Eva Mercer’s a mess. She’s single, nineteen, seven months pregnant, and living off the good graces of her cousin. In the midst of a complete attitude overhaul—or at least trying to change—the last thing she wants to think about is men. She’s done with them. For good. Or at least she was until Pick.

For ten years, Pick Ryan has dreamed about this girl. He knows how she smells, what it’s like to hold her in his arms, how she tastes when he kisses her. But he’s never actually met her. He doesn’t even know her name. He just knows she’s the one. It’s his brand of luck that she would walk into the bar where he works on the very day he gets married to someone else.

Pick and Eva come from completely different worlds, and yet the connection they share draws them together too tightly to matter. Nothing can keep them apart—except maybe a three-month-old boy whose life depends on just that. And so, their love becomes forbidden.

5 STAR REVIEW by Jen Skewes

This is the third book in the Forbidden Men Sereis by Linda Kage.  I honestly could not wait to get my hands on this one .  We first met Pick in To Professor Wit Love and I instantly fell in love with him.  This is Pick and Eva’s story and it was in a word Amazing!

We first met Eva in Price of A kiss.  Eva had a horrific childhood, one she is trying to escape.  She is pregnant and the  father of the baby is a complete jerk, who wants her to get rid of the baby.  Eva leaves town and moves in with her cousin Reese and Reese’s boyfriend Mason.  Eva wants to take care of and love her baby.  She wants to love her baby the way a parent should love their child.  She doesn’t want her child to grow up in a world like she did.   One day she meets Pick at the bar that Mason works at and sparks fly.  Eva wants to find love but her main priority is her baby.  But there is something about Pick and their connection that she cannot deny.  But Pick as his own issues and is not available to give her what she needs.

Pick had his own terrible childhood.  Growing in foster homes and trying to just survive.  He is one of the most loyal, caring men I have ever met.  So different than what I expected him to be.  But he simply stole my heart from the very beginning.    When he was younger he had a vision of what his future would look like.  A vision that included the angel that he would marry.  For ten years he held onto that vision hoping to one day meet this angel and get his happily ever after.   Pick has been helping out his friend Tristy who is in desperate need of a place to stay for her and her baby.  Pick being the loyal friend that he is agrees to take them both in.  But who would have thought that he would meet the woman in his dreams on the same day that he gets married.  Pick wants Eva and wants to give her everything but he also knows that a little boy needs him right now and all he can give Eva is his friendship.

Pick and Eva have a connection both physically and emotionally but they both know that a relationship between the two of them is impossible.  But when things take a turn in the right direction they find themselves helping each other out.  Taking a chance on love and on each other.  But what happens when things start to get meessy again and the past starts to catch up with Eva.  When things in Pick’s life become complicated again.  Can they survive?

This book was amazing.  I have to say that Mason was my favorite Forbidden Man until Pick came along and just completely captured my heart.  He is so sweet, caring, loving and very protective.  He has a huge heart and wants to take care of the people that he loves but at the same time he wants to be loved back.  For someone who had a childhood like he did, he is one of the most amazing men who is loyal and loving in every way possible.  I loved Eva. She has grown up a lot since we first met her.  She was a wonderful person, who wanted to do right by her child.  She loved Pick and would do anything to protect him.

Lida Kage has done it again with this novel.  This is by far one of my favorite series and they just keep getting better and better.  I loved Mason and didn't think that anyone could top him, but I was wrong.  Linda Kage knows how to completely capture you with her writing.  She creates these characters that you fall in love with, feel a connection with.  To me the best books are the ones where you feel that emotional connection with the characters and I get that every time with this series and Ms. Kage's writing.  I loved the supporting characters in this series.  I love that we still got to see a whole lot of Mason and Reese.  You feel like you are a part of their circle of friends.  I laughed with them, cried with them and my heart broke when theirs did.  I felt it all!!!  I cannot wait for the next book in this series.  Another amazing job.

I grew up on a dairy farm in the Midwest as the youngest of eight children. Now I live in Kansas with my husband, daughter, and our nine cuckoo clocks. My life's been blessed with lots of people to learn from and love. Writing's always been a major part my world, and I'm so happy to finally share some of my stories with other romance lovers.

What do you do when you find out you’re pregnant, your boyfriend rejects you, your sister is beaten half to death and the most annoyingly gorgeous man takes up residence in your house? Well ladies, there is only one thing to do, pull up your big girl knickers and show the world your middle finger.

Louise Beaumont is renowned for her sharp wit, smart mouth and sassy personality. She comes out swinging in an argument, even when she’s wrong. But even some events in life can knock her on her arse. And fighting through the sludge of emotional pressure she’s had poured over her is taking its toll.

Johan Senior is broken. A man with a deeply traumatic past, shadows and monsters haunt his every waking hour. That is until a heavenly angel is sent in the form of a loud mouthed chestnut haired vixen, who threatens his manhood countless times. But his heart grabs onto her and refuses to let her go. The only problem is, his mind needs to allow him the pleasure of human touch, and to take that terrifying step of allowing someone into his heart.

Part of the Surviving series but can be read as a standalone novel.

5 STAR REVIEW by Jen Skewes

This book!!  Oh My God how I loved this book.  I read it a few weeks ago and still think about it and a smile starts to form on my face.  Survivng Love is a beautiful, amazing, at times heart breaking and emotional story about surviving.  This is book two in the series but can be read as a stand alone.  I honestly did not read the first book which is Elemental Fear.  There are times when I read the second book of a series first knowing that it can still be read as a stand alone but sometimes feel like I needed more info.  Well that is not the case with Surviving Love.  The author gave enough background stories on each of the characters that you never felt lost.

Lets start with Johan, because I just loved him.  There is not one thing about him that I did not like.  He was such a broken man and his story was heart wrenching at times.  When his mother was killed and his father was sent to prison he was sent to live with his grandparents and his uncles.  To say his childhood was horrible is a complete understatement.  Johan went through so much pain and hurt at a very young age. What he experienced is something that NO child should ever have to go through.  We see the man that he has become because of his childhood.  We see that all though he is this really sexy, flirtatious, and sweet guy there is still this scared little boy inside that is trying to move on with his life.  Meeting Louise Beaumont has helped change him and his life.

Louise has a lot going on right now.   Her sister has been attacked by her crazy ex,  she is pregnant with her boyfriends bay who really has no interest in the baby at all.  And then there is Johan, her sister’s best friend and their roommate. While they may not have gotten off on the right foot, there is no denying that Louise feels something for him, even if it is just a physical attraction, at first.  Louise is starting to have feelings for Johan, ones that she cannot even explain but at the same time she is afraid that he does not feel the same way.  But things start to change between them.  Johan is damaged but with Louise he starts to open up to her.  She becomes his safety net in a way.  There is an attraction between them but they both deny it or run from in at first out of fear.  Will Louise help Johan move on from his troubled past?  Will they both find the happiness that they deserve?

As I already mention I loved Johan.  My heart just broke for that little boy that he was and the man that he became because of it.  He was an amazing friend but deep down he was this damaged man, a scared little boy in a man’s body.  There were moments as an adult that I cried for him and felt every emotion that he felt.  But it was those chapters that are told in his POV, growing up that just killed me.  Surviving Love deals with a very heavy topic but one that Ada Frost handled in a very delicate way.  There was never a moment where I felt it was too much.  There are not graphic details but yet you know exactly what is happening.   She managed to pull out all the emotions in you with her words.  You don’t need exact details of what happened to feel the emotions that Johan went through. I was so scared for him, I hurt for him, and I cried for him.   He is just one of those characters that you embrace instantly.  He completely captured my heart and I wanted to be able to give him a hug and tell him it would all be ok.

There were some people in his life growing up that just amazed me and in a way so thankful for.  Ryan was his uncle and him and his best friend Will as well as Will’s parents were heroes in every sense of the word.  Ryan went through so much himself but the lengths that he went to protect and love Johan will amaze you.  And Will’s mom was the angel that saved him.  She was what a true mother should be.  The moments between Johan and the heroes that saved him caused me to get choked up on numerous occasions.  Their selflessness will just touch your heart.

Now Louise I just loved.  She was a feisty thing who did not hold anything back.  She had her own issues that she was dealing with but watching her and Johan go from roommates, to friends, to lovers was just so beautiful to watch.  Johan opened up to her in ways he never opened up to anyone about his past.  She saw the scared little boy that was inside of him.  But she also saw the amazing man that was right in front of her.  It was like she was meant for him, knowing how to take care of him when he needed it the most.  They had their obstacles and issues to overcome but Louise and Johan were simply perfect together.

I cannot say enough about this book and how much I loved it.  It honestly touched me in so many ways.  It broke my heart at times.  And I found myself with tears in my eyes on many occasions.  This is certainly a very emotional read with a little bit of angst.  But it was so worth it.  Surviving Love is one of my favorites reads so far this year.  It is a beautiful, emotional love story about surviving life and love.  It will break you in so many ways but put you all back together again.  Louise and Johan’s journey is one worth taking.  It was just amazing, there really is no other way for me to describe it.

Hi! What to say about myself...I don't really have anything interesting to offer other than I love to read, and create stories for others to enjoy. I've always been told I have a vivid imagination, I just lacked the confidence to pursue putting it onto the the written page. But finally I embarked on making a single dream come true.

I love to read, and write. I only read romance, any genre really, but it has to have a beautiful romance. I also demand a HEA, even if it takes two or three books to get there. Reality is too broken and jaded without having to live through the trauma and angst in a book for it to end unhappily.
