Blog Tour: Tug by KJ Bell

K.J. Bell's TUG is now available. This book is HOT! Check out the blurb and teasers and be sure to enter the giveaway too! **Tug's character was introduced in KJ Bell's debut Irreparable series. However, TUG is not part of the series and can be read without reading the other two books beforehand.**

Aidan Hunter lost the only girl he ever loved to his older brother. To numb his pain, he drinks in excess, parties too hard, and sleeps with countless women. When his family expresses concern, he does what he's been taught to do—fake it and pretend his life is perfect. Pretend he loves his new girl and pretend his heart isn’t broken.

Maria Santiago is simply trying to survive each day until she finishes college. As a single mother, life is a constant struggle. Add running from a dangerous past and working in the oldest profession, and all she has is hope for a better life. Hope one day she will no longer feel shame and hope her past never catches up with her.

After Aidan pays to spend one wild night with Maria, pretending to be unaffected by her is impossible. Their night comes to an explosive end and Maria hopes she never sees him again, but Aidan refuses to give up. As Maria begins to accept that Aidan’s feelings for her are genuine, someone from her past threatens her life. Aidan’s not intimidated and takes a huge risk to protect her.

Will the risk pay off and allow Aidan the opportunity to provide Maria with the better life she’s been hoping for? Goodreads:

4.5 Star Review by Jennifer Hagen

Tug is the little brother of the man who ended up being engaged to the woman that he loved from afar for years – his best friend Tori.  Tug was featured in both books in the Irreparable series and now he has a book of his own.  If you have not read the previous 2 books, you will be able to read Tug without knowing all the back story, but I loved both Irreparable books and the second one was on my favorite list of 2014, so I really think you want (and need!) to read them.  And it will help you to understand how Tug has changed; Tori choosing Brady over Tug broke him.  He was once a happy and carefree young man full of jokes and now he is using sex and booze to avoid feeling anything.

When I’m with a woman, it’s not about feeling.  It’s about not feeling.  It’s the only time I forget about Tori.  It numbs the pain.

Poor Tug.  He is so heartbroken over Tori that he will do anything to sabotage Tori and Brady.  Lucky for him they both fully understand how much he is hurting and instead of beating him while he’s down, they support him and still want him standing beside them as they pledge their love for eternity.  It doesn’t matter to Tug that in his scheme he took an unknowing participant with him.

I wanted to get back at her, make her feel my pain, make her suffer a little for not choosing me.

Maria is trying to keep her head above water taking care of her ailing grandfather and her son.  She ran far, far away from the father of her child and is hoping that because he can’t cross the border between Mexico and US that she will be safe from him.   Maria and Tug get off on the wrong foot the first time they meet, and subsequently after that he places her in a judgmental position. That is Tug…he doesn’t care how it effects anybody else just as long as he gets what he wants…be damned the consequences!
And speaking of what he wants…he decides that Maria is what he wants.

Tug has an image to uphold for the sake of the company that he and his brother own.  The board of directors is becoming upset with the constant barrage of women that Tug has been seen with.  Maria’s profession certainly doesn’t fit the bill of what they will see as a positive image.  It’s easier to hide her and their relationship than to deal with the downfall.  How long can one stay hidden from the spotlight?  Not as long as they would like when there’s a person seeking revenge being cast aside as Tug’s love interest.  All is fair in love and war, right?

Maria has many secrets of her own that she keeps from Tug.  Tug knows that she is hiding something from him, but he is being a gentleman and not pushing her to reveal anything.   Tug is patient, kind, generous and loving when it comes to Maria.  Yes, he actually loves somebody besides Tori.  In fact he realizes that all the pain that he felt with Tori’s decision lead him to Maria -- he wouldn’t change a thing.  Tug’s ability to love so fiercely and care so deeply for everyone around him puts a strain on his and Maria’s relationship.  Can he really say goodbye to his past and let go of his ongoing love for Tori?  And when things drastically take a change in their lives, Tug knows for certain that the love he thought he felt for Tori wasn’t even close to what he feels for Maria.

“My heart was waiting for you.  It’s yours with all I have to give.”

Holy mother of cliffhangers.  This isn’t one that leaves you breathless with your heart not beating,  but rather leaves you hanging your mouth open and flipping back through the pages to see what you could have possibly missed.   I simply adored KJ Bell’s writing in the Irreparable series and this has definitely carried over into Tug’s story.  Passion, hatred, angst, and desire all wrapped up into one handsome man will have you wanting to love this broken man and make certain that he ends up with his happy endin.  If you think Tug is sexy on the cover of the book, just wait until Tug unleashes his sexual powers…oh my goodness is that man HOT!

Tug’s story captivated me, the writing was excellent, and the hotness factor was exceptional.  There is nothing bad I can say about this book.  I can’t even complain about the cliffhanger ending because that just means that we get MORE Tug!  I’m crossing my fingers that this beautiful man who has experienced so much heartbreak, will finally get his heart pieced back together again.
