Blog Tour: Baby Daddy by Kendall Ryan

A hot and hilarious new standalone from New York Times bestseller Kendall Ryan.

We met in a trapped elevator.

Emmett was on his way to work, sophisticated and handsome in his tailored suit and tie.

I was on my way to the sperm bank. Awkward, right?

At thirty-five, my life hadn’t taken the path I thought it would and I was tired of waiting—I wanted a baby. And I was ready to take matters into my own hands to make it happen.

After our ill-fated elevator encounter, Emmett insisted on taking me to dinner—he also insisted on something else—that I ditch my plan involving a turkey baster and let him do the job. He would be my baby daddy. He was a wealthy and powerful CEO with little interest in diapers or playdates. And since he didn’t want kids, I’d be on my own once his bun was in my oven, free to go my own way.

But once his baby was inside me, it was like a switch had been flipped, and I got a whole lot more than I ever bargained for.

This full-length standalone contains a hot, swoonworthy hero, lots of playful banter and some hot baby-making ! Enjoy.

Review by Lisa Kane

Jenna is on her way to the fertility clinic. She's one step closer to her achieving her dream-the one that includes a baby. She can't keep waiting for Mr. Right when she's too busy even to meet Mr. Wrong. But the elevator that she's in-the one that's going to whisk her up to the floor where her dream can begin, well it gets stuck. Right after Mr. Hotness gets on.

Just before the doors close, a large, strong-looking hand shoves between them and they retreat. A man in a crisp navy suit and a white shirt steps inside-and damn, what a man.

Gorgeous guy knows she's eyeing him up. He's even smirking about it. Emmett is young, rich and a workaholic. The only time he really stops working is when he's bedding some beautiful woman who he'll bed and then ditch. Sex is his way of blowing off steam. It's practically a necessity.

I love my dick.
That's a fact.

When two people are stuck in an elevator, it's amazing how that small space somehow leads to revelations. Deepest desires are revealed. Emmett knows this building well. He knows what clinic is on the floor Jenna pressed. When he starts questioning her, it's not long before she tells him her plan to have a baby. Without a man. Just with a man's sperm. End of story.

It's almost like the universe is laughing at me. Mocking my decision to give up on finding a partner to plant his seed in my garden of love.

Only it's not the end of their story. Things are gonna get real interesting. Emmett is a no committal kind of guy. But when his sperm meets Jenna's egg-well maybe he's not as uninterested as he thought.

It's becoming harder to convince myself that I'm still that same non-father-material person who met her in the elevator a couple of months ago.

Emmett has baggage. Lots of baggage. But does he have to commit his life to all work and no love? Do the sins of the father always have to haunt the son? Is Jenna more than just the baby mama?

"There are not guarantees in life. If you're afraid to try, you'll miss all the good stuff."

Genre: Contemporary Romance
OLT_FrontCover
From New York Times bestselling author, Corinne Michaels, comes a new heartwarming standalone romance.
I’m getting really good at cutting my losses.
First, the husband. Divorcing him was the best decision I ever made. But between single-parenting and job-hunting, I can’t catch my breath. When a celebrity blogging position falls into my lap, I’m determined to succeed.
That is, until I get my first assignment and actually see Noah Frazier for the first time . . . practically naked and dripping wet. My heart races and I forget how to form complete sentences. His chiseled abs, irresistible smirk, and crystal blue eyes are too perfect to be real. So, what do I do? Get drunk and humiliate myself, of course.
I’m ready to forget the awkward night, yet Noah has no intention of allowing me to move on. Instead, he arranges for me to write a feature on him, ensuring a lot more time together. One embarrassing moment after another, one kiss after another, and before I can stop myself, I realize—I’m falling in love with him.
But when the unthinkable happens, can I even blame him for cutting his losses?
What I wouldn’t give for just one last time . . .
OLT-AN-1

Excerpt:
Before I can make a move either way, the glass door slides open and Noah walks through the threshold.
My legs start to quiver as his eyes meet mine. All I can think about is how I’d like to climb him like a tree and shake his coconuts. I thought he was hot in the photo, then he was better through the window, but up close, he’s otherworldly.
“Hi.” Noah’s throaty voice floats around me. “You must be Kristin.”
Instead of speaking, I stand here with my mouth hanging open. Some small sounds that could be words escape, but they aren’t coherent.
Kill me now.
“Noah, this is my best friend, Kristin. Who we told you about.” Heather elbows me.
“Yes. Me. Hi. Kristin. I. You. Hi.”
Smooth. Someone should video this because I’m sure it’s highly entertaining.
“Right.” Noah flashes a blinding smile. “I hear you’re a reporter?”
Okay, Kristin, you have to speak in more than one-word increments or grunting noises.
I grab Heather’s glass she just poured and hope it’ll act as a talisman. “Yes, for a small blog, but I’m that. A reporter. For a blog. I write.”
And a bumbling idiot.
Noah’s green eyes are filled with humor. He moves a little closer and places his hand on top of mine. “Eli filled me in a little. I’m happy I came.”
I’m pretty sure I just came. At least we’re all coming.
“Me, too.”
His lips turn up as his eyes rake my body. “See you out there.” He winks and walks back out.
My ovaries have officially disintegrated.
I turn back to Heather, who bursts out into a fit of laughter. “Oh, that was epic. You all said I was starstruck when I met Eli? You should’ve seen that!” Heather continues to laugh at my expense. “Yes. Me. Um. Blog. Er—” She mocks.
“Shut up.” I laugh—because, really, what else can I do—and bump her hip before moving around the bar and grabbing a glass. “Now, pour me a shot before I drink straight from the bottle.”
There’s only one way to get through tonight.
Alcohol.
Lots of Alcohol.

Review by Jen Skewes

Breathe You is the one book that I have been waiting for.  After Ms. Grande left us with a cliffhanger and a hole in our hearts I needed to know how it would end.  Would she put my heart back together again. I can say that she did but it took time and certainly did not happen over night.

Breathe You started with a prologue that will destroy your heart.  It was raw and what a way to start a book.  But then it picks up exactly where Live Me left off, with both characters left with a broken heart.  After Eva’s attack she has once again pushed Blake away and ran.  She does not want him to have to deal with her baggage and her hurt and pain.  But she also doesn’t believe that she is worthy of his love.  Blake is left with his heart completely obliterated.  He loved Eva with everything that he has but he is not sure that is enough.  How many times can one man’s heart be broken?  Is it time for him to move on?  Will they get their second chance at love?

I could not wait for this book.  The prologue sucked me in but then unfortunately for me the beginning of this book moved a little too slow.  I felt that not much happened in the beginning, it was a push and pull between Blake and Eva, with her realizing she needs Blake only for something to happen and her running away yet again.  But at one point this story did pick up and from that moment I did not want to put this one down.  Eva realizes her worth and fights for love.  And the way she fought is what completely captured me.  She had me one hundred percent.  It was also the moment for me that life was brought back into this story.

Blake is still that man that you fell in love with in Live Me.  He loves and adores his Angel but at the same time he is just broken.  My heart ached for this man and how much pain he was in.   Eva broke his heart more than once and I thought how many times can this man go through this.  But Eva had so many of her own issues.  With a wall up and not letting anyone in, this poor girl was carrying so much pain around, all on her own.  I waited for the moment that she would let it all out, to be able to tell someone her secret, to finally breathe again.

I loved how Blake and Eva came back together again, and how much you could feel their love.  They had such passion and love when it came to each other and I loved how much you could still feel it, even if they weren't together.  I loved the end and how it all came together.  There was anew character in the mix, who a first I wasn’t so sure about but in the end like him and the role he played.  I do hope that we get to see more of these characters.  there are a few of them who I think have their own story to tell.  I am looking forward to seeing what Celeste Grande has in store for us next.

Contemporary Romance| Second Chance Romance

Smoke and Mirrors is the third standalone in the City Limits series. It features a new couple navigating their second-chance romance. Enjoy this love story between a fireman who has returned home from the military and the single mom he left down the street. Welcome to Wynne.

Blurb

My best laid plans had backfired. I’d thought by putting miles between myself and my first love that she’d be free to live whatever life she’d wanted, but when I came back from serving my country and Faith was raising her little girl alone, it was time to make new plans.

In eight years, not a single day had passed when she wasn’t on my mind, and not a night went by when I didn’t miss her. She was fierce and stunning and didn’t need a man in her life, but when the time came—and she wanted one—the line would start behind me.
Like smoke, I’d let her slip through my fingers once, but I’d never forgive the man in the mirror if I let it happen again. She was the fire inside me that would never burn out.

Aaron Goodman is a good guy. He left town years ago for the Air Force is back. He’s been back for the last four years. He makes a decent living as a fire fighter; he does odd jobs for just about the whole town and...he regrets every day how he left the love of his life behind.

Faith Simpson has a hard life. She’s a single parent to her four-year-old daughter, Delaney. Delaney’s father took off when she was born and Faith hasn’t seen him since. But he sends his support payment every month and that’s all she needs from him. Faith works at the family diner and then tends bar at night. Any available moment she can, she spends with her daughter.

Living in a small town means Aaron and Faith run into each other all the time. Well, Aaron may conjure up reasons to see Faith. The diner and the bar are part of his stomping grounds. He just sits there quietly, watching, hoping that Faith will say more than a few words to him.

It’s surprising what little human contact a man can survive on. For four years, I’d had less than none. Actually, none would have been better; I had a deficit.

The way Faith sees it, she didn’t wait for Aaron like she said she would. She’s got more baggage than she thinks any man would want.

Every once in a while, I’d fool myself into thinking something was still there between us.
A dim spark.
A phantom sensation.
A faded hope.

It’s hard not to get frustrated with these two. Both have made mistakes and yet they are both willing to move past them. Of course, they would first have to admit that they wanted each other back, and that just hasn’t happened.

Faith thinks Aaron would be settling if they got back together.

I wouldn’t be someone’s option.
Someone’s maybe someday.

Don’t be thinking that if they just broke down and admitted their feelings that things are going to smoothly fall into place.

Surprise! And not such a pleasant surprise after all.

What else had he lied about? Had it all been smoke and mirrors? What was real?

Smoke and Mirrors may just be my favorite of this series. I loved the characters, even if they drove me nuts!

“I didn’t wait for you, Aaron.”
His brows rose. “But I can wait for you.”

All is lost.
All.
I don't recognize myself in the mirror anymore.
My thoughts are filled with hatred and dripping with rage.
I've lost my soul.
She took it to the depths of Hell with her and haunts me with images of what could have been.
Sixty lives are mine to take.
Sixty lives stand in the way of my vengeance.
Sixty lives plus one more.
Mine.
When the last drop of blood falls — mine will be spilled.
Only one person stands in the way.
She doesn't realize I'll kill her too.
I don't own a heart.
And even if I did — I wouldn't fall prey to its lies again.
I am Chase Abandonato.
Heir to a legacy of betrayal.
And I will kill them all.
Even if it means pointing the gun at myself.
A life for a life.
A soul for a soul.
Now I lay me down to sleep… I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
Blood in. No out.

Review by Lisa Kane

Rachel Van Dyken killed me with the ending of Enrage. You think you know your characters, and yet she managed to turn my whole Eagle Elite world upside down. Chase Abandonato is a broken man, intent on raining hell on anyone he perceives to be an enemy of the Abandonato family. He is out of control.

Nixon is still very much in control of the family and there are so many players from the previous books I had to go back and read the blurb for each of the books in the series. Although there is a little synopsis of the characters, at times I was confused as to who killed who, and who wanted to kill who....

Things are about to get sticky with the family and the government. While Chase is spiraling enemies that know too much thanks to Mil are sabotaging the business.

"Apparently, I only kiss girls that belong to someone else and ones who betray me."

Ouch...

Nixon is struggling to hold it all together. Mostly he is struggling to get through to Chase, but he is only interested in a full bottle.

"I have to believe that we've been brought to this point, not to just collapse from within, but to grow, to become greater than before."

Enter Luciana Smith. She's offered the job of being Chase's lawyer. The perks for the job are over the top. She could help her adoptive parents to live a comfortable life.

It was life-changing money.
It would give them back what they'd given me.

Little does she know that she is going to work for Satan.

I'd thought I'd loved her. Our love had been a lie.

So now the stage is set for Eulogy. Chase's heart is encased in ice. Luciana is scared of her own shadow half the time. How could she ever take on a monster like Chase?

This is a mob story. Expect gore and violence and lots of body bags. But then you wouldn't be on book 9 of the series if you didn't live for the rush that these stories bring to your Kindle.

I haven't been able to get Chase's character out of my mind since Ms. Van Dyken decimated his soul. But I can rest easy again.

It was everything the universe knew I would die for, fight for, continue to kill for, and it was mine. All. Mine.

BLOOD. BLOOD. BLOOD.
It covered my hands.
It surged through my heart.
It dripped from my fingertips onto the concrete floor.
Trapped.
Broken.
Finished.
Hungry.
Insanity scratched its way into my psyche as I eyed the door and waited. One heartbeat, two heartbeats, three…
It opened.
I fired two rounds, and acrid smoke filled the air.
I thought I knew what love was. I was a fucking idiot. Every single bone in my body shuddered with rage, with the need to rip something apart, someone, anyone —all of them. My friends. My brothers. I brought the war to our house, and they would finish me because of it.
I’d thought I loved her.
Our love had been a lie.
Her betrayal my only truth.
And now?
Now, I finally knew what love was. I’d seen it, smelled it, tasted it.
And lost it.
I’d fucking lost it.
They would pay. They would all pay.
For taking her.
For turning her against me.
For making me believe that blood was everything, only after mine was spilled.

My life was what country songs are made of: my Granny died, my girlfriend broke up with me, I knocked up her cousin, and I was inducted into the Major League Hall of Fame. Yup…just like every country song I’ve ever heard.
But let me start over…
My name is Gage Nix. That’s all you need to know.
Actually, there’s a lot more to Gage than meets the eye. My name’s Katie Crisp, and I had a front row seat and the inside scoop.
In a moment of grief and desperation, I allowed the Home Run King to…well, hit a home run on my diamond. He not only knocked it out of the park, but he also knocked me up.
Raising two babies—the one I was carrying, and Gage—wasn’t what I signed up for. But he gave me no choice. I only wish I hadn’t waited until the end of the season to see that he was my MVP.
Oh, and the only hall of fame he’s ever been inducted into is his own.

Review by Jen Skewes

Stella (AKA the writing team of Leddy Harper and Stephie Walls) has done it again.  I loved Third Base and after reading it, I not only wanted more of Ellie and Coby but I wanted more of Gage Nix.  That man deserved his own book.

Gage Nix just recently lost his Granny, the one person who was his everything.  If that wasn’t enough his girlfriend left him.  Katie Crisp is the nurse that Gage hired to take care of his Granny.  Katie was not a big fan of Gage’s but they both had one thing in common and that was Granny.  She meant the world to the both of them.  They were both grieving and one night found comfort in each other.  But that night connected them in a way they never expected, because Katie is now pregnant.  With Granny’s passing she is left with no money and no job.  As far as Gage goes, well Gage Nix is going to be a father.  Let that one sink it a bit.

Gage is excited to become a father even if it is something that he has never considered.  They may not get along well, but Gage is determined to be there for his “baby mama” and his unborn child as much as he can.  His solution is to move in with them at his Granny’s house.  Neither one of them knew how this whole thing would work but as they begin to spend more time together and Katie starts to see the Gage that very rarely comes out, things between them change.  Katie has secrets.  Gage is afraid of getting close to someone, only to lose them again.  Will they be able to take the next step and be together?

I loved this book.  Gage Nix is a sexy ball player whose crazy antics is part of what I loved about him.  The words that came out of that man’s mouth just made me laugh.  He may have had a reputation but when you get to know the real Gage you see that he has a heart of gold.  He truly wanted to be there for Katie, and to take care of his child.  He was loyal and kind and just an all around amazing.  He friendship with his BFF Rinny was the cutest friendship I have every seen.  They were adorable together.  Only Gage Nix could be best friends with a three year old.

I adored Katie.  She was the one girl who could handle him.  She saw parts of Gage that the rest of the world did not get to see.  I loved that regardless of the fact that her baby daddy was a professional ball player she never wanted to depend on him.  These two were perfect for each other. She accepted him and all his craziness.  She was able to see past that part of him and see the loving man who wanted to take care of her and their child.

I loved this book!!  I could not wait for Gage’s story and Stella did no disappoint. I love both Ms. Harper and Ms. Walls separately but together they are an amazing writing team.  I look forward to more from them in the future.  The humor, the wit, the right amount of drama has me from beginning to end.  I laughed with these characters but also felt for them at times.  It wasn’t all just fun and games, there were emotions involved as well.  It was the perfect blend.  Another great job by this duo!!
