Ben Rosenberg just wants to hang out with his buddy Andy and enjoy his beer. Only a group of A-holes from his high school years isn't going to let that happen. You can only let so much go and then it's literally...BAM!

It's Madison Hart's 25th birthday. She lives with her over protective family-her brother and dad are both over the top cops. She works in a library, and ...she's never had sex. Her birthday wish-to make this next year more exciting than the last twenty five years. She gets more than she bargained for when a gun welding bad guy tries to hurt her. This book toyed with my emotions, pulled on my heart strings and left me with a major book hangover. From the moment I read the prologue and did not want to put this book down. I was captured and sucked in from the very start. There is angst, heartache, and a lot of raw and intense moments. And it was fantastic, flawlessly written and heartbreakingly beautiful and I cannot wait for more.

Lilah and jimmy have been best friends since they were kids. They grew up dirt poor in a small town in the mountains. They had a childhood that no one would ever wish for. They have demons that will haunt them for a long time. They did things that they are not proud of but had to in order to survive.

Lilah and jimmy made it out of that small town and jimmy is now a big up and coming movie star while Lilah is a model. Those demons I mentioned, well let’s just say that they both handle them differently. Maybe Jimmy is able to keep them in the past while Lilah deals with them in another way. A way that causes Jimmy to constantly clean up her messes and in the process she is hurting the one person who this world who loves her and who means the most to her. Will they get to a point where Jimmy says enough is enough? And if so what will that mean for their relationship? It’s not way to walk away from the one person you have loved your whole life. But sometimes it’s her to stay.

Did I make you think? Was I a little vague? Of course I was. I don’t want to give anything away. Go in completely blind and hang on for the ride.

This books deals with delicate topics and was written in a way that was honest. It depicts so much, the raw emotions, the hurt, the intensity, the high and lows and the pain. Lilah and Jimmy have a very intense relationship. they depend on each other, love each other, have an undeniable chemistry, but what they have can be very dark at times. there is no doubt in my mind that one they are both able to truly put the past behind them and fight their demons that they will be perfect together. I am rooting for them. I already feel that no matter what they have been through together, no matter how much pain and hurt they have experienced, these two love each other with everything they have. Is it enough? I will patiently waiting for book two to find out.

Coming face-to-face with my past changes EVERYTHING.

I’m at the top of my game. All my struggles have finally paid off. Life should be great.

I mean, life is great.

Except for the fact that I can’t stop thinking of her. The woman who mangled my heart into a bloody pulp and never looked back.

If I could free myself of our shared memories, my future would be golden.

There’s only one way to move on—I have to confront the past, so I can move into the next chapter of my life in peace. Which means confronting her for the final time.

I had no idea that knocking on her door that day would turn my life upside down.

Heather Chadwick rents out the boathouse on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. Her mom has clinical depression and making a living for the family falls on Heather's shoulders. Her dad took off years ago and her mom's illness ramped up a few years ago after her sister, Opal, killed herself.

Heather had dreams of going to nursing school, but life has a way of changing the path we think we are going to travel.

It was just my mother and me at home now, and Mom didn't work, so the income from the boathouse was a necessity to keep up with our bills.

For the first time their renter reserved the whole summer, not just a few weeks.

I didn't know much about him-Noah Cavallari from Pennsylvania with a Visa card and a clear record.

Heather is more than a little gobsmacked when she first lays eyes on Noah.

He might have been a little old for me, but that didn't stop my entire body from buzzing as I took him in. His age-his maturity-was a major turn on. My reaction to this man was both exhilarating and terrifying all at once.

Noah is a little more reserved than Heather when it comes to his reactions to her. But that's not to say he's immune to this too young for him cutie.

"I will not be asking you out, propositioning you, or going anywhere near you, for that matter. We clear on that?"

Ouch.

But come on, you know he isn't going to keep his distance for long. He offers to some repairs around the place, he has a lot of time on his hands and too much of it is spent inside his own head. The more time they are together the more it's obvious that there is something there, but he is only here for the summer.

"I just wish you didn't see me as a charity case."

Noah is equally confused about Heather's feelings for him.

"A lot has changed between us, and I don't know how to handle it."

But this is a Penelope Ward book...so you know that just when you think it's safe....the other shoe is gonna drop. There are more shoes dropping in this story than I have in my closet. (well, maybe almost as many, I do love shoes!)

My heart stayed intact for this one, Ms. Ward has upon occasion split that organ right down the middle. I had pangs and a few times I had to hold my breath while I furiously turned the pages to get through the bad stuff, but I survived. Sometimes I feel like I should have some witty saying put on a
T-shirt after reading one of this author's books-"I Survived Another Penelope Ward Reading Roller Coaster..barely."

"Maybe things don't always gave to be by the book. Maybe we need to go by what feels right."
