Our 4 star review:

"We just stared at each other and the tension was building between us as it always did, she licked her bottom lip and I couldn't help but notice the stirring in my pants."

Devi Porter & Seth fell in love as teenagers.  Neither of them had the best of backgrounds. It is because of this that both are independent and determined to make it on their own. They both have dreams; Devi's in art and Seth's in with music. They long to be together and someday having a family of their own.  Unfortunately their dreams take them on different paths and Devi makes the choice to let Seth go.

Fast forward three years later, Devi is now a single mother, and her parents have cut off any support. She is making a name for herself as a tattoo artist in Dallas, and she is doing a fantastic job. With the help of her brother Drake and her friends, Devi is on her way to success.

"I never forgot about you Devi, I never stopped thinking about you, wondering how you were, wondering  if you thought about me.”

Seth has made his dreams come true, he is the bassist for the popular group, My Misery Muse, but he and his band mates are struggling with the lifestyles that they are currently living and are having problems writing new material. The band decides to head back to Dallas to work on their new album  hoping to get back to their roots and away for  the media's attention. Devi and Seth's path's cross and they realize that they are still in love with each other.  Both  are desperate to have the family neither of them had but always wanted. Secrets and good intentions are questioned.

"I want it all, I want you and Jaks to be my family, I want my goddamn career, but I can't it  all, and I don't know what to do about that."

Seth & Devi are getting to know each other again and things seem to be falling into place. Life isn't that simple and they are faced with obstacles that neither of them are prepared to face.

"Please don't make promises to him you can't keep Seth, I believe you want to do the right thing, but you and I both know that your life doesn't always lead to keeping your promises."

The characters were wonderful, I liked Seth, partly because he has to be one of the the tamest rock stars I have read about -and it was refreshing. Devi is an awesome character. Smart, beautiful and headstrong, although these same traits were the cause of her heartache.  My Misery Muse is a wonderful story about having to walk away from your soul mate in order to make your own dreams come true. It is about experiencing  life's successes and failures. Being  able to work through hard times and realizing that true love and family is the most important thing that life has to offer. Most of all it is about second chances and destiny. Sometimes we are given a do over, a chance to capture the things that matter most, even if we let them go the first time around. A job well done by Brei Beztold!
