From New York Times bestselling author, J. Daniels, comes a sexy new STANDALONE novel.

Riley Tennyson has made a huge mistake.

At least, that’s what she keeps telling herself.

Showing up to her brother’s wedding pissed off and newly single, Riley seeks comfort in solitude and an open bar, until the gorgeous and irresistibly charming CJ Tully makes her a better offer―a wild night with the master of smooth-talking where nothing is off limits.

Riley does what any single woman would do, and a connection is made. One neither one of them can ignore. But when she comes home to the boyfriend she no longer thought she had, Riley buries her secret and begs CJ to do the same.

Forget about each other. It was a mistake. That’s all it was… right?

Desires are hidden. Distance is kept. Until one night CJ makes the ultimate sacrifice, and Riley can no longer avoid the man she can’t stop thinking about.

Not with him sleeping down the hall…

Review by Lisa Kane

Riley Tennyson is getting ready to meet up with her brother Reed and his fiancĂ©e Beth for their rehearsal dinner. Her boyfriend, Richard is not invited. He used to work for Reed, but he was let go because he was constantly late. There’s no love lost between these two and Richard is fuming over Riley going by herself. He’s drunk and loud and his attitude is bordering on abusive.

Angry words are exchanged and they end up breaking up. By the time Riley gets to the dinner she’s as fed up as she can be. The answer to all this anger-hello tequila! Once her eyes drift to Cj Tully, she can’t help but think how hot he is-turns out he works with Luke and Ben on the Ruxton Police Department. He can cuff her any day of the week!

Cj isn’t exactly immune to her charms either and the two share a wild night between the sheets. But Riley knows her brother would not want to know that they hooked up. So the next day things are on the down low between CJ and Riley, not that CJ would want it that way.

When Riley goes back home it turns out Richard has sobered up and thinks that their fight was just taking a break, no way are they breaking up. Uh oh…

“How long have we been doing this?”
“A long time,” I reply hoarsely.
“Year and a half,” he clarifies, making my heart feel heavy. “We’ve got roots in this. You’re the most important thing in my life. No way is a fight like this gonna tear us apart, baby.”

So I guess this break they were on is over and they are back together. Riley thinks maybe his drinking was just an escape from being frustrated with his lack of job offers.

Because I’m not moving out.
Because we’re still together.
Because we were never broken up.

Where does that leave CJ and Riley? CJ is less than thrilled about all of this. Being friend zoned is not what he wants, but if that’s what he can get right now, then he’ll take it.

She wants to be friends with me? Ok. Part of this new arrangement should be me pointing out all the ways I'd be better for her.

Things between Richard and Riley create a domino effect that spills over to CJ. Everything changes but Riley still thinks keeping secrets is the way to go. Um, maybe rethink that line of logic…

“Cause you’re not there with me yet. And that sucks for me, babe. ‘cause I’m there. I’ve been there.”

There’s lots of drama, snippets with Ben and Mia and Tessa and Luke (I can never get enough of them!) and of course the bride and groom-Beth and Reed. This is one dirty talking, fun loving group that are as loyal to each other as people can be. There’s so many stories to be told-I hope J Daniels just runs and runs with this series!

The Us we were always meant to be.
