When Ronan Sharpe unexpectedly left Colorado for parts unknown, he took a piece of Keely Carmichael's heart with him.

After leaving his hellish roots behind him, Ronan found contentment when he started over. Thoughts of the past had been pushed down for so long; he hardly thought about it at all.

He intended to keep it that way.

When unexpected circumstances force Ronan to return to Colorado, the Keely he finds is no longer the adolescent girl he remembered. Torn between desire and fear, Ronan struggles with his feelings for Keely and his need to escape the town that scarred him so deeply years ago.

Letting go is all Ronan's ever known. Will he realize a life with Keely is something he should hold onto at any cost?

Review by Lisa Kane

"Don't ever forget your worth-not even for a minute."

The last time Keely Carmichael saw Ronan she was 14 years old and he was walking out the door. She idolized Ronan and even though he was older than her, she relied on him for support. Her family life sucked-her father favored her older sister, Isabelle and things revolved around her. There wasn't a whole lot of positives in her life. Ronan thought he was in love and up until something happened, his plan was to make his life in Fort Collins, Colorado. His brother was a jerk (that is putting it mildly!) but he thought he had his life planned out. He had his woman and his future.

Regardless of the fact I'd long suspected he'd been breastfed on Satan's milk, Will had been the last living member of my family.

But what happened changed everything and he made a spur of the moment decision to leave. But he wanted to say goodbye to Keely before he left.

She'd been my little shadow for a long time. Where I went, she wanted to go. It had been more than obvious she'd had a wicked case of hero worship where I was concerned. It was sweet, but misplaced. I'd been no hero-just a dumb bastard who learned lessons the hard way.

Five years later and Keely is living a nightmare. She is waking up after being in a horrendous car accident with her sister Izzy, and her brother in law Will. Her sister was pregnant and Keely remembers the medics talking about having to take the baby. Her sister was acting strangely all through her pregnancy, insisting that the baby wasn't hers-she was a surrogate for another couple. But in the meantime, she kept loading tons of baby supplies in Keely's apartment. (Hmmm..) Keely used to live with Izzy and Will but after something happened she moved out in a hurry. Her relationship with her sister was more than a little strained-her sister had always been crazy in love with Will who was a total nut job and Izzy refused to listen to reason.

Ronan has gotten a call that his brother Will was killed in a car accident along with his wife and their newly born baby is all alone. Izzy's younger sister, Keely is unconscious in the hospital. He feels guilty because he is in Montana and she is all alone. He gets the first plane out.

Once Ronan sees Keely again, he feels the tenderness that has always overwhelmed her when he is with her. Only now she is a woman, at 19 she is a gorgeous woman and this might not be such a good thing. The age difference between 19 and his 26 isn't a big deal.

She'd been awake for five seconds and I was eyeing her up like she was on a runway. It was fucked up.

And then there is the matter of the baby-Ronan is in no position to be a father and Keely has her life ahead of her. Is adoption the answer?

"A beautiful name for a beautiful girl. It fits you, baby girl. You're an Emma."

I kept wanting to know what it was that Ronan saw that was so horrible he left town. How did Keely know that Will was so screwed up and so wrong for her sister? When I finally read what the truth was, I can honestly say I didn't see that coming...

Ronan makes it known to Keely that he is in town to tie up all the loose ends. His life and his business is in Montana. The closer they become, the harder it is for Keely to imagine what life will be like without him.

"I'm not staying here," he said so quietly, I had to strain to hear him. "This is only short-term."

Both Keely and Ronan have suffered at the hands of their families, and both need healing-maybe they can heal each other?

This is a sweet, slightly angsty story about two people whose connection is through a tiny baby. Being a love of turmoil in my stories, I actually would have loved a little more drama and just a tad bit less sweet, but this is the kind of story to read when you just can't stand another book that tears your heart out. This is one of those soothes your soul.

It was exactly what I wanted to give Emma-a home base she could always return to, no matter how old she was. I'd never had anything like that, which made me want it for her all the more.

PROLOGUE

There were nasty looking bruises on his cheek and jaw, his lip was swollen and his knuckles were scraped and bloody.  The instant I got a good look at his face I knew something was horribly wrong.  It only went downhill from there.

My attempts to contain my panic weren’t working.  Choking back a sob I blubbered, “Why do you have to go?”

The anger was all but pouring off of him.  Not toward me—he’d never once been angry with me. I knew anger though, and it was more than obvious he was furious about something. A permanent grimace seemed to have set up camp on his face.  For him, it was highly unusual.  Even in the toughest of times, he kept his cool.

Suddenly, he wasn't calm at all.  He was angrier than I’d ever seen him.  It was obvious he’d been in a fight, but it didn’t change his status as the most attractive guy alive, in my opinion.

I saw his jaw clenching and unclenching which I figured meant he was trying to control himself.

“Because this piece of shit town is like a fucking cancer,” he spat.  “I’m so done with the crazy assholes around here. People like us aren’t normal—we’re the freaks for trying to be good people.”

I didn’t know how to argue with his words.  He wasn’t wrong—there was a lot wrong with many of the people in our town. Most of the crazy people were either my family members or his.  I knew it and so did he.  There wasn’t a response to erase the reality of the kind of people we dealt with.

“Are you going alone?”

His hands clenched into fists at his sides as he nodded stiffly. “Yes.”

“Even though you live with—”

His hand shot up into a stop gesture to keep me from finishing the sentence.

“Don’t say her fucking name. If I never hear it again, it’ll be too soon. I don’t live with that crazy bitch anymore.”

I couldn’t stand her so it wasn’t like I was going to push. She was an evil troll. If he had to go, I was glad he wasn’t taking her with him.  It would’ve made me ill. She pretended to be sweetness and light when he was around but it was nothing but a charade.  She was terrible.  I was glad he wasn’t taking her, but the fact he wouldn’t say her name told me his leaving was somehow her responsibility. I hated her more than ever.

“Where will you go?”

He gestured back over his shoulder toward the street with his thumb.

“Wherever my car takes me once I pull out,” he said.

I couldn’t imagine life without him, nor did I want to. Not only had he been my crush for as long as I could remember, he was the only person who ever really listened to me.

“Will you ever visit?” I asked hopefully.

He was shaking his head in the negative before I’d even fully finished asking the question. I knew he wouldn’t. The bone-deep hatred he had for everything about where we lived was stamped all over his face.  I wanted so badly to know what, exactly, had sent him over the edge, but when I asked, he’d refused to tell me.

It sucked being fourteen because he treated me like a kid.  My age said I was a child, but I was so different than any of my peers it wasn’t even funny.  Because of this, they teased me often, referring to me as Granny Carmichael.  I hated it.  It wasn’t as though I’d had a choice.  My childhood was over the moment my mother got sick.

His expression softened when he looked me over. “You need to get back inside before you get pneumonia.”

The frigid Colorado air wasn’t even making an impression on me until he pointed it out. I realized my tears were leaving cold trails on my face, but I couldn’t walk away. All I cared about was how much I didn’t want him to leave.

“I don’t care about the cold or getting pneumonia.  I don’t want you to go!” I cried anxiously.

He hugged me then, his strong arms wrapping around me to give comfort.  I hadn’t hugged him since I’d been much younger—probably five or six.  Those hugs had mostly involved me wrapping myself around one of his legs.  This was different. I wrapped my arms tight around him and cried against his chest, holding on for as long as he allowed me to.

“I’m sorry,” he said as he ended the embrace and stepped back. “I have to leave.”

Knowing my denial and resistance weren’t going to make any difference, I swiped at my tears as I nodded.

“I’ll miss you,” I said on a choked sob.  “Take care of yourself.”

“I’ll miss you too,” he replied softly.  “You’re one of the few good people here.”

My heart galloped in my chest. I loved him for saying what he did—but hated that it came at such a horrible price.  Losing him was unbearable.

He turned as if to leave, then stopped.  Spinning back my way, he stared at me intently for a few moments before he spoke again.

“You’re so much better than any of these people. Don’t ever let them change who you are. The world needs a lot more you and a lot less them. No matter what anyone tells you—you’re perfect.  Got it?”

I nodded as I wiped at the tears running unchecked down my face.

He hugged me again, very briefly. My heart skipped a few beats when he dropped a kiss on top of my head.

“Don’t ever forget your worth—not even for a minute,” he murmured.

When he let go, he said nothing else.  He just turned and walked to his car.  As he went, the chill in the air suddenly took hold of me.  Hugging my arms around myself, I watched as he got into the car, turned it on and then pulled out of my driveway.  He looked at me one last time before putting his hand up in a goodbye gesture.  I did the same.  A few seconds passed before he put the car in drive then sped off into the night.

I stayed outside for two or three minutes, hoping against hope he would change his mind and come back.

He didn’t.

Hours later when I got into bed, I prayed fate would bring him back one day.  I said the same prayer most nights for a long, long time. Eventually I had no choice but to accept reality.

Hell would freeze over before he returned.

I’m dead.
I’m cold and alone and I’m dead. There’s no air in my lungs. My chest is as cold and hollow as a cave on a snow-capped mountain side. My heart no longer beats there. Frigid winds whistle through my ribs and the sadness inside me weeps like my favorite tree.
Days ago, I met with death face to face. The mirror, our meeting place. My two darkened green eyes stared deeply into hers. I tilted my head to the side. She did too.
“It’s time,” I whispered.
“It’s time,” she whispered.
And with that I turned away from her, the woman in the mirror who knew all of my secrets and all of my pain. I walked away from her and yet we’d never been closer than we were in that moment. The inner struggle was over. No more arguing with the woman in the mirror. No more arguing with myself. The choice was made. She was the victor. Or was I?
That was the day Riah Winter died.

Review by Natasha Gentile

What's worse, living when you want to die or dying while you're fighting to live?

I’m dead.

So I’m sitting her reading this blurb and I don’t know how to take it.  It’s giving me shivers and goosebumps.  I don’t know if my heart can allow itself to read it but I do anyway.
I’m cold and alone and I’m dead. There’s no air in my lungs. My chest is as cold and hollow as a cave on a snowcapped mountain side. My heart no longer beats there.
So if you’re looking for a book about rainbows , butterflies and unicorns this is most definitely not the book for you.
But if you are looking for a book that will gut you right down to your soul then this is the one. I connected so much to her it was startling, even for me to accept and acknowledge it.  Not to the extreme that Riah was,  but to her situation.
The inner struggle was over.
No more arguing with the woman in the mirror.
No more arguing with myself.
The choice was made.
She was the victor. Or was I?
When you think you are drowning and nothing can save you, you just spiral.  It’s a feeling that you can’t even describe, but we have all been there.  How many times have we just asked ourselves can I just have a minute?  Can I just drink my coffee without being asked a question?
Whether at work or at home,  sometimes you just need a minute to breathe.

Days ago, I met with death face to face.
The mirror, our meeting place. My two darkened green eyes stared deeply into hers.
I tilted my head to the side. She did too.
“It’s time,” I whispered. “It’s time,” she whispered
.
Riah Winter died, she died without help.  She died but before she left she looked in the mirror, a mirror that knew all her deepest secrets and what she found out is that.  Everything is not always like it seems.  That you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover.  You shouldn’t think that the person next door has that perfect life that you strive to have.
Riah Winter showed me all that.   She made me see her pain as my strength.  She made me love my life, as crazy and hellish as it is at times.  She made me see that even those annoying moments when you just want two seconds to yourself,  you should sit back and cherish it.  Cherish every single moment because you don’t know what comes next or if you are even there for it.
It also showed me, that I hold the key to my destiny.  I hold the key to my happiness.  So be happy that you are living.  Be happy that you have what you have even if it isn’t like you thought you would.
It’s living.
Kathryn Perez you have gutted me and made me think of better things even though the message to get there made me gasp and turn away!

Review: Forbid Me (The Good Ol Boys) by M Robinson

It was only a matter of time until the truth came out.
I never thought it would come to this…
I tried, God knows I tried to stay away from her but eventually I crossed that line and broke that trust. I could no longer go back and I sure as fuck didn’t regret a single moment of it. I knew there would be hell to pay, I knew the wrath I’d be facing but I would willingly take the burns and scars just to have the love of my best friend's sister.
If there is one person I’d willingly go to hell and back for it was…

Lillian Ryder

Standalone within a series. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Strong language and sexual content, not intended for readers under 18.

5 Fantastic Stars

Review by Natasha Gentile

Where do I start with this book?  I have to say I was lucky enough to be added to M. Robinson beta team with the promise that I would be gentle with her babies.  I am happy to say that I didn’t need to keep my promise because they were awesome!

This is the second in the series for the Good Ol’ Boys.  Of course we have already met these characters in Complicate Me, but I was so happy we finally got the back story of Lily and Jacob and what a ride it was.  This was my journey.

It was only a matter of time until the truth came out.

That my friends is a loaded sentence.  You sit there thinking to yourself what truth?  You sit there wondering how long would it take for Jacob to come senses?  Let me just put it to you like this.  He just needed a couple of pushes.  And well Lily, this woman was so strong.

I never thought it would come to this…

He’s known Lily since she was a little baby.  Vowed to always always watch over her.  Except Lily started looking at Jacob with stars in her eyes.  Not one to wait for Jacob to come to terms with it she told him and showed him each and every time that she could.

She dangled herself in front of him pushing him to the edge of the cliff and it was just a matter of time before he jumped off not knowing where he would land.

I tried, God knows I tried to stay away from her but eventually I crossed that line and broke that trust.

It took so much for him to finally give in to Lily.  I mean this poor thing would put herself out there each and every time with the end result always being Jacob walking away.  Walking away;  but he was leaving a piece of his heart each time.  In the end she had his heart the whole time, she just needed his head to catch.

When they finally get on the same path fate steps in and Jacob knows that there is no turning back.  But you see he’s turned his back on her so many times it takes everything he has in order to make her see that she is it for him.  She’s his lobster.

I knew there would be hell to pay, I knew the wrath I’d be facing but I would willingly take the burns and scars just to have the love of my best friend's sister.
There seems to be only one problem now that they are both on the same page.  Telling his best friend and her brother.  You see with all the years that they have been playing this cat and mouse game the only one that didn’t see the chase was her brother.

He had his girl, she had her guy; they went through hell to get there.  They went through laughter, growth, heartache, and sadness but most importantly they learned to love wholeheartedly. But how will this all play out when her brother finds out?

The story just flowed beautifully and made you want so much more of these characters.  It made you see more stories to come and I for one can’t wait!

Review by Natasha Gentile

I have been waiting for this book ever since that scene went down in the second book Show Me How.  I’ve been stalking this author for this book and I have to say she certainly didn’t let me down.

I made the mistake of taking a shower and climbing into bed thinking I’ll just read a couple of chapters.  Umm big mistake.  This book had my heart racing, it gave me  palpitations and it had me very,  very tired the next day.

One weakness can change everything.

Meara and Liam were friends long before they fell in love, which makes for the best love stories.  Their future was already planned before they graduated high school.  Meara would take over her family bar and Liam, well he always dreamed that he wanted to play drums.

This couple put their faith in the love they had for each other.  Meara was not going to become the clingy girlfriend that she hates.  She is going to give him his dream and be there waiting for him. I mean how long can a tour last?  Let’s just say she has the patience of a saint!

One tour turns into two tours which turns into years of them being apart.  I have to admit I thought she would give up.  I thought we would fast forward seven years with them apart, but to my surprise and joy not only were they still together they still loved each other something fierce!

I would expect someone who is so famous to have groupies hanging off of him but Liam…Well this man, he has my heart.  He is ready to call this tour thing off.  He has sacrificed everything for his band and for once he wants to put himself first, but most of all he wants to put Meara first.

Six more months that is all they have to make if through, but what happens when that six months become the final straw?  What happens when his one weakness changes everything that he knows?

His dark secret is exposed and his entire world crumbles around him, he has no choice but to let her go.
Letting her go is not what he ever planned to do.  Keeping her safe, keeping her love , keeping her his is the only thing that he ever planned to do.

But now that he’s lost her, can he get her back?  Can these two finally have the ending that they dreamed of having when they were teenagers?

Will their love be able to repair the heartbreak and lies?

One night was all it took for everything to fall apart.

Can one moment be all that’s needed to repair it?

Can he actually become the man that she knows he can be?  Can he prove to her that all his darkness is gone because in the end she’s his light?  All he has to do is prove her right, how hard can it be!

I loved every second of this book.  I loved their banter, I loved their sex, I loved their love.  There was a kindness to it, there was a innocence to it, there was a forever to it.

Well done, totally well done!

“Does this mean what I think it means?”
My head shakes on his chest when he laughs. I look up at him and flick his nose.
“Yeah, princess. Go find it.”
I bite the inside of my cheek then press a hard kiss to his lips, hop off the couch, and run to grab my laptop. Once I have it, I sit at the kitchen table and power it on, tapping my fingers anxiously. Liam stands behind me and places his hands on my shoulders, gently rubbing them, his thumbs kneading into my back. My head falls forward for a moment, and I let him take my stress away.
Too excited to wait any longer, I roll my head back up and type in the address bar. Once I scroll through the website and see one that stands out, I point at it. “You like it?”
“I don’t care. I already told you this.”
“Liam, it’s a house, not a shirt. You have to have an opinion.”
“My opinion is that I don’t care what the house looks like as long as you’re in it.”
God, I love this man. He always said that we’d buy a house when he finished with his tour. In my mind, I was prepared to wait, so there was no way I could contain my excitement that I get to start house hunting now. I’ve always had this vision of what I want my house to look like.
“Give me something. Anything. Please, Lee. I want you to like it, too.”
“All right.” He kisses the top of my head and sits next to me. “I want privacy. If there’s not a fence already, I’ll build one, and I want some land. I don’t want the neighbors to be able to look over and see me fucking you.”
“Ha-ha.”
“Think I’m joking?” The screeching of the metal chair legs pierces my ears when he turns it so my body is in front of his. He grips my upper arms, looking right at me to make sure I see him, too. “I’ve gone seven years not being able to have you whenever I want you. Seven horrific years of fucking my own hand almost daily when I only got to be inside you every three or four months. Do you have any idea how much I want you? Constantly.” He answers without giving me a chance to speak as his fingers tighten on my arms. “You are always on my mind. Your face. Your smile. Your smartass mouth. Your body. And just thinking about you constantly makes me hard. Can you imagine how it’s going to be living together, waking up next to each other, and sleeping in the same bed every night?”
I squirm in my chair, wetness quickly dampening my underwear. He trails a couple of fingers down my arm and grabs my wrist then places my hand on his rock hard dick. With his hand on top of mine, he squeezes.
“It’s always like this for you. Only you. Doesn’t matter how many whores or groupies walk around backstage half naked. You’re the only one who can ever do this to me. Always have been and always will be. And if I know I get to come home and touch you, love you, fuck you every day for the rest of my life … Princess, it doesn’t matter where it is or what it looks like as long as you’re there.”

My hand shook as I pulled the box into my lap, preparing myself for what may lay hidden within. I felt nervous and sick with anticipation. I suddenly wanted to flee, but where would I go? And how would I get there? Moving my leg took more concentration than I was willing to admit and I was still attached to what looked to be a hundred monitoring devices. The box stared back at me, waiting...wondering when I would crack its lip and finally divulge the secrets it had been keeping for so long. What if I didn't like what I found? What if I did? Taking a deep breath, I placed my hand on the lip and pulled, knowing there was only one way to find out. All neatly arranged inside, I found clothes, a wallet and a scattering of other personal belongings. I immediately went for the wallet, knowing it would hold the most information. Everything else forgotten, my fingers traced the smooth edges of the soft leather as I bent it open. There staring back at me was a picture of my own face. Because of the mirror across the room near the sink, I'd managed to catch a glimpse of my reflection a time or two since awaking here hours earlier. The man looking up at me on the California driver’s license photo was a stark contrast to the person I was today. Cold empty green eyes looked through me, as if the world and everything in it were beneath him. With a crisp white shirt and flawless green tie and jacket, there was no smile permeating through the lens--not even a hint of emotion was showing. My now long, unkempt hair had been trimmed short and neat, matching the impeccable persona that could be seen even through the tiny picture. My attention turned towards the address. 1023 Sea Cliff Lane, San Francisco. I looked out the window, trying to see if anything beyond its paned glass brought back any hints or memories of a life I once led. San Francisco. Even though the driver’s license confirmed what the nurse had already told me, I still felt no connection with the city below. Nothing called out to me, nothing held my attention. Was there anyone down there that would remember my name? I dug further through the wallet, finding a couple hundred dollars in cash, as well as several credit cards and a few membership cards to places I'd never heard of, but apparently belonged to. Or had belonged to. What happened to your life when you went into a coma? Did you disappear? Cease to exist or did life carry on? I looked at the address on my driver’s license and wondered if I still had a home...a bank account? I wasn't dead, but who had been paying my bills for the last two? Did I have money to pay the bills? Fuck. Suddenly, all I wanted was to slip back into that coma and never wake up again. And then I saw her. It was just a glimpse at first, the edge of a picture sticking out from inside the wallet--a wisp of hair that had me pulling at it to see it properly. With the golden gate bridge as our backdrop, a much younger, carefree version of myself held a girl in my arms and suddenly the world didn't feel so lonely anymore. Copper red hair tumbled down her back like a fiery mane. Her bright blue eyes sparkled as if she held untold secrets waiting to be revealed. In my own eyes, I didn't see harshness or the rigid void of nothing. I saw her, reflecting back in spades, the love radiating between us. I flipped the photo over, hoping for something...anything that would tell me who this girl was. There was nothing but a date and a name. August and Everly - 2005 Everly. She had a name. Now all I had to do was find her.
