Blog Tour: Without You by Kelly Elliott

SYNOPSIS:
Alex and Will have spent months keeping their relationship hidden from their families. Getting caught prematurely causes them to admit their love for each other to their parents.

One decision made by Alex's father changes her entire world, shattering her plans for the future. Alex always thought Will was the very air she breathed, but life has a way of causing doubts for the one thing she thought was absolute…their love.

Can Will's promise to Alex be enough for her to hold on to or will she find herself moving down a different path that she never imagined for herself?

Without You is book one in the Love Wanted in Texas series.

4.5 Stellar Stars!

Lisa Kane

I loved Kelly Elliott's Wanted series and so reading the start of a new series about the main character's kids is wonderful! Just to recap, Gunner and Ellie have two kids, Cole and Alex; Jeff and Ari had Grace and Luke, Josh and Heather had Libby and Will, Brad and Amanda had Maegan and Taylor and Scott and Jessie had Lauren.

This first one is about Gunner and Ellie's daughter Alex and Josh and Heather's son Will. The closeness that the Wanted series characters had is carried over to their offspring. They are all extremely loyal and protective of one another and there are some undercurrents of romance there also.

From the time she was ten, Alexis wanted Will.

"Someday, Mama, I'm gonna marry Will." She made a funny face, "Is that right?" I giggled. "He makes my tummy do funny things." "Your daddy makes my tummy feel the same way. But let's keep our options open. After all, you are only ten." I grinned and nodded my head. "Okay, Mama, but I'm telling ya, he's the one."

She never doubted her love for him while growing up and the two kept their romance a secret out of fear of what their parents would say about them being too young. But these two have a strong bond that time can withstand.

"Lex, I love you," he whispered. I sucked in a breath of air and fought like hell to keep the tears from falling. It wasn't the first time he'd ever said it to me, but this time, it felt so...different. "You have no idea how hard it is for me not to make love to you every time I'm with you. I want nothing more than to be with you, but I want it to be right. I want it to be perfect for you. I don't want to sneak into a barn or do it in a car. You deserve so much more than that, sweetheart. I want to make you feel special the first time we make love."

So when their secret comes out, the reaction is not as bad as they thought it might be. Smooth sailing right? Wrong.

When they are separated by different colleges things get interesting. They text, they call, (maybe there is a hotter than hell FaceTime fun!  ) but they each have their own experiences. But separation leads to loneliness and that leads to temptations and sometimes people see things and misunderstand the truth. That can lead to separations...

"I learned something through all of this. I need to start thinking for myself. I need to stop listening to my father's voice in my head and start listening to my own voice. And us being apart helped me find that voice within. The last few weeks have been hell, but the time apart has opened my eyes as well."

Only one of Alex's new experiences is not one that should ever happen to anyone. She is devastated and the after effects touch each of the characters' lives. Especially Will's. He is outraged and disgusted and wants so badly to retaliate, but he tries to stay focused on Alex and her needs. She is slow to heal and can not help but replay things in her mind over and over There are some heartbreaking passages with this storyline.

"I love her, Dad. I love her so much," I cried out. He held me tighter. "I know you do, Will." "Oh God, Dad...why? Why did this happen to her? Why?
The course of true love is not going so smoothly for the other characters either. Libby has wanted Luke for years, and although this player has wanted her, he keeps his distance, thinking he is not good enough for her innocence. But did he wait too long and did Libby make a horrible decision involving another guy in her efforts to get over Luke? Cole is having a hard time trying to be patient with Lauren and seems to put his foot in his mouth too. But those two are like oil and water, always dancing around each other. Grace has met a guy and wants everyone to think it's no big deal, but I am willing to bet Noah is a bigger deal than she is letting on.  And there is something about Maegan that just doesn't add up...so many great characters, each with their own story to be told!

This first book is a great start to this series, I particularly can not wait for Luke and Libby's story. I loved Ari and Jeff and their son holds the same angsty appeal with Libby and their road to romance.

"I'll love you for the rest of my life." "Never leave me, Will." "Never, Lex." "Do you promise? "I promise you, baby. Never."

A SNEAK PEEK LOOK AT JOURNEY HOME

“Maddie, may I ask you something?”

She smiled slowly and now it was my turn to suck in a breath of air.

“Depends on what you’re gonna ask me I guess.”

I lifted the left side of my mouth and gave her smile. What was it about this girl?

“Would you think it was to forward of me to kiss you? I mean we literally just met, but you absolutely take my breath away.”

Her mouth parted open slightly. The moonlight was shinning on her face lighting it up in such a way that I could see her eyes searching over my face.

“Do you often find yourself on a beach, alone with someone, propositioning them for a kiss?” She asked with a smirk.

I shook my head. “This would be a first for me.”

She looked down the beach and let out a giggle. “Me too.”

She looked back at me. “I can’t explain it, but you…you make me…” She laughed and shook her head as she looked away. “This is crazy insane. I can’t even believe I followed you out here.”

I placed my finger under her chin and brought her eyes back to mine.

“I make you what?”

Her smile faded as she said, “You make me want more than just a kiss, Cale, and I’ve never in my life done something like this before.”

I’d never had my heartbeat so hard in my chest before. “Maddie…” I shook my head and leaned down as I brushed my lips against hers. She placed her hands on my chest and slowly moved them up and wrapped them behind my neck as I deepened the kiss.

I kissed plenty of girls and I’d never felt anything like this before. She let out a small moan as I pulled her closer to me. She pushed her hand through my hair and tugged slightly.

I pulled my lips back some and attempted to get my erratic breathing under control.

“Tell me how far you want to go with this, Maddie.”

Her chest was moving up and down so fast as she slowly began to sink down to the ground. I followed her as she lay back on the sand and brought my lips back to hers.
