Review: Sea Glass Island by Sherryl Woods

Synopsis

Under summer skies, New York Times bestselling author Sherryl Woods evokes family, friendship and heartfelt emotionWith her two younger sisters heading for the altar, will Samantha Castle exchange old dreams for new ones? Lately she'd rather be on the North Carolina coast with family than in New York with agents and actors. Though she vows not to let her teenage crush on Ethan Cole influence her decision, it's hard to ignore her feelings for the local war hero.

Ethan lost more than his leg in Afghanistan. He lost his belief in love. Even being surrounded by couples intent on capturing happily-ever-after won't open this jaded doctor's heart. It's going to take a sexy, determined woman—one who won't take no for an answer.

4 star review

Sherryl Woods concludes the Ocean Breeze Trilogy with Sea Glass. Of the three Castle sisters, Samantha is the struggling actress living in New York. Emily, is planning her wedding to Boone, Gabi is a single mother involved with Wade Johnson. Sam is coming home to Castle Bay North Carolina for Emily’s wedding. Things are about to get interesting as she has always harbored a crush on Ethan Cole.  Ethan was the star quarterback and three years older than Sam in high school. He also happens to be Boone’s best friend and will be the best man at Emily and Boone’s wedding.

Emily decides to play matchmaker. Ethan honestly doesn’t remember meeting Sam before. Once they meet, he admits it was a little easier to resist the matchmaking attempts. Ethan served in Afghanistan and lost one of his lower limbs to an IED explosion. When he came back to resume his life as a doctor, he found his fiancĂ©e Lisa couldn’t spend her life “who’s not whole”. He’s made sure his heart has remained safely guarded ever since.

In spite of all the meddling relatives and friends surrounding them, these two manage to connect and form a friendship, attempting to convince themselves that neither wants to take their relationship to the next level. But eventually guards are lowered and hearts are opened. Is Ethan ready for a relationship; is he at peace with his physical challenge? Suddenly connections are severed and hearts are once again bruised.
Rumors spread about Sam (yes, there are some vindictive people even in this idyllic seaside resort town) and protective feelings are stirred. Can these two overcome their insecurities and find happiness? Woods has again written an engaging story, this time about the last of the Castle sisters. Of course, there is a nice blending of the characters from the first two books.  They have become old familiar friends. The Ocean Breeze Trilogy draws to a close with this last installment. A fine ending for a wonderful series.
