Review: A Beautiful Lie by Tara Sivec

A Beautiful Lie

4 star review by guest reviewer Allison East
This is a story of friendship, deceit, love and lies.
Garrett McCarthy saw Annabelle Parker first, but it was his best friend, Milo, who made the first move.  All the while, "Parker," knew in her heart she always wanted Garrett. Fast forward 8 years, when one of the friends loses their life, the two friends left behind have to figure out how to live without. It's time to figure out the truth behind how the friend died and why- the situation is fishy and doesn't add up. Can these friends move on when everything they know is built upon a lie?
I wondered how Ms.sivec, who has such a great wit for comedy would fare in writing a suspenseful romance. Not only did she capture me from page one, as soon as I started reading I had to finish immediately. I had to know what was going on, and a lot of the time I was thrown for a loop. The story does start off a little bit slow, but the storm of lies that follows makes it go by so fast. I loved Garrett and Parker immediately, from the first page. Milo was a little tougher to love. And if I tell you any more about the characters, I would have to post a spoiler alert! Parker has been to date one of my favorite book heroines. She is bad ass and totally confident. Love that in a leading lady. Garrett is definitely a book boyfriend and swoon worthy!
Overall I give this book 4 stars, definitely started off my 2013 on the top!
