Review: This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas

Wow!! What a book. Any book that causes that much emotion and frustration is a great book.  I am still trying to wrap my head around all that is Jesse.  This book has drama and angst, there may be moments when you will want to jump in the book and shake some sense into the characters.  But it is all worth it.  

First we meet Eva who appears to be a strong young woman who has a great career as a interior designer and she is very good at her job. But she meets her newest client, Jesse ward and completely loses all of herself. She is completely taken by this man at her first meeting with him. He is beautiful, arrogant, rich and extremely controlling, which she soon finds out. But she can't seem to keep away from him.

There were times when Jesse was sweet and I loved him, then he would do something stupid and I hated him. And then he became way too controlling and sometimes stalkerish which made me afraid of him. He knew no boundaries when it came to Eva. I honestly have a love/hate relationship with Jesse. But in the end I will say that I absolutely loved Jesse and want to see the good in him because it's there.

In Eva's head she knows what she wants, knows her feeling for Jesse are wrong and will end up getting hurt. She has moments where she runs out on him and has every intention of telling him why. She is strong when she is not with Jesse, and  when she plans out in her head what she will say to him.  Then she sees him  and here is the frustrating part, she caves to him every time. She becomes weak to him.   But he is her addiction and she couldn't get enough.

Jesse has a big secret that as the reader you will probably figure it out but Eva doesn't get it right away. And she lets herself fall for him knowing how wrong it is. But I can say that he is falling for her in a way that completely terrifies him. Everything he does, especially his controlling ways,  he does because of his feelings for Eva and out of fear of losing her. He has never had a relationship or felt this way about any woman before and it terrifies him.

Overall I really enjoyed the book and can't wait for the next one. I loved Jesse Ward, despite his issues, and cannot get enough of him.   This book was a huge roller coaster of emotions, but it is one of those books that you just cannot put down.  I needed to know where the ride would take me next.  I cannot wait to continue this crazy ride with Eva and Jesse, and to find out just who Jesse Ward is.  A job well  done by  Jodi Ellen Malpas.
