Author Jess Carcraft is suffering from writers block. After two successful romantic thrillers, Jess has a deadline and a book that will make or break her literary career. Deciding to hit the local coffee shop in hopes of finding some inspiration, little did she know that her trip to the local coffee shop would change her life forever. While standing in line to order a gorgeous stranger puts money on the counter asking her to order the same. When she brings him his coffee, they get to chatting. They learn a little about each other. She knows his name is Johnnie, she knows he sings in a band and plays the guitar. He is gorgeous, mysterious and nice. She is giddy inside, it has been awhile since anyone has made her feel this way.

Johnnie is the gorgeous lead singer of one of the world’s hottest bands, Chasing Cross. Years of being on the road has taken its toll on him. The only thing that keeps him going are the loyal fans and his younger brother and fellow band mate Danny. Only one more show to go before getting a little break from touring. When his band manager calls, Johnnie sets up a meeting at a local coffee shop. When Johnnie makes small talk with a gorgeous women, an author no less he is shocked and relieved that she has no clue as to who he really is. When she mentions her best friend wants to drag her to some concert, he encourages her to go. When his manager arrives she politely excuses herself.  Jess is the only thing on Johnnie’s mind and more than anything, he wants to get to know her.

“That doesn’t matter!” Johnnie said as he turned around. “I don’t care what you know or don’t know. I care about the way you look at me. The way I look at you. That’s where it all starts. We can get to know each other over time, can’t we?”

Attending one of the biggest concerts of the year with her best friend, Jess is absolutely shocked when she sees who the leads singer of Chasing Cross is. Johnnie from the coffee shop. When Johnnie has security escort her backstage, Johnnie makes sure she knows he wants her in more ways than one. When he invites her to his cabin for a few days the chemistry between them explodes and the passion they feel for each other quickly develops into so much more.

“All I know is that I met a woman today that made my heart jump a little. And then in a crowd of thousands, there she was again, I’m not afraid, Jess, and I won’t hold back.”

“Don’t,” Jess said. “Please. Don’t....”

Johnnie made his next move, bringing his lips down to her. They were a centimeter away. Jess’s lips started to quiver, waiting to feel Johnnie kiss her.

Getting to know each other better, Jess learns just how passionate Johnnie is with his music and sees that he struggles with choice he needs to make, one that will affect the entire band. Then Jess receives news from her publisher and the choice she needs to make will also change her life forever. 

“Jess, I love you . Okay? I love you. I’m not going to give up right now. On anything.”

This was a fun and easy read, although Jess and Johnnie’s relationship happened very quickly but that is what made it fun. Seriously, what woman doesn’t fantasize about a rock star falling in love with them. 

The characters were easy to like. The chemistry between Jess and Johnnie was HOT!

The ending of this book leads into Broken Sound (Brothers of Rock #2) which is Davey’s story and man it’s a shocker of an ending. I look forward to seeing a glimpse of Jess and Johnnie  but at the same time I look forward to seeing the other band members journey to happiness. 

If you a looking for a sexy, fun and easy read this is just the story to satisfy your need.

Anna is a teacher who also happens to be working as a waitress. Thanks to her ex-boyfriend she is desperately trying to pay off debts he so kindly left her with. Picking up extra shifts when she can, Anna’s life is a living hell. Little did Anna know that by doing a favor for her boss to help out with a special guest, her life would change.

Davey is the lead guitarist for Chasing Cross. He was enjoying the life of being a rock star that is until Cassy shows up claiming he is the father of her 18 month old son. With no recollection of his time with Cassy, he feels guilty. He asks her to dinner so they can talk and try to work something out. What Davey wasn’t expecting was Anna. Embarrassed by Cassy’s behavior and very impressed how Anna handled it, Davey wants to get to know her better but he is in a bit of a pickle with Cassy and the bomb she dropped on him.

“Anna, from the second you walked to the table before, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you. I know who I am and I know how things appear... but there’s something special about you. I can just sense it.”

When Davey returns to the restaurant and asks to speak with her, she is excited and confused. When they arrive at his hotel room Anna learns that there is more to Davey than meets the eye. He is haunted by his past and she yearns to be a part of his future. 

“All you can do is follow your heart.” Anna said. “It’s not always easy, and face it, it doesn’t always guarantee we won’t get hurt...but that’s life.”

Learning the truth about each other’s past and wanting to be a part of each other’s future, Davey needs to deal with Cassy and her claim. While waiting for the paternity test results, the media gets wind of the story and all hell breaks loose. 

“My God, Anna, how can you be so beautiful and perfect...”

“...and broken,” Anna added, then smiled.

“We’re both broken, but we fit together.”

“Just the jagged curves of puzzle pieces.”

When Anna’s past comes back to haunt her, the decision she has to make will affect her future and the man she truly loves. That decision may also have deadly consequences...

I adored Davey. He has such a kind heart and wants to do right by everyone.

Anna is wonderful and kind hearted as well and her big heart is what got her into trouble. 

Aside from a few grammatical errors and a little bit of a predictable plot, this story was fun, angsty and sexy.  The characters we were well developed.

I look forward to seeing what Ms. James has in-store for Danny in book #3.

If you are looking to get lost with a rock star, this book was a fun, entertaining and easy read.

Death changes everything.

For Addison Snow death did change everything.  It changed the way she lived, how she felt, it changed her ability to trust people and let them in.  Addison's world was shattered when her mother and best friend suddenly passed away.  And at the young age of 18 she was left to pick up all the pieces.  Her father was just as shattered but he chose to turn to the bottle to get past the grief and pain.  Addison chose a different alternative, one that would leave her feeling numb and no longer having to deal with the pain.  Addison was saved that night where she tried to end it all and it's now 10 months later and Addison is still dealing with the pain and grief of losing her mother.  Her father has been in and out of rehab more times than she cares to count.  Her other family and friends have managed to let her down as well, leaving her all alone to deal with not only her own grief but the responsibility to taking care of the house, the bills and her mom's bakery that she was so proud of.   She feels that she cannot trust anyone and shuts anyone out who tries to get close to her.  She sees a therapist and goes to group therapy as well, but she just sits there and listens to other people.  She is just going through the motions of everyday life and has learned to do that by shutting her feelings off. Until she meets Zander Reinhardt.

What can I say about Zander, other than he is complete perfection.   Zander has become a regular in her mom's bakery.  He has been admiring her from afar and one day leaves a little note for her on a napkin that says;   "You're beautiful when you smile.  You should do it more often." - see perfect!

Zander begins leaving notes for her each day and they begin to develop a friendship.  Zander is there for her when she breaks down, when she needs a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen.  He slowly brings back that spark in her life that has been missing since her mother passed away.  Addison knows that she is starting to fall for Zander but she is still a little hesitant to move forward because she is afraid of being let down by Zander, just like everyone else in her life.  She is afraid to open up her heart to him only to have it crushed.  Through therapy though, she learns that she needs to live for herself for once.  She needs to do something for Addison, something that will make her happy.  She slowly starts opening up to Zander and their friendship turns into something more.  But Zander is hiding something from her and is afraid that when she finds out what it is that she will run.  Zander has fallen in love with Addison, he has no intention of hurting her.  He wants to be there for her, to help her heal and see her beautiful smile.  But when his secret is revealed can she forgive him and move past it?

Zander and Addison were so great together.  Zander understands Addison, he "gets" her like no one else does.  He cares about her and wants to make her happy, wants her to believe that everything will be OK. He never pushed her, instead he just let her know that he was there for her.  That she didn't have to do it all on her own.  He was sweet and caring and totally swoon worthy.  He thought she was beautiful and stunning and wanted to make her smile.  The notes he left her will make you smile and the scenes with the Legos will completely melt your heart.  While Zander and Addison's love story is a beautiful one, the main focus of this story goes much deeper than that.  It is the heart breaking journey of a young girl trying to cope with the loss of her mother.  She is trying to learn how to live again, how to move past the hurt and the pain. Learning how to live her life again with feeling and emotion.  With the help of her therapist and Zander she learns how to heal and how to be the girl that she once was.  They both believe in her, believe in the dreams she has for herself, but Addison needs to believe in herself.  She needs to learn that it is ok to be afraid and at the same time it is ok to let people in again. 

"YOU'RE STUNNING WHEN YOU SMILE AND LAUGH. ADDISON!"   he yells to me.

"I'm 5'4 with boring, brown, wavy hair that hangs past my shoulders, unless it's in my usual messy ponytail....But Zander thinks I'm stunning.  He sees something that I've never seen."

Tara Sivec has written a very emotional story that is both heart wrenching and heart warming at the same time.  This story is told from Addison's POV, going back and forth from present to flashbacks of Addison and her mother, to her sessions with her therapist.  Addison's story will touch your heart.  The emotions that she goes through are real and raw and intense.  And as the reader you will be going through those emotions along with her.  I think Addison was an amazing heroine and I admired her in a lot of ways.  At one point she made an attempt to give up,  but once she had a second chance at life, she did everything she could to embrace it.  She was 19 years old and carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders.  Her journey to healing was a bumpy one with a few twists and turns along the way.  But in the end she learned how to get through it all.  Amazing job by Tara Sivec!

"You can still pick up the pieces, Sugar.  They fell apart for a little while, but it doesn't mean anything is damaged.  Everything can be fixed.  And you don't have to fix it alone.  There's always someone who will help you rebuild."

“How about after I’m done with my classes” My second class ends about ten. I should be home by ten-thirty.”

“That would be great! I’ll be waiting. Do you like anything special in your coffee?” “Well, I’m a fan of hazelnut, but I don’t want you to go to any trouble. I am a coffee fiend so really anything will be great,” she said.

“Well, it’s a date then,” he said, a glimmer in his eyes. “See you later.” “See you then, Roger.”

As Kate adjusts to being a student again. She finds herself attracted to a fellow student Mark Baxter but keeps her distance. He constantly surrounded by women.  It has been awhile since she has had these feelings but her gut is telling her that there is something more to him, he maybe gorgeous but he is definitely a player.  Trying to fight her attraction to him and after talking with him, she agrees and gives him her number. Still unsure if he is being honest or just being a guy.

“I don’t want any of the other girls on campus,” he said, a frown on his gorgeous face. A face with chiseled fine features and big green eyes that had already seared their way into her heart. Then his face relaxed. “I want the beautiful, intelligent woman standing here before me now. It’s not only your beauty that I find intriguing, but your intelligence is extremely sexy to me as well. Every time you talk in class, I am mesmerized by what you are saying. I want to know everything about you. I want to figure out what makes you tick. I want hours to go by with you and have it seem like minutes. I want to make you feel things that you have never felt before.”

What Kate wasn’t expecting was the persistance and persuasiveness of Neil Statton. Neil is everything she would want in a man he is gorgeous, successful, sexyl and determined. He has been nothing but a gentleman with her. He is so intense and the attraction she feels towards him scares her more than anything. How can she be this attracted to two completely opposite men? Coming to terms that she isn’t tied down to anyone she agrees to go on a date with Neil a date that will change her life in more ways than one.

“I know I said I would be a perfect gentleman. But the truth of the matter is you make me absolutely wild.” His breathing was heavy. “I want you so badly. I want to be your man.” “You are so beautiful. I want to make love to you. Please let me,” he pleaded. “I want you so much. I just can’t wait.”

Roger Wilkins. I love how Roger appears to be this normal guy. In the beginning I was like - ok his military training has him more in-tune with things and with people, but then hearing his thoughts about Kate after only having a phone conversation with her. That is when I realized that there is a little more to Roger than I thought. He is that character you love to hate. He is good looking but creepy- gets too involved, asks weird questions, makes you uncomfortable. I was intrigued yet mortified and shocked at some of his actions. The man absolutely has no remorse. WHOA! He is a creeptasticly fubard character. Brilliantly written.  Kate is friendly with him but also uncomfortable around him she can’t explain it but she remains friendly with him. He is her neighbor after all and has been nothing but nice to her.

Then you have Mark. He is this gorgeous college guy who is genuinely interested in Kate. He is swoon worthy for sure. Kate knows guys like him, the player. He does his best to prove to Kate that she is wrong about him. Kate wants to give him a chance but is reluctant. When Kate over hears gossip from another classmate she realizes her gut was right.

Last but not least is Neil Statton. A widowed, gorgeous, young lawyer. The moment he saw Kate he knew he had to have her and used to getting what he wants he does everything he can to get her. He is smart, sexy and very determined. Their attraction for each other is off the freaking charts! With their commom bond of suffering a loss, they can easily relate to each other. This man will melt your panties right off of you. *fans self-off* You can’t help but fall in love with him.

Kate is so out of the dating loop and so distraught from her past that she has no idea what to do. She see’s that Roger has shown some interest. He is nice but he also has a girlfriend. Her two toughest decisions are between Mark and Neil. She is really torn up about it until she discovers the truth about one of them. What’s a girl to do? The one thing she doesn’t do is string them along.

When Kate finally makes her choice, you are left with two very unhappy men. One of them will do everything he can to make what he thinks is his competition disappear for good.

When one of the men start acting strange, facts start to surface and Kate realizes her life is in danger as are those around her. When Kate and Charlie suddenly move out, one man will do everything to get her back and won’t give up until she is his.

Carlie Sexton has the perfect formula in this book... mystery, suspense, the shock factor, romance, loss, steamy sex, humor, heartache, love... This book had me pulled in from chapter one. The character are fantastic!

This book leaves you hanging and I am so looking forward to seeing what happens in book #2.

Our Interview with Dean, Evy and Ms. Kaitlyn Cross

“Here we are at Sugars, what do you ladies think? It’s cute huh?” Kristie says as she parks the car. We all get out of the car yawning and stretching. Lisa licks her lips and says, “OMG, I can smell their baked goods and I think I just gained a few pounds. “ Jen giggles and says, “We should buy some, that way we have some yummy treats for the long ride home.” Both Lisa and Kristie nod in agreement.  “I hope they have coffee, it's really early and I won’t be able to function without a cup of coffee,” Lisa says ,yawning again. We open the door to Sugars and we immediately spot Dean holding hands with Evy and they are talking to Ms. Kaitlyn Cross, who is waving us over to a table in the corner. There are some empty mugs and a pot of coffee waiting and some scrumptious looking cupcakes. Kristie extends her hand and says, “It's so nice to finally meet the two of you. We're the Three Chicks, I'm Kristie and this is Lisa and Jen.” “Yes, it's really nice of you to meet us before opening for business.” Jen shakes their hands and says, “Such a cute place and I love the idea of a dessert bar, who doesn’t like sweets and alcohol?” We all take a seat, pour our coffee and get settled. “Ok you two, ready to get started?” Kristie asks.  Both Dean and Evy nod and Kaitlyn says, “Let’s do this!”

Three Chicks: Dean, what was it about Evy that made you realize she was different?

Dean:  When she kept shooting me down!

Three Chicks: Evy, at what moment did you fall in love with Dean?

Evy: Our first kiss was something unexplainable, it really was, but when I was sick a few weeks later and he brought me soup I think I went head over heels. I was in sweats and looked (and sounded) horrible, but he still kept coming around.

Three Chicks: Dean, being a lawyer I am sure you have picked up on reading people, you know being able to tell when they are lying?(Kristie looks at him with raised eyebrows) How come you didn’t DEMAND a paternity test?  (Lisa states as a matter of fact, “You can get the fetus tested between 10-12 weeks, there is the amniocentesis or CVS, they even have a noninvasive test too!” Jen and Kristie nod in agreement) You were always adamant about wearing protection with your umm, previous sexual partners. (Kristie blushes then says, “Pardon my French but why on earth did you believe that kinky crazy ass nympho, Megan?") 

Dean: Good thing you waited for Evy to use the restroom before asking that question ;) It’s my understanding you’d be hard-pressed finding a doctor willing to perform a paternity test before birth. It’s too risky and clinics won’t take the chance of a malpractice suit. According to the two doctors I’ve spoken with, the only real way to be sure is through DNA testing after the baby is born. As far as Megan goes, I never knew what was fact or fiction. Most of the time I thought she could go Jodi Arias on me at any second. Despite using protection, which - like Megan said - isn’t foolproof, I could never shirk any responsibility I may have had with a clear conscience.

Three Chicks: Evy, we can only imagine how you felt about Dean’s marriage to Megan, how were you able to get through it?

Evy: Wine & baking.

Well, that, and I knew I was in his heart. Regardless, it was tough fighting back those dark thoughts when Dean was 4,000 miles away with another woman. I still have nightmares about it and probably always will. I’m surprised I didn’t end up with a gray streak running through my hair.

Three Chicks: Dean- When did you realize that Evy was your one and only? (All Three Chicks lean forward in anticipation of his answer) 

Dean: It’s hard to put a finger on an exact moment but the first time I saw Evy at Panera I knew she was different. The breeze tickling her hair in slow motion is the first thing I remember. I wanted to be that breeze, to be the sun kissing her skin. It was instinct and my heart just knew it.

Three Chicks: Evy- How is Sugars doing? Ben and Brooke are they doing well?

Evy: Sugars is so amazing. The publicity that came our way afforded us the opportunity to hire Shaun on full-time, and his beers are now in a dozen other bars around town! Brooke and Ben are finally getting to enjoy the “sweets” of their labor and they couldn’t be happier. This is their time to shine and nothing will stand in their way.

Three Chicks: Dean- Has the divorce been finalized yet? Will there be a lawsuit?

Dean: The divorce has been finalized and the champagne popped! No lawsuit. We’re all eager to move forward and not relive any of it over again.

Three Chicks: Evy- Did you ever think that you had lost Dean forever?

Evy: For a second there, yes I did. I didn’t think Megan would ever give up. Sean said it best when he said that girl is crazier than a cross-eyed weasel in a chicken coop. She tried friending me on Facebook! Who does that?

Three Chicks: This question is for you both- Where do you see yourselves in the next few years?

Evy: Well, I’m glad you asked because we have great news… Dean just proposed to me so hopefully we’ll have our own family in the next few years. It’s been so amazing living normal lives these past few weeks and I can’t wait to share that with children of our own someday soon.

Three Chicks: What have you learned or what did you take away from after going through all of this crazy shit?

Dean:  I learned to never listen to Jon. Even though he risked his life dressing up as Crusty the Clown and facing Ryder in the street, April and Megan were his call at the bar that dark night and I’ll never let him forget it.

Evy: He’s kidding (sort of). We learned how lucky we are to have the people around us that we do.

Three Chicks: Your boss, Ms. Kaitlyn Cross, put you through the ringer, what do you think she has planned for you two?

Dean: I heard she’s got an awesome bachelor party lined up for me and I can’t wait!

Evy: Not so sure Ms. Cross does have an awesome bachelor party lined up for you.

Dean: I’m pretty sure she does.

Evy: No, she doesn’t.

Dean: I promise no strippers.

Evy: Uh-huh.

Three Chicks: Ok we have a few fun questions for the two of you, ready? What is your favorite food?

Dean: Evy’s homemade barbeque chicken pizza.

Evy: Saz’s beer battered haddock and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Best Wisconsin fish fry around!

Three Chicks: Going out or staying in?

Evy: Staying in.

Dean: Preferably in bed. (All Three Chicks blush)

Three Chicks: What one word pops in your mind that you would use to describe one another?

Dean: Breathtaking.

Evy: Committed.

Three Chicks: Kaitlyn, How did the idea of this story come to life? What inspired your characters?

Kaitlyn: Believe it or not, I almost had Fate Interrupted happen to me when I met my husband. Shortly after we began dating, he kept getting these late-night calls from someone named Megan and would try hiding them from me. I thought for sure this girl was a pregnant fling from the recent past but turns out the calls were just good old fashioned booty-calls. He, of course, changed his number as the girl couldn’t take a hint and kept calling!

Three Chicks: Kaitlyn, Who are/were your influences when it comes to writing?

Kaitlyn: Candace Bushnell, Meg Cabot, Sarah Addison Allen, and Chuck Palahniuk just to name a few. Currently, I’m reading Wait for Me by Elizabeth Naughton and it is nail biting! The Sweet Gum Tree and Wallbanger are two more great ones.

Three Chicks: Kaitlyn, At what age did you discover your passion for writing?

Kaitlyn: I started writing stories in grade school and actually just came across a few of them after moving two years ago. I’m surprised I didn’t end up writing horror as some of those tales were pretty dark for a little girl with brown pigtails and a My Little Pony t-shirt.

Three Chicks: Kaitlyn, What are you working on these days? Anything you can share with us?

Kaitlyn: Right now I’m wrapping up Brooke & Ben: Before Fate Interrupted and it has been an absolute blast to work with those two again. They’re so much fun and Brooke always says the things I’m thinking but too afraid to say in real life. Lol! B&B will be out late June/early July, and at the end of that story we’ll find out what’s next for Evy and Dean - and who is right about his bachelor party…

“That was a fantastic interview, thank you Dean and Evy and Kaitlyn, this wouldn’t have been possible without you. Thank you so much for agreeing to meet with us,” Kristie says ,as she gives Kaitlyn a hug. “I 'm in cupcake heaven! These were the BEST ever! Too bad it's too early for a cocktail.” Jen says, while giving her satisfied stomach a little pat. “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere besides go ahead and indulge, you aren’t driving.” Lisa says smirking. We say our goodbyes and of course we end up getting three of everything for our road trip. We head towards the door and we are surprised but not shocked to see that there is a line outside to get in. “Wow, Brooke and Ben must be so proud. Congratulations on the success of Sugars and congratulations on your engagement! You two definitely deserve it after what you have been through,” Kristie says, while opening the door. We wave goodbye and head to the car as the customers go inside. “That was fun; we should definitely do this again,” Lisa says ,while getting into the car. Jen looks at the box of goodies and asks, “I wonder if Evy would give me a recipe for her cupcakes, they were out of this world?”  “I know right?” Kristie says in excitement. “Time to go back to the hotel, then we will do the whole Milwaukee touristy thing. Sound good?” Lisa says, looking at the tourist guide pamphlet. Jen and Kristie nod in agreement and Kristie starts the car and drives back to the hotel.
