Blurb

Two weeks before her wedding, Remi Montague’s fiancĂ© drops her faster than a drunken sorority girl in stilettos. Armed with her best friend and a bottle of tequila, she hops a plane to London to drown her sorrows before fall semester begins at Whitman University.

She didn't plan on attending a masquerade party.

She sure didn’t plan on waking up next to the British bad boy who broke her heart three years ago—the devastatingly handsome and naked Dax Blay. Furthermore, she has no clue how they acquired matching tattoos.

Once back at Whitman together, they endeavor to pretend they never had their night of unbridled passion in London.

But that’s damn hard to do when you live in the same house…

One night. Two damaged hearts. The passion of a lifetime.

Review by Lisa Kane

Remi Montague has been dumped...two weeks before her wedding to Hartford Wilcox. He needed to take a "break". He also goes to Whitman University. Remi is a planner, every part of her life is planned out-perfect guy, perfect wedding, perfect kids. Only now there's no guy, no wedding, no kids.

We were over. Like pay phones and mom jeans.

Remi swore she wouldn't let this happen to her again. Three years ago, she thought her sexathon weekend with Dax Blay was the start of something wonderful. Right up until his girlfriend laid claim to him. Remi walked out of his place and Dax couldn't be bothered to follow her.

What was it about him that made me so weak? The answer was simple: Dax Blay was my Achilles heel, my one vulnerability.

Dumped but not completely down, she escapes town and flies the coop to England with her best friend, Lulu. Which is how she finds herself masked and in a bar named Masquerade. She's looking to drown her sorrows in the bottle of her Patron's and maybe in the arms of the hot guy sitting next to her. Only it turns out to be the guy who ripped her heart out years ago.

Dax has been spending the summer keeping an eye on his cousin Spider, making sure he doesn't spiral out of control again. Something about the chick next to him reminds him of Remi Montague. The one girl he could have seen himself having a relationship with-but that all crashed and burned around him. Now she hates him and he knows her life with her douchebag fiance, now husband by now just makes him feel worse. He was never good enough for her.

"I-I don't hate you. I could never in a million years hate you," I whispered.

Fate is screwing with them now, putting them in the same bar sitting side by side. A drunken jilted bride and a guy who has never quite lost his attraction for her. Let the games begin!

She was everything I never knew I wanted in a girl-except I couldn't have her. I didn't do relationships.

But eventually reality is going to slam its way into their blissful week together. Remorseful ex's pop up, secrets are unearthed and hearts that haven't quite healed are going to crack open again.

The thing is, Dax is a temporary guy and I'm a forever girl, and the two didn't go together. Ever.

Remi frustrated the hell out of me-she makes the worst choices. I just wanted her to stop with living her life according to her planned orderly existence. She was her own worst enemy. And of course Dax is going to lash out with his own poor choices and try to cover up his pain any way he can. Ugghh....

"I'm sorry I was a dickhead to you. I'm sorry I suck at relationships. I'm sorry I can't be what you want. I'm sorry I stomped on your heart. I'm sorry you cried. I'm so fucking sorry. Just forgive me, okay?"

Pretty much anything that Ms. Mills writes is an angst fest. Broken hearts, hurt feelings, lost opportunities. The stuff that makes up the most delicious stories with the layers and layers of jam packed story lines. Keep writing 'cause I will keep reading!

"I want to own you, body and soul."

Excerpt

Without much thought except for comfort, instinctively I pressed myself against him, fitting into his arms as easy as breathing. He leaned against the brick wall of the neighboring building and wrapped me up, sensing my need to be grounded.
I don’t know how long we stood like that—maybe a minute, maybe five—but soon our breaths were in sync; the rise and fall of his chest in perfect accord with mine.
One of his hands traced down my spine and then up. He outlined my shoulder blades with his fingertips. His hands drifted to my hips then caressed back up to my hair, massaging my scalp.
But what had started as an innocent hug changed.
Fire licked my skin everywhere he touched. Of their own accord, my hands slid down to his waist and teased the line where his jeans rested on his hips. I went further, my fingers toying with the V at his hip until I felt him harden against me.
Lips brushed the top of my hair. “Remi . . . look at me,” he said, his voice raspy.
If you look up, you’re going to kiss him . . .
I tilted my head up and his mouth fused with mine in an instant.
Insistent. Wild. Hot. Yes! This is what I needed.
I groaned, and my hands rushed to his shoulders and dug in.
He was wrong—terribly wrong—for me, but it felt so right.
I felt wonderfully alive, revved up, as if I could crush a car with my bare hands, or push Dax against the wall and fuck him senseless. I recognized the feeling for what it was—an I almost-died-and-now-I-want-to-experience-life feeling.
“Wait,” he breathed as I ran my hand under his shirt. “It’s adrenaline. You’ve been through a trauma. You don’t really want this—”
“Shhh.” I lifted his shirt and kissed his chest, my tongue flicking over his nipple. “You taste like every good thing I’ve ever wanted.”
His taut restraint snapped, and he swayed into me. “God, I can’t tell you no.”
