 Title: Conflict of Interest
Series: Employee Relations #1
By: Teresa Michaels
Publication Date: July 8, 2016
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Cover Design: Mayhem Cover Creations

Ambitious and insightful, Gabby DiVergilio only has one thing standing in the way of her climbing the corporate ladder: her new business partner, Lucas McCarthy. He's arrogant and dismissive, driving her mad with his sexy Irish accent in every possible way.

Recently promoted to the executive ranks, Lucas must prove that he’s the right man for the job. He never expected that the HR professional he’d be forced to work with on a daily basis would be gorgeous, challenging and smart as hell. He’s not the type to accept help from anyone, especially not a bubbly, policy-enforcer that he’d rather bend over his desk. Never one to lose focus, Lucas avoids Gabby at all costs until circumventing her becomes career suicide.

Fraternizing in the workplace is strictly prohibited and neither one of them are willing to break the rules. But with their undeniable chemistry about to ignite, Lucas and Gabby must decide which consequence is worse – combusting from sexual frustration or violating company policy.

Review by Jen Skewes

This is my first book by Teresa Michaels and it will not be my last.  From the moment I started I completely devoured this book.  It was fun, sweet and sexy.

Gabby and Lucas are co workers, Lucas having just started working there.  Gabby works in HR,  which is something that Lucas has issues with.  He is not a fan of HR at all and sees no reason why he needs to work closely with Gabby and take advice from her on certain situations.  But that is not his only problem.  When he meets Gabby he is instantly attracted to her.  But relationships at work are completely off limits.  He could lose his job if anything between him and Gabby happens.  So his solution is to just stay away from her, to avoid her as much as possible.  Which is not easy considering they should be working together.   They agree to be friends but what happens when they both know that they want something more?  Is it worth risking their job for love?

I really enjoyed this book and the characters.  I had a hard time putting this one down because I needed to now what would happen.  Gabby was a great heroine.  She was tough and smart and I think she handled Lucas’ issues just perfectly.  She didn’t take his crap when he was trying to avoid her and refused to work with her.  But as time went on she made him see just how valuable she is to the company.

Lucas was a great guy but at times he was a complete douche.  I understood his reasons for avoiding her but I think at times he was his own worst enemy.  The issues between him and Gabby were his own fault and his own issues.  He would be this fantastic caring person one minute and then go back to pushing her away the next.  But overall I really did love him.  He proved just how much he loved Gabby and how important she was to him.

This was a sweet, fun and sexy story that I loved.  You felt the chemistry between Gabby and Lucas but you also felt the sexual tension as well.  You knew how much they wanted each other and were just waiting for that moment for it to finally happen.  They knew how to push each others buttons and I loved that.  Definitely a recommended read!!
