“That feeling that I could touch the sky? That’s exactly how you make me feel.”

Carrie Thompson-Sherman found her soul mate when she met then married Ray Sherman. At just twenty-seven years old, Carrie is living her dreams. She has her PhD, a prestigious fellowship and an amazing and loving husband. In the blink of an eye her world comes crumbling down. A jealous co-worker puts everything she has worked for on the line and a devastating accident puts her sister and her husband lives on the line.

“I don’t have home without him”, Carrie said when doctor asked her to go home.
“I won’t give up on him. Do you hear me, Doctor? Don’t you give up on him!”

Ray Sherman found the love of his life in Carrie. Haunted by the war in Afghanistan, he also hides a secret. When he reports it to the proper authorities, the nightmare begins.  With a federal investigation  it becomes the media’s dream news. *insert circus* Due to the accident, Ray is unable to defend himself.

With Ray fighting for his life. Carrie has no choice but to be strong and battle for them both. Ray and Carrie are both faced with a choice that will change their lives forever.

“I rested my hand on hers. Actually, when I wasn’t paying attention, it was in hers. I don’t know if it helped. I don’t know if it made any difference at all, if she had even the vaguest sense that I was there, that I was thinking about her and hurting for her and praying for her. All I could do was try. All I could do was be here. All I could give her was my love, even if she never knew.”

OMG, can I just say how beautiful and devastating this story is. I was in tears the entire time. Some of the tears were happy and some very sad. This story was so touching and so powerful I am in awe.  I experienced pretty much every emotion love, strength, angst, fear, faith, happiness, sadness.

This is a story that just sticks with you days after reading it.

Charles Sheenan-Miles wrote an amazingly beautiful story of love, triumph, heartache and the human spirit. A must read!
