Our 4 Star Review:

Hope and Slade just can’t seem to catch a break. It seems like the minute they conquer one obstacle another one appears.  To get away from it all they decided to go away together. Well that is what Hope was thinking until charges are brought up on Slade.  He does what he thinks is best for her and leaves.

I hate regrets. And I hate goodbyes. And I know you’re going to hate me, but the best thing for you to do is to forget you ever met me. I need to fix this.

Left heartbroken again, Hope has no one to turn to. That is until Hutch and his friend K come back into her life.  Then her dad makes a huge mistake and Hope had no choice but to work for the very man that left her for dead.

“Whatever has happened, I will help you. It doesn’t matter what it is. Do you believe me when I say that?” He smoothed my hair. “Whatever happens, we can do it together.”

Hope is struggling once again with herself. She has a fierce but bizarre attraction to Hutch. Now that the town is dead set on building a new church and getting rid of all witches. Things become even more complicated. In an effort to cheer Hope up, Hutch takes her and Karsen to a party, immediately Karsen  has taken a big dislike to K. Hope realizes that there are more than just witches that exist in the little town of Cherry.

“Have you ever felt happy and miserable at the same time?”

When Slade returns it puts a damper on Hutch and his plans for Hope.  Hope is pissed off at Slade, he did leave her and did tell her to forget him. She is trying to move on but their connection to each other makes it nearly impossible.

“It’s taken care of, and so here I am.” I couldn’t believe it. “You’re back for good?”

“For good,” he insisted. “He doesn’t seem as appealing anymore does he?”

Now that Slade is back, things for Hope go from bad to worse. Slade does everything in his power to win Hope back.

“No, what I’m saying is even at my best nobody else ever made me feel the way you do when I’m at my worst.” He touched my face, his fingers skimmed my lips.

“Slade,” I said lost for words.

“Before you came to Cherry my life was singing, pretending to enjoy partying and sleeping. That night you came into the park was the first time I saw something real.” He kissed my forehead and let me wrap my arms around him.

Confused by Slade and Hutch, Hope learns that Slade has dealt with K in the past and that Hutch is behind some of the recent chaos in the town of Cherry and has used her Father as leverage. Feeling betrayed and fooled Hope goes to Slade to talk things out.  Hope decides she needs to kill the mayor in order for her and her father to be free of the drama. Slade tries to convince her that killing the Mayor isn’t the answer.

Hutch’s true colors finally come to the surface, the mayor suddenly drops dead and if Hope doesn’t do what Hutch and K want. Her father is next. Hope has no choice but to go along with Hutch and K’s plan. When Hope is faced with a choice to save either her father or Slade, it is one that will change things forever.

Hope and Slade struggle to find a happy balance in their roller coaster of a relationship. When they are on, they are perfect for each other and when they are off, it leaves Hope in such turmoil. Hutch sees this and takes advantage of Hopes situation. He ends up being not at all the guy he claims to be. K is sneaky and has his own agenda in which I can’t wait to see how that will all pan out.
Poor Hope, her father has really put her in a horrible position and he is so dead set of getting Slade out of Hope’s life.
I was happy to see the more romantic side of Slade. He was finally able to open up a little and show his caring side.

Holly did a fantastic job of creating this crazy world in which supernatural beings and witches exist. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for the next boo k in this series.  I keep my fingers cross that Hope and Slade can remain by each others side to overcome whatever maybe be heading their way.

A fun, sexy, angsty and magical read.

Our 4 Star Review

If you only knew. When Karsen left, and my life took a turn for the fatal I never told her what happened that night. Nobody besides Slade, and his family knew what actually happened. And I wanted to keep it that way. I didn’t want Karsen scared of me or anything, for that matter. So the secret of who I was would stay just that- a secret.

Back in Cherry for the summer, Hope is now on break from ASU. She hasn’t seen Slade at all since she left Cherry and she misses him like crazy. Hope can’t wait to see him again but when she goes to find him, she learns that he is in jail and all charges against Tucker have been dropped.
After a blissful but short reunion with Slade, Audrey forces her way into Hope’s life.  Hope, now a witch and a member of a dark circle quickly learns that this group is hell bent on destruction, destruction she wants no part of. She is torn with evil lurking all around her she struggles with wanting to be with Slade but trying to remain Hope. It all becomes too much for her to handle.

She gets your rules, Audrey. So get out of here and leave her alone,”

Learning rules and trying to control he powers Hope feels hopeless. She isn’t sure where her relationship is headed with Slade or if they are even in a relationship. It doesn’t help that her best friend Karsen and Kidd have the relationship she longs to have with Slade. Even though Slade has warned her off, Audrey continues to be a torn in her side. When things get even worse between her and Slade and a mysterious and handsome stranger buy the name of Hutch arrives. Hope can’t deny the attraction she feels towards him. He is so opposite of Slade and he seems to do and say the right things. Confused, Hope starts to question everything she knows and feels for Slade.

“Just like the night the coven changed all of you. I don’t need to be saved. All I need is for you to be honest and tell me what you want.”

Slade whirled around in an instant. He grabbed me by the shoulders; his finger’s digging into my flesh. His lips close to mine, but his eyes were frantic almost. “I’ll always want you,” he said.

When things start getting out of control and the town slowly starts to turn on them.  Hope ends up battling everything in her life, her coven, her family, her friends. She has to decide if she can stay true to the girl she has always been or risk it all for the love of her life.

Holly Hood knows how to write a frustrating character in Slade. One minute you absolutely love him and the next minute you are cursing his name.

I have to say that Hope annoyed me a little bit. I felt she became more immature. I did feel sorry for her. So much to deal with and no time to deal with it. Then throw another hot guy who seems almost too willing to help her into the mix and you have yourself a bowl of confusion.

I enjoyed the twists and turns this book had to offer and of course it leaves you hanging and needing more.

A fantastic continuation of Hope and Slades’ story. I can’t wait to see what happens in book #3!

A Bonus Scene from Slade's P.O.V

I’m singing, I’m always singing, but tonight it’s different. Tonight something else is on my mind, in my ear, messing with my fucking head; she is messing with my head. Typical fucking girl always waits for the most inopportune moment to lay on the bullshit. Any other time I’d have just ignored it, but not this time, she’s got my heart in a vice grip, and every squeeze brings me further and further into misery. Fuck love.
Kidd stops playing and looks at me. “Dude, what the fuck?”
Oz at least is a little less of an asshole about me killing the moment. He shakes his head and shuffles off for a cigarette.
“Just give me a second,” I say, and I head for the door of the rv.
Dear Slade,

I find it hard to say what I want to say to you anymore. I no longer feel safe even being around you with Audrey there. So I have employed other means of communicating my bitterness over this newest issue.
You are the most stubborn, insensitive ass I have ever met. Just when I think you care, when I begin to believe maybe you’re going to show me your true self, you reject me—again.
I may be young, but I am not stupid. And I have learned one valuable thing from growing up with my parents. What is that you might be wondering?

I learned to know when to throw in the towel. I learned I am more important than any relationship I could ever have with a guy. And if that guy doesn’t see what he has, that’s his loss.
Sure, I’ll be sad, depressed even. However, those are all things I have lived with for a long time. You’re not the first person to disappoint me, Slade. And I have a feeling you won’t be the last.
When you decide to grow up come find me.

Hope

Kidd doesn’t wait long before he is outside right beside me trying to figure out my mood.

“She said she doesn’t feel safe around me,” I tell him. “Funny, cuz I thought it was me who saved her ass when Tucker and his dad were on the rampage again.”
Kidd shakes his head. “You did kind of stab her in the chest with a knife and almost get her killed by Ez.”
I roll my eyes and take a seat. “It doesn’t matter. She’s never going to let this Audrey thing go. I might as well forget it.”
Kidd knows that’s a lie as soon as I say it. And I grit my teeth waiting for the smug insult to come flying out. But he doesn’t say a thing.
“And she wants to tell me that I rejected her, the fuck I did. She’s been hanging around with that British asshole all week.” I spit. “There’s a difference between what I am doing and what she is.”
“Of course. And if you keep that attitude up, in his arms she will be,” Kidd shakes his head at me. “Maybe you can write a song about that shit.”
I push him off the steps. “Hope is the first girl I met that isn’t psychotic and out to fuck the rock star.”
“Boy, someone thinks highly of themselves,” his face grows serious. “I know. And she’s the first girl I’ve seen make you give a shit about life. And like every god damn time this coven is hell bent on ruining it.”
I wonder why he cares, he’s banging Karsen and hasn’t pissed off the coven or any of their offspring since god knows when. “Maybe I need to close up shop.”
Oz joins the conversation, and takes a seat. “Do what I do.”
I run a hand through my hair and raise an eyebrow.
“Stay the fuck away from all of them, the fewer women the better.”
Kidd laughs. “And how’s that working for you? Your hand sore yet?”
I laugh and think about driving my fist into the side of the rv as soon as that god damn letter makes its way into my memory again. “I’ll be damned if I go out without a fight.”
Kidd grins. “That’s the Slade we know and love. Are you going to wind up in jail again?”

I bite down on my lip ring. “It wouldn’t be a fight without some jail time.”
