Release Blitz: Unexpected rivals by Stephie Walls

Cover Design: Wicked by Design
Release Date: November 20, 2017

Synopsis

It had to be a joke.

Any minute now, a van would drive up and Ashton Kutcher would slide the door open, laughing hysterically at my melodramatic performance on the front porch.

But nothing happened.

The words on the page jumbled into a toxic mess my brain refused to comprehend, much less accept.

Please consider this letter as a formal request to arrange a paternity test (DNA).

I barely remembered Chelsea Airy.

That wasn’t true—we’d gone out once, and we’d been friends for a while after. But I hadn’t heard so much as a peep from her since I’d gotten married. I’d reached out a handful of times, but she’d quit responding and fell off the face of the earth. There hadn’t been a text, an email, a phone call, not even a Facebook message, much less a stork in the last five years.

My wife could forgive a lot, but she’d never wanted children—much less another woman’s.

Release Blitz: Save My Heart by DC Renee

Life and death.  Exact opposites.  One brings great joy.  One brings great sorrow.  But without one, there is no other.

I gave my daughter life when I was just eighteen.  And now, at sixteen, she faces death.

From the minute I heard her little heart beating, she was my everything.  It didn’t matter that her father had left me, his empty promises a whisper in the wind.  It didn’t matter that I had needed to figure out how to get an education while being a young, single mother.  It didn’t matter that I had acted as both mother and father while trying to give her everything I could.  It didn’t even matter that she was born with a big heart that had us in and out of the hospital for all her life.  None of that mattered because just one look at her, one smile from her, and one, “I love you, Mom,” was enough to make any day better.  No love greater existed than that of a mother.

But now I was about to lose her.  My everything.

It would be up to Kieran to hold me up if my world came crashing down.  Dr. Kieran Bell.  He came into my life—our lives—and knocked down every wall I had ever put up.  He wasn’t just my daughter’s doctor; he was my friend.  He was more than my friend.  And now, I knew I’d need him more than ever.  I just hoped against hope that this time, life wouldn’t result in death.

Review by Jen Skewes

When I read the blurb to a book and I just know that it is going to be an emotional ride, one that will make me cry, I cannot help but want to read it.  I am a sucker every time.  There re books that you know from the start that you are going to feel it all with the characters and that at the end you will be an emotional mess.  Save My Heart was that book but for so many other reasons that were completely unexpected.

Dahlia is a single mom to her beautiful and sweet daughter Ro.  She had her when she was eighteen and it has been just the two of them ever since.  Dahlia’s high school sweetheart left her the minute things when he realized that he just was not ready to be a father.  He has not been in the picture since.  Dahlia has had her parents by her side and they have loved and supported her and her daughter.  But it has been Dahlia who has given her daughter the best life tat she could.  Ro was born with a heart problem, one that has taken away the normal childhood moments that most kids get to experience.    But her mother has still given her a great life.

Ro is 16 and she is facing death, something that they both know would happen one day but her heart is getting weaker.  Their doctor, who has been family to them is retiring and when he recommends his replacement to be Ro’s doctor they know that they will be in good hands.  When they meet Dr. Kieran Bell, the new doctor, Dahlia feels things she hasn’t felt in over 16 years, maybe never for that matter.  She never expected him to be so hot and sexy, and to add to that he is kind and sweet and cares about her and Ro.  It has been sixteen years since she has been with anyone, but Keiran has awoken something inside of her.  He feels the connection between them, and wants to be more than just friends as he originally suggested.  He knows that being Ro’s daughter and wanting more with Dahlia is crossing a line, but what these two women bring to his life he is willing to leap across that line.  Dahlia feels it too but her whole life has been about her daughter, and she is not sure she is ready to move into a relationship so fast.  It is time for her to live her life and Keiran is the perfect man to do that with, but will her fears stand in her way?

I loved this book for so many reasons, the storyline, the characters, the emotions it brought out in me, the fantastic writing.  If there was ever a person to be there for Dahlia, to help her live her life for not just her daughter but herself, to help her to feel again, it was Kieran.  He was such a gentle, patent and caring man with a side of sexy.  He knew that Ro always came first but he loved that sweet girl just as much as her mother did.  He will do everything in his power to make sure Ro will be ok.

My heart broke many times over the course of reading this book.  As a mother I can never imagine going through what these two have been through.  For sixteen years there life has been in and out of doctors offices, wondering when the moment will come when her heart gets weaker and there will be nothing that can be done.  Dahlia was strong and loved her daughter fiercely.  But it was Ro’s strength that just got me.  She may only be sixteen but maturity wise, she is well beyond her years.  She had such an amazing attitude and when it came to her mother and Keiran, all she wanted was for her mother to be happy and have someone to love her and be there for her.  Their mother/daughter relationship is one that will make your heart happy but at the same time break.

This book swill tug at your heart-strings.  It will break your heart.  The end will take your breath away.  Yes, this book is an emotional roller coaster ride, but I loved that it as also filled with sexy times, and moments that will make you laugh.  As if the author knew you needed those moments to make your heart full.  Have tissues ready because you will need them.  A beautiful story!!

DC Renee has been writing all her life, from cheesy poems in elementary school
(i'll share an example just so you know how cheesy: Flowers are my favorite
thing; they usually bloom during spring. Pink, blue, yellow and green, so many
colors that I have seen...etc.) to short stories and monologues, and eventually
fan fictions for Days of Our Lives.

It was thanks to that superbly encouraging fan fiction community that DC found
the courage to publish her first book - Let Me Go. It held fast in the top 100

going as low as the top 20's. Naturally, she loves to read, but she also likes

Release Blitz: One Shot by BJ Harvey

Title: One Shot
Series: Chances #1
Author: BJ Harvey
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: November 16, 2017

Boy meets girl, boy wins girl, boy nails girl—boy’s gone by morning.

I think for sure it must've been a dream because there’s no way a guy could look like that, touch me like that and be so in tune with me on every known level, and disappear, leaving me with nothing but a good story to tell my friends.

When he walks into my bar three months later, everything I thought I knew and what we’d had disappears in the blink of an eye and the blinding light of the three-carat diamond on his fiancée's hand.

It seems what I thought was a dream is now my most complicated reality, and I've got absolutely no idea how to fix it - or if I even want to.

Review by Lisa Kane

There is nothing that gets my engine revved up like an angsty read!

Kenzie Sharp tends bar at the Shining Light Bar and Brasseries in California and wards off the advances of the jerks she seems to meet while working. But one night she meets a guy whose advances she doesn’t want to ward off. They flirt, they engage in lots of eye fu*#king, and they barely restrain themselves from jumping each other’s bones, right in the middle of the bar.

“Any future pretend grandchildren of ours would know never to doubt the words coming from their pop’s mouth.”

But he’s gonna have to work for it. She tells him if he’s really interested in her, he’s going to have to come back again and she’ll see where things go.

“You’ve won this round, Beautiful, but I’m a persistent man. I will be back to try again,” he warns.

But Kenzie is cautious, how well does she know Millen Ross? Can you trust someone who is practically a complete stranger?

“Are you single?”
“Do you think I would’ve come back to see you tonight, stayed till closing talking to an old guy about his days working on the railway, and be driving you home to be if I was seeing someone?”

Oh and he does come back…It’s inevitable that these two were going to tear up the sheets.

“Best weekend ever.”
His grin widens. “And we’re just getting started.”

Radio silence. No word for three months. Who hasn’t been ghosted? It sucks and it hurts and it frustrates. But Kenzie has no choice but to move on. She has Drew, her friend with benefits. It’s nowhere near what she had with Millen and guess what, that’s just what she’s looking for…right up until her worst nightmare comes a calling.

If there’s one person Kenzie can’t stand it’s Lana Mason.

Lana fucking Mason, childhood best friend turned high school nemesis and arch enemy, and…

Lana can’t wait to introduce her to her fiancé..you guessed it…Millen Ross. Turns out he’s best friends with Drew. Can this get any worse?

Oh yeah, it’s going to get a lot worse. So just about now I am hating Millen. He said he was single. He seemed like he was really sincere. Lots of name calling is going on right now, it might be in my head, but believe me it’s going on. Why should I give this guy a chance?

One Shot is an all you can eat angst buffet for me! Just when I think maybe there is a reason for Millen’s betrayal I get shot through the heart again. I could wring Kenzie’s neck-this girl makes some pathetic choices and sabotages her own life repeatedly. And don’t get me started on Millen. One seat belt isn’t enough for this bumpy ride. You better get one of those harness things they use for roller coasters ‘cause you’re gonna need it. Hang on, keep reading and ride this baby out!

“It’s a beautiful pain that’s always worth it if you’re both willing to work to make things right.”

Present Day

I have tingles, and not the kind that feel great in all the right places. The ones I’m feeling right now are the hair-standing-up-on-the-back-of-your-neck, someone-walking-over-your-grave kind of feelings that you get when something bad is about to happen.

Unable to ignore them any longer, I turn around from my stock take sheet and come face to face with my worst nightmare.

Lana fucking Mason, childhood best friend turned high school nemesis and arch enemy, and…

A man stands beside her, his eyes as wide as mine and—if I’m not mistaken—he looks kind of pissed off. At me.

And just like that, this moment has just gone from bad to worse.

Hold on! I’m the one who should be annoyed, with him. It wasn’t me who did a disappearing act three months ago, and now he’s here, standing with her. Of all the fish in the sea, he had to go for the smelliest, rottenest one.

“Kenzie,” she says, all saccharine sweet, like she wouldn’t choke on the first dick that came close to her perfectly-made-up lips. “Long time no see.”

Forever wouldn’t have been long enough, Lana.

“We were in town running errands and thought we’d stop by. I wanted to let you know what I’ve been up to.” Without preamble, she holds out her hand as if she’s the Queen of Sheba and I’m a lowly minion at her bidding. But that’s the last thing I care about, given that I’m being blinded by a huge, shiny rock on her ring finger.

What in the ever-loving fuck?

I don’t get a chance to hide my surprise, or the fact that my eyes dart to Millen, his jaw twitching like crazy, his grey eyes that I remember turning molten with lust now blazing with some unreadable emotion.

Why is he angry at me when he must’ve known that I’d be here?

Lana turns her head and beams at him all doe-eyed and vomit-inducing, reaching out her arm to Millen before returning her attention to me, positioning herself to deliver the final death blow.

Then she says them. The words I don’t want to hear—let alone believe.

“I have amazing news. First, my daddy just bought this place. And second, meet Millen, my fiancé…”

Yep. Dead. Done. The see-ya-later, don’t-let-the-door-hit-your-ass-on-the-way-out kind of done.

Then Drew walks through the front door. Drew who warms my bed most nights. Finally, a friendly face.

However, one look at Lana’s expression and I know this moment has just gone from bad to plain awkward. It’s like the universe is making a joke at my expense.

Drew’s already big smile grows impossibly larger when he spots the two people standing in front of me.

“Mills!” he says, pulling Millen into a man-hug the likes of which I’ve never seen Drew hand out before. He turns to the she-bitch and wraps his arms around her too. “Lans.”

Lans?

“What are you guys doing here?” Drew asks.

“You know them?” I blurt out, my brain unable to engage quick enough to care about putting a filter in place.

Millen’s eyes snap to Drew then back to me. “You know Drew?” he asks at the same time as Lana juts a hip to the side and asks Drew, “You know Kenzie?”

“Millen is my best friend from college,” Drew happily informs me, and his smile falls at the same time that all of the blood rushes from my face.

Awkward, meet Mortifying. Also here are Shame, Embarrassment, Anger, Disgust, and over in the corner there is Complete and Utter Confusion and her friend I’m Going to Have to Move to the States and Join a Women-Only Commune with Cats and Unlimited Batteries.

With nothing else to say—at least, nothing that wouldn’t take a bottle of Jack and a whole lot of time—I decide to just go with the flow and revert to my old trusty auto-pilot because seriously, what else is there for me to do?

“Soooo, would anyone like a drink?”
