Review and Giveaway: Ella Fox's Picture Perfect
Our 4 star review
“I realized that I had to change the way I was living. I couldn’t remember why, but I knew, down to my bones, that I needed to do better, to be better.”
Flynn Rand is the lead singer for the Renegades Saints. After years of hard work, his life is filled with concerts, partying, and women. He isn’t the only one, seems most of the band is veering off the track and it is starting to affect their shows, they are often “phoning in” their performances. That is, until a show in Philly, where a beautiful, but too young for Flynn, brunette with chocolate brown eyes looks up adoringly at him. Flynn, as wasted as he is that night, is ashamed and realizes his fans deserve more from him than what they have been getting lately. He spends the whole concert singing directly to her; naturally the concert is taped and shows up on YouTube. When he wakes up the next morning, he can’t remember exactly what happened, but the memory of a set of warm eyes inspires him to clean up his act.
“I could just barely remember eyes the color of melting chocolate, but that was all.”
Six years later, Tessa Hamilton, is an up and coming photographer who takes some pretty hot shots alongside a group, The Chaps, that the Renegades label is representing. Flynn and his band have decided they have enough money to retire and this next tour will be their last. They want it captured on film. Although Flynn is mesmerized by her face (and her body is worth a few hundred double takes) there is something vaguely familiar about her. He makes sure she is offered a chance to photograph the band’s last concert. From their first meeting these two have instant attraction. Of course Tessa knows she has seen Flynn up close and personal, but he can’t place where he has seen her. Their relationship takes off from this point. Both are fascinated with each other and Flynn at least, lets his guard down. He has been looking for a long time to share his life with the right person. He has little doubt Tessa is his “one”, his Priscilla, (as in the girl Elvis loved at first sight). She on the other hand, is insecure and feels once the tour actually starts, groupies and the pressures of the tour will tear them apart.
“The guillotine that hung over my head was my anxiety about the tour.”
Fox has written a novel that moves along where it should and brakes where it ought to-especially when it comes to the smoking hot sex scenes between Flynn and Tessa! Make sure you have your flame retardant panties on for this one! Oh the things Flynn says, *blushing just thinking about it*! He wants what he wants when he wants it! Seems they have both been fantasizing about the other and Flynn has taken on the role of her sexual tutor with zest. Tessa proves to be no slouch in the sexual games herself. The girl may have worried about her former boyfriend’s accusations that she was frigid, but she quickly learned it was her choice of partners that was the problem. Game on!
“If I’d had panties on, they would have burst into flames.”
Flynn has some unforeseen family complications thrown into the mix. Some characters from previous books by Ms. Fox make an appearance, though this can still be read as a standalone, without the necessity of the other novels. These complications create some angst and some touching moments. Flynn’s grandmother, a strong secondary character, will make you laugh out loud with her constant double entendre tweeting. Tessa’s best friend Jessica has no filter and is a refreshing font of wisdom. Tessa frustrated me at times; she seemed to create some of her own drama, her character in spite of her beauty, suffered from serious self-esteem issues. Will Flynn ever learn why Tessa seems familiar? Can a bad boy turn into husband and father material? If you are looking for an easy read, full of spice and steam then this one is for you. Picture Perfect is the perfect blend of sweet and sexy and all good things in a hot novel.
“I think it’s a sign that we were meant to be together, babe. We were built for each other.”
