The only thing you can expect from one of Carmen Jenner's books it to expect the unexpected. They are like one of Ana's pies, they are sweet but always have a little something extra that knocks you off your feet. Greetings from Sugartown is no different.
Ana and Elijah are living together and making a life for themselves. Holly, Jackson and baby Pepper moved out but there are plenty of get togethers with them and Ana's dad and her brother Sammy. Elijah is working as a mechanic for Bob, Ana's dad and Ana's pie shop is still a success. Elijah wants to kick things up a notch and plans on asking her to marry him. But his attempt to be secretive after buying the ring just results in him drawing attention to his strange behavior. Ana thinks he's up to something.
There's something strange going on with Elijah, and I'm determined to find out what the hell it is, even if I have to screw a confession out of him.
It doesn't help that Nicole, the skank that Elijah screwed when he and Ana broke up (you remember, the one she actually SAW him screwing in the bathroom bar!) just moved back to town and is working at a pizza place across the street from the mechanic shop. Nicole finds every excuse to slink her way over to see him, and it's driving Ana crazy. When Nicole was out of town it was easier for her to get that image out of her head, but now that she is back, she can't stop seeing Elijah with Nicole in his arms, hearing his moans and his words as he came. Elijah apologizes over and over but she can't help the way she feels.
I forgave him; I got it. He was hurting. I was hurting. Together we only hurt one another, and we were on a break. We weren't in the place back then that we are now. We've both grown up a lot, we've grown together, but I still can't see past my hatred of her. Every time I see her I want to vagina punch her into infertility.
On top of that, one of Elijah's 'brothers' from his MC days, Kick, is looking for a place to stay. No way does Elijah want him here. This can only lead to the MC finding out where he is living and putting both he and Ana in danger. But Ana thinks they should let him stay for a little while, he seems harmless. Kick insists he's left the MC for good, but brings bad news that they tortured and killed Elijah's dad trying to get info out of him about some money they think he has hidden.
Kick gets along with everyone, but Elijah refuses to let his guard down. Meanwhile, he is still trying to find just the right moment to propose. Although he and Ana have been having problems, especially about Nicole and Elijah is starting to think maybe they aren't ready to take the next step. He enlists Jackson's help in setting up a romantic setting with his and Holly's massage table, complete with wrist and ankle cuffs. Of course his romantic plans have disastrous, hilarious results.
"It's not what you think," I hurry after her. "Baby girl. Just stop for a second." I reach for her arm but she shrugs me off and throws open the door, revealing Jack up on the sex table, and Kick cuffing him to it.
But things take a more sinister turn, when Scott, they guy who raped and beat up Ana, is released early from jail. And he seems to make sure that he gets up front and personal with Ana. No way is this going to sit well with Elijah and Ana is terrified.
This is when my stomach got the drops and I knew shitz was going to get real. Things moved so fast and I just kept clutching my Kindle with my eyes wide open. How the hell can Elijah ever get himself out of this mess? And then things really got real. Hold me someone, I'm scared..
I love this series, each book is unique, and yet these characters are so interconnected with one another that I feel as though I know them. There are laughing out loud moments and moments of real repulsion, but never are these books boring. The next one has a bit of a time jump as it focuses on Holly's daughter Pepper and Ana's brother Sammy.

I need a drink. I need an antihistamine, but I don’t have time to go rooting around in the cupboard for that shit because Ana’s going to be home any second, and I have orgasms to deliver and a question to pop. I pull the champagne from the ice bucket and pour myself a glass, downing it in one go. I scratch, but the itch just spreads. It’s everywhere. My entire body is breaking out in this fucked up rash and … Jesus Christ, it’s like an inferno in here.
I haul my arse over to the window, throwing it wide and gulping in deep, heavy breaths of cold winter air. That’s when I hear the van’s door slam. I jack-knife from the window and hurry back to the table. I can’t stop scratching. I swear my skin is crawling with fire ants.
“Honey, I’m home,” a voice sing songs from the hall.
Fuck. That’s not Ana.
Before I have time to cover my junk, Jack and Kick are standing in my lounge room. A heartbeat passes, one in which we all just stare at each other like fuckwads, and then the laughter starts. I close my eyes, and squeeze my hands into fists to keep from ball-punching the both of them.
Kick leans towards Jack and whispers, “I think we’ll call him Jeeves.”
“Dude, when I said you could borrow my table I’d kinda pictured you doing something bad arse and kinky with it. Now I just wanna take it back.” Jack walks forward, and brushes his hands lovingly over the leather. “Don’t worry, baby, Daddy’s gonna take you home and put you to good use.”
“Don’t fucking touch it. I went through three cans of disinfectant to get that thing clean. I don’t want your herpes contaminating it again.”
“Herpes? Fuck you, cunt-burger. I’m definitely taking my table back now.”
“Speaking of herpes, what the hell is going on with your skin?” Kick says, eyeing me from head to toe. “It looks like you fucked a leper and your limbs are gonna start falling off.”
