Synopsis
Introducing book 1 in the new Checkmate Duet Series from a secret duo of romance authors under the USA Today bestselling pseudonym, Kennedy Fox!

This friends to lovers romance will have you swooning and laughing from the first to the last page! Are you ready to play the game?

Drew Fisher is the type of guy every girl wants.

Noble police officer by day, charming prince by night.

He has no idea the effect he has on women, especially me—his little sister’s best friend.

I’m the blonde Southern belle who lives up to the cliché, except I have my own quirks. I’m smart as a whip, can change my own oil, and recite The Pledge of Allegiance backward, but he doesn’t see that girl.

It’d be easier to forget him if he wasn’t my roommate and if the first thing I saw in the morning wasn't his shirtless body covered in tattoos. I’ve crushed on him since the day we met, but he’s made it perfectly clear where we stand. Just friends.

I know I need to move on and accept that his feelings will never be mutual, but every day he smiles at me, I’m left dreaming of what if.

He has girl issues, and I’ve got a crush I can’t deny.

We’re friends, but I want more.

One drunken hookup leaves us with much more than a platonic friendship. Pretending it never happened proves to be more difficult than anticipated.

A crazy ex-girlfriend, a dangerous war of stolen glances, and passionate kisses leads to the most reckless battle yet. I won’t be a pawn in his game, but I’ll play by his rules if it will show him I’m the one worth breaking them for.

Checkmate, Prince Charming.

*Recommend for ages 18+ due to sexual content and adult language.*
**This is book 1 of 2 in the Checkmate Duet Series--a friends to lovers romance. Highly recommended to read the Checkmate Duet, This is War and This is Love first, but not necessary. This can read as a standalone duet.**

Drew Fisher is Viola’s brother and Travis’ best friend. Their story was the Checkmate Duet Series.  Courtney is Viola’s best friend and Drew’s roommate. Ok, so now that all the chess pieces are in place, what’s going on? Drew has been off and on with a she-witch named Mia Montgomery.

She’s the classic tall, skinny dark-haired goddess who thinks she rules the world and everyone in it.

She is a lying, manipulative cheater that for some reason, Drew cannot resist. Their last break up has lasted a few weeks and Courtney is hoping that her best friend is finally ready to move on…Not so fast there Courtney…

Too bad Drew Fisher is blind as a fucking bat.

What Drew doesn’t know is that Courtney is secretly in love with him. Has been for years. But she also knows that until he gets over Mia, she will never have a chance. I have to admit that Drew wore on my nerves something fierce. This guy seems to have so much going for him and yet Mia crooks her little finger, shakes her ass in his face and he caves. Over and over. No matter how many times she pulls her drama scenes, humiliates him, and walks all over him, he takes her back.

Mia Montgomery is the only woman I’ve ever truly loved. I know our relationship hasn’t been perfect over the last few years, but working for it makes the good times that much sweeter.

But things change as Travis and Viola’s wedding approaches. Is Drew finally seeing what is in front of his face? Obviously, this is a duet, as in two, as in cliffhanger. So when you read the last paragraph of the last page and you find your jaw hanging open, don’t say I didn’t’ warn you!

For the first time in my life, I’m truly happy in a relationship.

Blog Tour: Mister Wrong by Nicole Williams

AP new - synopsis.jpg

Cora Matthews grew up with the Adams boys, twin brothers and best friends who wouldn’t let anything come between them except for one thing—her. One of them became her best friend, the other, her fiancé.

She always knew she’d wind up marrying one of them, and Jacob Adams is the very epitome of Mister Right. At least he is up until he fails to show up for their wedding day. Not that Cora realizes it. At first.

As Jacob’s best man, and identical twin, Matt makes a split second decision, but one that will affect the three of their lives forever—he steps in to take his brother’s place. In front of the altar, exchanging vows with the woman he’s secretly been in love with for years.

Cora eventually finds out about the groom swap. The morning after the wedding. As if realizing she just slept with her fiance’s brother wasn’t disturbing enough, she’s forced to confront her feelings for Matt Adams she thought she’d buried years ago.

Matt’s wrong for her. In every way. But through the course of her real honeymoon with her fake husband, she starts to uncover truths both Adams brothers were hoping to keep hidden, for opposite reasons. One to protect himself, the other to protect her.

She married the wrong brother, but what if he’s been the right one all along?

Review by Lisa Kane

Mr. Wrong is a short angsty story about choices. Some good, some bad, and in the end all necessary.

Matthew Adams' brother Jacob is marrying the woman of his dreams. Matthew's dreams. Cora Matthews has been the woman he has wanted since the moment they met but she had eyes for his brother Jacob.

Today, Cora Matthews would become Cora Adams. She'd have my last name. But not in the way I'd hoped for-not that I hadn't accepted that years ago.

What's Matt to do when Jacob doesn't show up for his own wedding?

Matthew Adams had never been her whole world, but unknown to her, she'd been mine. That was why I was standing here now, posing as my twin brother, as his fiancee took the final steps toward me.

Jacob is the chosen one-the spoiled one-the one that was coddled and raised to think he could have anything he wanted-anyone he wanted. Matt knows lots of things about Jacob, things that make him crazy when he thinks about all that Jacob has-he has Cora-and yet that doesn't seem to be enough for him.

The problem arose when the boy grew into a man who wanted to be equally indulged in all sorts of ways that a wife would likely frown upon.

So what happens when Matt decides to take Jacob's place? Once the deed is done, there's no turning back. Matt has the woman he has always had, but she's Mrs. Jacob Adams, not Mrs. Matt Adams.

I have to admit, no matter how identical twins might be, there are certain mannerisms that set them apart. Too habits or sayings or gestures. So I did wonder exactly how in the dark Cora is and for how long this charade would last.

"Oh my god."The wallet dropped to the floor as she backed away from me. "Please, no."

Mr. Wrong has some gut wrenching raw moments. Truths are exposed and lives are shattered and hearts-well I really only worried about Matt and Cora's hearts-Jacob-he can rot for all I cared about him.

There's a few twists in this one too-so don't assume that you know exactly where this story is going to go!

"Your walls might have been invisible, but they were invincible."

“So?” I crossed my arms and leaned into the banister behind me. “Did you? Like my brother?”
She sighed, turning toward the open door. “Jacob . . .”
“What? It’s a fair question.” I shoved off the banister, feeling hope and heat tangling in my veins from the look on her face, from the sound of her voice. She’d felt something for me, whether it be the most passing of crushes or something much deeper. Realizing that had me feeling drunk from something other than alcohol. “Besides, you’re stuck with me now. Won’t matter what you ’fess up to.”
Cora started through the doorway. “I don’t want to talk about it.”
Grabbing the suitcases, I followed her. I wasn’t letting this go. Never. Not if she threatened death or castration or anything else. “Why not?”
She broke to a sudden stop a few feet inside the room. “Because I don’t want to focus on the past. I want to concentrate on the future. That’s not going to work if you keep asking me questions about Matt.”
There was a sharpness in her voice—one she didn’t use too often. She didn’t want to keep talking about me, which only made me want to continue talking about me. I’d struck a nerve, but I wasn’t sure how deep that nerve went.
I needed to know how deep it went. I had to know. My whole life, I’d been under the impression that Cora saw me as nothing more than a good friend and substitute brother. She cared for me, but not in the same way I cared for her.
Or did she?
“This thing with Matt . . .”
Her back stiffened.
“Was it a thing? Like ancient history? Or is it still a thing?” I closed the door and wondered why I could feel my heartbeat in my eardrums.
She kept her back to me, standing in the middle of the dark room like a lone ship on a vast ocean. “I married you.”
Yeah, she did marry me.
“But if he’d made a play for you, way back before all of this”—I waved my finger between the two of us, not that she could see it—“would you have given him a chance?”
“He never made a play for me.” Her voice sounded faraway, like she was out of reach when she was less than an arm’s length away.
“That doesn’t answer my question.” I stepped closer. “If he had? Would you have?”
Her back was moving faster from her quickened breathing. This conversation was making her uncomfortable. Why was that?
“Stop, Jacob. Enough.” She spun on me, swaying in place just enough that I reached out to steady her. She shook my hand away like it was white-hot. “I’m not going to get into another fight with you over Matt. I’m done. I picked you. I married you. What else do I have to prove?”
“That you don’t—”
“I don’t love Matt!” Her arms flung out at her sides as her voice spilled across the room. ‘There. I said it. Are you happy now? Are you happy we’ve managed to get into another argument over this infatuation you’re convinced I have for your brother? On our wedding night of all times?” She glared at me with bleary eyes. I couldn’t tell if that was from tears or from alcohol. Maybe both.
“Cora, I’m sorry.” I ran my hands through my hair, wondering what in the hell I was doing—for the millionth time that day. Deceiving her, betraying her, and now accusing and angering her. Maybe I didn’t know the first fucking thing about love. Maybe Jacob knew more about it than I did, because I wasn’t sure love was supposed to hurt as badly as this did.
“Just . . . enough already.” As she shouldered past me, I reached for her, but she shook me off. “I need to be alone.”
She slammed the front door behind her a moment later, leaving me alone with my idiocy.
“Cora,” I called to an empty room. I wasn’t thinking when I rushed toward the door after her. “Cora!”
The moment I pulled the door open, something crashed into me. It made a sharp breath rush out of my mouth as I staggered back a few steps.
My arms barely had time to wrap around her before Cora’s mouth was on mine, moving in such a way that made staying upright next to impossible. Before I had a chance to catch up to the fact that I was kissing Cora in an entirely different way than we’d kissed at the wedding and reception, her fingers were working at my belt. Quickly.
I didn’t know she’d already gotten it undone before she’d moved on to my zipper. The sounds she was making as she kissed me, the way her body felt aligned against mine, the way her mouth knew the intricate balance of submission and domination . . . one moment at a time, Cora was crushing the last remnants of my resolve. Destroying the final pieces of my views of right and wrong.

Release Blitz: Mr. Popular by Nicole London

Title: Mr. Popular
Author: Nicole London
Genre: New Adult Romance
Release Date: February 27, 2017

Blurb

Rule #1: Do not vote for Mr. Popular.
Rule #2: Do not talk to Mr. Popular.
Rule #3: (Most importantly, and above all) Do not fall for Mr. Popular...

Liam 'Mr. Popular' Carter will always be the closest thing to the "walking plague" in my eyes. His cockiness seeps through his every move, and no matter how many state championships he wins with the basketball team, he will forever be a "loss" to me.

Because he's my older brother's best friend, I'm forced to tolerate him, and he's forced to tolerate me. In fact, unless my brother is around, we happily ignore each other every chance we get.

It wasn't always this way, though...

Several summers ago, we both attended the same summer camp. A place we returned to year after year. We became friends--close friends, but right when I thought he could possibly turn into my everything, he made it clear that what we had was nothing.

Now that's he's a senior, and I only have to deal with him for one more year, I've vowed to keep repeating the same set of rules to myself. Especially since he seems so hell-bent on wanting to talk to me for some reason, and especially since he seems to be staring at me every time we're in the same room together...

Rule #4: Always follow rules #1-3...
Rule #5: (OMG what the hell are you doing?) Do not KISS Mr. Popular...

4 STARS!

Review by Lisa Kane

Liam Carter is the "it" guy-gorgeous, smart, talented-the one that every guy envies and every girl wants. He's Mariah Dawson's older brother Zach's best friend.

If I'm ever granted my wish of personally kicking one person off this planet, that person will definitely be Liam Carter. )Also knows as Mr. Asshole Mr. Popular) Star of the basketball team, top cheater on the national Spanish exam (there's no way he scored higher than me), and man of my nightmares, Liam walks through our school's hallways as if he owns them.

Mariah's a sophomore in high school and Zach and Liam are both seniors. Zach is overly protective of Mariah. And that's an understatement. Ever since their dad died, he's become a self appointed protector-he makes sure that no guy thinks he has a chance with her. Of course, Zach is a total manwhore. It's not just a different girl every day-there's lots of days that there's often two in one day.

What most people don't know is that once upon a time Liam and Mariah were close. They both went to the same summer camp every year and there they became friends. But then Liam broke Mariah's trust and she didn't want anything else to do with him. But they are thrown in each other's universes and have to deal with hanging out. I know they are young, but I have to admit, Liam has screwed up more than once and I can well understand why Mariah has a hard time trusting him.

Suddenly it seems that Liam thinks about Mariah as more than Zach's little sister. But she shuts him down every chance she gets. Can he break through Fort Knox?

The thing is that the world sees Liam as this crazy talented basketball player that has colleges lining up to recruit. But he has no interest in sports. He wants to study to be a doctor and he takes studying seriously. Yeah he enjoys the attention, but he doesn't need it. Mariah is the only person who seems to get that.

I actually feel really bad for him. It's like I'm the only one who sees how he really feels about playing basketball.
Of course this is high school and that means drama...lots of drama. Just when Mariah opens up her heart and lets down her guard-BAM! She regrets it and Liam has his work cut out for him.

"The only reason we haven't spoken in months is because you hold a grudge better than anyone I know," he says. "You really need to stop giving yourself reasons to hate me."

Liam is a good guy, Mariah is a treasure, but sometimes it seems like fate (and scheming ex's) is against them.

I'm not sure if this is going to become a series or not-I have to say, Kelsey is hilarious and I would love to see her give Zach a run for his money!

"And as a matter of fact, I've never loved any of my girlfriends until you. Like a lot, sure, but it was never like this."

4 ½ stars
Review by Lisa Kane

I loved Hotshot (although that book hurt my heart!!) and when I saw that this book had the same characters and a few new ones, I dug in! Nick Bennett is on the fast track to be drafted by the NFL. He has a date with sweet Grace Monroe who’s at the same college. They instantly connect and then…the floor drops out from beneath Grace. She literally disappears off the radar and Nick is left alone.

Fast forward two years later and Nick is the hot shot quarterback with the nickname Sexy Six. He’s led his team into a Super Bowl championship. His brother Shaw represents him. When he gets a glimpse of a woman that he thinks is Grace he just about loses it. But when he tries to find her he turns up empty. He sets Shaw on the case and let’s face it, there’s not much Shaw can’t do when he sets his mind to it.

“When I asked Shaw to find you, I was curious, wanting to see you again, talk to you, get answers and see how you were doing. That curiosity turned into so much more the second my eyes landed on you last Thursday.”

Grace is now the co-owner of Monroe Gallery along with her brother Logan. When Nick weasels his way into an appointment with her, it’s obvious neither one of them ever forgot the other. Nick is not about to let Grace get away again.

Now, he’s kissing me like a man kisses a woman he hasn’t seen in two years, six months, and seventeen days.

The thing I loved about this story is that Nick is a really great guy. He isn’t your typical manwhore that sees the light. Football and his family are his priorities. He’s had casual hook ups but just hasn’t found that one person –that is until he reconnects with Grace.

“Babe, I’ve never dated in my life. The only girl I ever wanted to date slipped through my fingers and ditched me. For years, no one has even turned my head. My life has been football and family, and I’ve been fine with that.”

Getting caught up on Bizzy and Shaw and Claire and Mathis (Nick’s other brother who is studying to be a doctor) is a bonus! While there are more than a few angsty moments in this one, it won’t tear you apart. Although I had to keep reminding myself that guys screw up and Nick is no exception. But this guy is truly swoon worthy. Now here’s hoping that Mathis gets his own book too!

“I’m so in love with you, Nick Bennett.” She rises on her toes and kisses me quickly. “It’s a good thing because you’ve stolen my heart twice in my life.”

Review by Lisa Kane

Henry is the Crown Prince, heir to the throne of Wessco. For most of his life he was the spare to the heir. But thanks to his brother, Nicholas giving up his right to the throne in order to marry his love Olivia (their story was Royally Screwed) Henry now finds himself in a unique position.

How did Nicholas put up with this for all those years? I used to think he was a drama king. A downer and a whiner.
Now I understand. I've walked a mile in his shoes-and they're filled with shit.

Henry seems to have a problem living up to his grandmother, the Queen's expectations. His life is so different now then it was before and it's more than he wants or can handle.

"I didn't ask for any of this!"
To be put in this position. To be weighed down with this crushing responsibility. I never wanted the keys to the kingdom-I was happy with just coming and going through the damn door.
My grandmother straightens and lifts her chin. Unmoving and unwavering.
"No, you weren't my first choice either."
Ouch.

When Henry is offered a reality show-a bachelor type of drama-this is just the thing he needs to escape from the shackles that are slowing choking him.

Sarah Von Titebottum (don't you love that name!)  is shy and reserved. She suffers from anxiety and loud noises can shut her down. Her sister Penelope is much more outgoing and a would be actress. When they are approached for the reality show Matched which will feature Prince Henry Sarah immediately turns it down. Penelope is intrigued. Although Henry's reputation is no secret.

Penny rolls her eyes. "Henry's a lot of fun and he's fantastic to look at, but he's a playboy-everyone knows that. When he marries he won't have just a mistress; he'll have a whole harem. We would never work."

But of course Penny is persuaded to do the show-along with a slew of other beauties. But shy Sarah will accompany her sister to make sure she stays out of trouble. Guess which sister catches the prince's eye?

How can a reserved beauty ever be part of the over the top life of the prince who will be king?

And the man who will be my king sinks to his knees before me.

Royally Matched combines great humor and wit with some very poignant moments. A man who never quite believed who could be good enough with a woman that has lived in her sister's shadow for too long meet and love and must pay the toll for a life together. I am loving this series!

And that, that's the story you won't see on television or read in the history books. The tale of an unruly prince who found the queen of his heart, and learned how to be a King.
