  Trutfully my heart aced for this man.  He had carried so much on his shoulders since he was a little boy.  The guilt completely ate at him and as a a result he became this man who was so closed off that he was missing out on so much that life had to offer, specifically love.  But Ruby hearts changed that and these two together were just meant to be together.  Her quirkiness to his seriousness made for a great story.  I loved watching the change I Bodi, loved seeing him open up his heart in a way that he never ever thought was possible. And the best part was the woman who helped him get there.

Stroked Long was a wonderful story and I cannot wait for the next one in this series.

Reese King: Olympic medalist, underwear model, Greek god.

His body is chiseled from rock, sculpted by the weight room, and refined by water.

On a daily basis his skin is completely bare for everyone to see, tan and defined, only covered up by a minuscule piece of spandex. There is no denying his sex appeal.

I hate to admit it, but I’m head over heels infatuated with him.

There is one HUGE problem though. His achingly gorgeous abs, inked up arm, and cocky swagger belong to my boss, the high-profile, reality star bitch from hell and certified heinous human being, Bellini Chambers.

What I think is going to be an easy job assisting a glorified wench turns into a cluster f*ck of epic proportions.

About the Author:

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if "It's Raining Men" starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing... enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

Blog Tour: Drawn Deeper by Brenda Rothert

BLURB:
I’ve come undone. For years I thought the world looked at my family and saw perfection. I was a busy surgeon and my wife was devoted to our two boys. But her devotion crumbled as her alcoholism took over. The outside world saw all too well what I wanted to deny.

Ten months ago she filed for divorce, packed up and moved away. To where – I don’t know. Nor do I care. But my boys do. And they’re left with me, a man who never learned how to be the dad they deserve.

Just when I’m starting to pick up the pieces, my world is rocked again by the last woman I’d expect. Given her past with my family, she’s a bad idea. But I’m drawn like a moth to a flame. I can’t stay away, even though I know this, too, will eventually crumble around me.

Drawn Deeper is the third book in this series and Kyle Lockhart’s story.  I love this series and could not wait for his book.  After meeting him in the first two books and seeing all that he has been going through with his ex wife I wanted to see him find someone who would love him unconditionally and for him to find his happily ever after.

It has been about 10 months since his divorce and right now the most important thing in Kyle’s life is his two boys. When he was married he may not have always been there for them because of his long and crazy hours as a surgeon.  But everything in his life has changed and his kids come before anything.  He has no plans of meeting anyone right now.  It’s just him and his boys and that is all he needs.  Until Meredith comes into his life, changing everything he thought he wanted and needed.

Meredith doesn't have the best reputation in the small town of Lovely and the Lockharts are not exactly her biggest fan right now.  But talking to Kyle Lockhart, spending time with him and his children sparks something in her.   When she came back to town because her father needed her she never thought she would find someone that made her feel.  Not in this town and especially not a Lockhart.  But Kyle is this amazing man who loves his children and makes her feel special.  Being with him even just as friends at first is easy for her. They certainly have a connection and loving his children is the icing on the cake.  But can Kyle and Meredith really have any sort of relationship together?  Given the way their families feel about each other as well as their history will their relationship be accepted by all?

First I must say that where Kyle Lockhart is concerned, Ms. Rothert did not disappoint.  Just the way that man loved his kids, and how he completely stepped up when it was time to really be a father alone made my heart swoon.  But then throw in the way he was with Meredith and that just made me fall in love with him even more.  He never treated her like anything other than the person that she was.  He never held her past with his brother against her.  He was kind and sweet and the two of them together had such great chemistry.  They both had their issues where love was concerned but together they were able to move on from it.

Meredith was a wonderful heroine.  I honestly never faulted her for what happened all those years ago.  Things happen for a reason and this is a perfect example of that.  She really was a caring person and I loved how much she fell for not only Kyle but his two boys.  She was there for them and loved them and cared for them at a time when they really needed it. There was a moment towards the end that I absolutely loved.  It was a moment between Meredith and one of the other Lockhart women and it just proved how you truly can move and and how there are people who can move on from the past and live in the present.  It really was a touching moment that I loved.  This was another fantastic story from Ms. Rothert.  I loved seeing all of the Lockhart men and cannot wait for the next one.

I fell in love with a man who didn’t exist.

His body transformed into a weapon, stealing parts of me until ultimately….
I broke.

I hated him.
My sole job in life became to protect our daughter.

I wasn’t sure I’d ever escape the prison he’d skillfully crafted from my fears.
Until the day our savior arrived.

Review by Jen Hagen

While I enjoyed the first installment of this tale of two couples, I didn’t feel as if I bonded with this secondary set of characters as well as I did with Roman and Elisabeth, who were the focus of the first book.  Roman and Elisabeth definitely play a part of this story, and the plot line continues to involve their characters, but there is no further in-depth characterization of them.
The story picks up immediately where the first ended, and it has our heads spinning as we try to work out the pieces.
“How are you here?” she whispered on a shaky breath.  She was about to crash.  Emotionally.  Mentally.  Physically.
There is more suspense added to the story along with a revelation that I didn’t anticipate.  Sometimes evil turns into a goodness we just have to embrace and forget where the root lies.
“This changes nothing,” she vowed.  She was wrong; it changed everything.  But different could be good.
I admired the adversity the characters were given along with their discovery of how much they relied upon each other to get through it all.  Lives are intertwined by goodness and evil.
“Don’t shut me out,” I told the door.  “You need time alone, that’s fine, but you gotta let me know you’re okay.”
I heard her humorless laugh.
“I’m not sure I’ll ever be okay,” she said.

I continued to be wowed by Elisabeth’s strength, determination, and compassion.  I honestly don’t think I could have made such a heartfelt gesture without at the same time ripping out pieces of my heart.  Elisabeth continues to show her grace, while Roman’s protection and fierce love proved how much he loved Elisabeth.  (I just had to slip them into the review once again because I adore them as a couple!)

I have always appreciated the details that Ms. Martinez places in her stories, and once again she doesn’t leave out anything.  As an entirety, this duo is a great read, but I just felt more of a connection with the characters from the first book.

RETRIEVAL is available and brings readers the first part of this emotional second chance romance.
