Wingman rule number one: don’t fall for a client.

After a career-ending accident, former NFL recruit Ian Hunter is back on campus—and he’s ready to get his new game on. As one of the masterminds behind Wingmen, Inc., a successful and secretive word-of-mouth dating service, he’s putting his extensive skills with women to work for the lovelorn. But when Blake Olson requests the services of Wingmen, Inc., Ian may have landed his most hopeless client yet.

From her frumpy athletic gear to her unfortunate choice of footwear, Blake is going to need a miracle if she wants to land her crush. At least with a professional matchmaker by her side she has a fighting chance. Ian knows that his advice and a makeover can turn Blake into another successful match. But as Blake begins the transformation from hot mess to smokin’ hot, Ian realizes he’s in danger of breaking his cardinal rule…

Review by Jen Hagen

Ian and his best friend, Lex, have a lucrative college business going on.  They are the owners of Wingmen, Inc – a business that women hire to ensure they can get the guy that doesn’t see them.  Ian used to be a professional football player until an injury sidelined him.   Now he spends his time managing his busy pseudo-dating life, going to college, and keeping himself entertained with lots and lots of women.  He goes through a lot of research to make their company profitable.

Blake is a fashion mistake…tomboy…wearer of ill-fitting baggy clothes…and still wearing clothes from the 1990s.  She is very timid but fierce enough to change schools to chase the boy she grew up with.  The only problem is she doesn’t know the first thing about boys, let alone kissing.  She hires Wingmen, Inc. to school her in how to catch the guy.  Wingmen don’t only give advice, but they also give hands-on training to guarantee results.

The tables turn on Ian.  He is now sitting on the other side of the statistical probability.  He feels compatible to Blake but this goes against company policy.  Absolutely no dating the clients!

I’d gone from being the coach to the damn client…wanting so desperately for the girl to notice me that I’d go to any lengths to get her attention.

Ian is a really funny, handsome, happy-go-lucky (and get lucky!) guy.  He could really be down on the world for the hand that has been dealt him, but he finds it easier to move on (and move on to the next woman).  His personality is beyond hilarious and the best part is this entire novel is told from his point of view!!  An entire book told from a male POV is like holding a 100 Grand candy bar in my hand.  Don’t take it away!!  And there’s one other thing that I really like about Ian…He goes commando…A LOT!!

And then she shoved me back so hard that my coffee spilled and ran down my chest, probably leaving a burn trail all the way to my dick.
Wrong day to freeball it.  That was for sure.

Blake hired Ian to coach her on how to get David to notice her, but even she seems to be falling for Ian.  Ian is a business major so of course he’s all about analysis and numbers.  The numbers don’t give a telling conclusion as to whether they are compatible in a relationship.  Will he take a chance?

Blake and Ian were very cute together.  I loved Ian’s bluntness in all areas – his whoring ways, his ability to cash in on his women expertise, and mostly the humor between all the friends.  The angst is minimal, but the beauty of this book lies with the humor.   Ms. Van Dyken’s romantic comedies always hit the spot after I have fallen into a dark hole.  There are truly laugh out loud moments in this book.

Blake rolled her eyes. “You’re kind of a pig.”
“Right, but I’m more like one of those cute little pigs, you know, the teacup ones.  Still a pig, but you can’t help but want to keep it forever because it’s so damn adorable.”

Yes, Ian, you are truly adorable, but don’t let your fears and tunnel vision keep you away from the girl that is meant for you.
