A Gentleman for Christmas by Prescott Lane
Release Date: November 26th
A Gentleman for Christmas, an all-new standalone contemporary romance by Prescott Lane.
Some say “chivalry is dead.”
I don’t think so. Most women I know like a gentleman.
Protective, opens doors, treats women with respect, typically follows the rules.
But a gentleman doesn’t fall for his best friend’s woman. Current or ex.
And that’s what I’ve done.
During the Christmas season of all times — that magical time for decorations, gifts, family . . .
Yes, the girl who was off-limits for so long, who I’ve loved all my life, has come back in town and possibly back to me.
I can’t follow the gentleman rules this time. There’s too much at stake. I let her go once. I won’t let her go again.
What happens under the mistletoe, stays under the mistletoe.
Or does it?

Review by Jen Skewes

I loved this book.  It is a quick read about friends to lovers the has just he right amount of drama and a lot of swoon worthy moments.  Jax and Skylar were best friends growing up until he broke her heart.  Then things between them became a little distant.  While they still remained friends they weren't as close as they once were.  But that may all change very soon.
Jax writes the Rules for a Gentleman and has made career out of it.  While he preaches the rules to many people through his books and seminars, when it really comes to love it turns out, he may not be the expert that he is believed to be.  Honestly his love life I is non-existent.  The one girl that he has ever loved it off limits.  He mess up years ago and lost that change.  Or has he?  When Skylar breaks yup with her boyfriend Luke, who is also one of Jax's best friend, will he get the chance to finally get the girl, even if in means breaking all of the rules?

I loved Jax and Skylar together, both as friends and more.  You could see in the way they speak about each other, the memories they share and the chemistry between them, that they are meant to be together.  /Yes in order to be together, they would be breaking some major rules, and it may have been a little crappy how they went about things, but bottom line is that they made each other happy and you could feel the love and passion between them.  Everything happens for a reason and Skylar being back in Jax's life was enough reason for me.

Prescott Lane did a great job with this little gem.  It was a short read but packed so much.  There was a little bit of drama and for a short story Ms. Lane managed to add so mu h to this story.  It made me feel all the feels and fall in love with the characters.  Loved it!!

Excerpt:
“Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife.”
Otherwise known as the original bros before hoes commandment.
I’m not advocating calling women hoes. It’s an expression, so put away your Encyclopedia of Political Correctness.
There are rules in life. The Ten Commandments were just the beginning. We have rules for everything. How to drive. How to dress. How to walk across the damn street. So why not rules for love? That’s how all this started — a set of rules between my buddies and me.
The Bro Code.
Obviously, bros before hoes is rule one. We vowed never to let a girl come between us, which meant if one of us liked a girl, she was forever off limits.
Little did I know our teenage pact would launch my multi-million dollar career. A little tweaking here and some socially acceptable rewording there and The Gentleman’s Handbook was born.
I’ve written books and given seminars on everything from how to find love, to how to propose, to how to have a successful long-distance relationship. You name it, and I’ve got rules for it. Personally, I’ve never been much of a rule follower, but that’s my little secret.
The funny thing is I’ve never been in love. Well, there is this one girl, but we won’t talk about her. It does no good to think about someone you can’t have and never will.
My lack of emotional commitment hasn’t slowed down my career one bit. Currently, I have two books on the New York Times Best Sellers List. My seminars sell out like a Drake concert.
I always find it interesting that the rules started between a group of male friends, but it’s mostly women that come to hear me speak. Occasionally, you see the poor sap boyfriend who was dragged along to listen, but for the most part it’s all women.
This time of the year is no exception. December first until January first is important for guys. Holidays are big for a lot of couples. If you don’t know what you’re doing for your lady, you better figure it out and fast. In fact, my rule is that you should be paying attention all year long.
Trust me on this. If you remember something she mentioned she liked three months ago and surprise her with it at Christmas, she’ll spread her legs before Santa even has time to slide down the chimney. Let’s be honest, that is always at least part of the goal for guys.
So my current work in progress tackles Christmas. A how-to guide for the holidays.
The Gentleman’s Rules for Christmas.

Excerpt

The thought
of Jaime moving to Los Angeles both unnerved and thrilled me. “Won’t you be
lonely living all the way out here in a big house all by yourself?”
He remained
silent for a long time, staring out to the Pacific. Then, without warning, he
spun me around so that we were face-to-face, just a breath apart. He lifted his
sunglasses on top of his head, and his eyes, the color of the late afternoon
sea, gazed deep into mine. My heart hammered as he tipped up my chin.
“I don’t
plan on living here alone. I’m tired of living in a hotel where people come and
go. I’m looking for someone special to share my life with…and I may have found
her.”
My heart
pounded. My voice abandoned me. Words were trapped in my throat.
“Gloria,
I’ve never had a relationship before. I’ve fucked a lot of women, but none of
them has meant a thing to me. They’re just mindless, faceless fucks. You’re
different, angel. I can never get your face out of my head. When I’m away from
you, all I want is to be with you. And when I’m with you, I can’t get enough of
you. I want to breathe the air you breathe and kiss the ground you walk on. I
want to go to sleep with you in my arms and wake up to you on my chest. And I
want to fuck you every way I know how. Make you fall apart and then put you
back together. Over and over. There will never be enough ways to show you how I
feel about you. Or words to tell you.”
He paused
and inhaled deeply. My blood was ringing in my ears as he exhaled and softly
said, “Gloria, you make me fall apart too.”
This was
all too much for me. My emotions were in turmoil, and my mind was in meltdown.
I gripped his shoulders before my knees gave out. Tears were forming in my
eyes… and at last words. “Jaime, are you saying you want a real relationship
with me?” You love me?
He
nervously played with my braid. “Yeah, angel, that’s what I’m trying to say. I
guess it’s not my best pitch. I don’t do relationships well.”
I quirked a
little smile. “Neither do I.”
He looked straight
into my eyes. “Do you want to give it a try?”
My fingers
toyed with his toi et moi ring. “An official you and me?”
“Yeah…Well?”
My mind was
spinning and my heart was thudding. Jesus Christ. Was I ready for a
relationship with this beautiful, romantic, sexy god? Could I handle it? The
timing couldn’t be worse with the stock crisis and my job at stake. It might
work. It might not. And there was still the long distance factor to deal with.
Skyping sex did not make for a relationship. Was I just setting myself up to
get hurt? He had a fucked a lot of women. And I was just one of them. I mean,
he hadn’t said he loved me. And hell, I’d only known him for a little over a
week though it felt like a lifetime.
Jaime’s
sultry voice brought my mental ramblings to a halt. He tugged on my braid.
“Come on, angel. The suspense is fucking killing me.”
If only I
could consult Madame Paulette. I pondered—what would she say? Her husky voice
sounded in my head. “Ma chérie, no risque no gain…It eez
better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.” Her last words
to me whirled around my head. Come on, who was I fooling? I was madly in love
with this man. I wanted him more than he wanted me. I had to take a chance,
regardless of the consequences.
“Yes,” I
finally breathed. “But there’s got to be rules. Like—”
Cupping my
face, he cut me off. “Gloria, there’s only one rule. Don’t ever leave me. The
rest are meant to be broken.” On the loud crash of a wave, his lips crashed
onto mine. Every part of me melted into him as he wrapped me in his arms and
claimed my mouth with his. Oh, the power of a kiss! The power of this man!
Nothing else existed. Our tongues twirled and swirled, dancing in unison to the
music of the sea. His hard body pressed into mine, arousing every erotic fiber
of my being.

Review by Jen Skewes

I could not wait to read Wild Collision mainly because it meant getting to read Micalea Smeltzer’s words. But then I realized that this was the first book in the Willow Creek spinoff series and I was even more excited. This is the first of the series about the kids of Willow Creek.

Mia Hayes is all grown up and busy going to school, work and helping out in her father’s recording studio. Life for her is good.  She has the perfect best friend and she basically works and goes to school. Seems boring but for Mia, boring is good. Then she meets the lead singer of the new band her father has just signed, and he completely turns her world upside down and certainly changes it from boring to very exciting.

Hollis and his band have been discovered by Josh Hayes, member of Willow Creek, a band that has made it big and their idols.  Hollis is everything you would expect an up and coming rock star to be.  He is cocky, arrogant, hot and a man whore.  When he meets Mia, he is warned that she is completely off limits.  But there is something about the red-haired beauty and he finds himself wanting to spend time with her.  Yes, when he first met her it was all about sex, but he realizes quickly that one night will never be enough with her.  He doesn’t give up no matter how many times she tells him that it won’t work. He knows she feels it too and he is determined to make her see how good they can be together. While Mia can admit to her feelings for Hollis, the issue is he father.  And trust me that is a very big issue.   They want to be together, but both know that Hayes will not approve. So how do they make it work?  And most importantly how do they tell Mia’s father?

I really enjoyed this book and loved the characters, all of them.  Mia and Hollis were really cute and sexy together.  The banter between them will make you smile, and the intimate moments will make you hot.   I swear I think Micalea took this one to the next level where the sexiness is concerned. Hollis’ bandmates wee fantastic and made me want more. I cannot wait to read each of their books.  They each had their own personality and I loved it.

While I did enjoy this book very much it was also missing a little something.  I think I wanted more emotional moments between Hollis and Mia and less of the sexy moments.  I felt the chemistry and physical attraction between them but wanted more of the emotional connection.  This was a great start to a new series.  The characters will make you laugh.  It is a fun, sexy read with just the right amount of drama.  I cannot wait for the next one.

Excerpt
He closes the distance between us swiftly, grabbing my face roughly between his hands. He kisses me quickly, desperately. It’s a bruising kind of kiss. One that leaves a path of flames in its wake.

He lets me go and steps away. “I had to kiss you before I couldn’t for the rest of the evening,” he admits.

I touch my lips where they still tingle from his.

He flashes a cocky smile, pleased with himself for rendering me speechless.

“I know I’m a good kisser, but I didn’t know it was possible to stun you into silence. I’m impressed with myself.”

I snap out of my revelry. “I hope you go home and write about it in your diary.”

“Oh, I will.” He smirks.

“Is it pink and sparkly?”

“Of course—I even hot glued my name in sequins on it and the first page is marked with Future Mr. Mia Hayes.”

Buried by Brenda Rothert

Book Blurb:

Do you believe in fate?

I didn’t. I’d worked since childhood to become an NFL starting quarterback. All the blood, sweat, and tears were about to pay off with my name in the record books. Setting an NFL record was going to be the crowning achievement of my career. Hell, of my life.

But then fate, the cagey bitch, threw me a curveball I never saw coming. I ended up trapped in a doomsday bunker with four strangers, my chances at that record slipping away as days turned into months.

I never would’ve given Erin a second look. She was gorgeous, sure, but not my type. I liked women who were strong. Fearless. Resilient. Not to mention that she hated me.

But I was so wrong about her. And in that bunker, I fell in crazy, stupid love.

I thought a record would be my greatest triumph. But now, all I want is a shot with Erin. I’ve faced down massive linebackers intent on ending me. For her, I’ll go toe-to-toe with fate.

Excerpt:

I sigh softly, willing my heart to stop jackhammering in my chest, and walk over to the large, opened steel door in the ground.
Kenna white knuckles the black steel ladder that leads straight down, scrambling to get her heels situated. I wonder again why she’s wearing a business suit and heels out here.
“Do you work here?” I ask her.
She gives me a sharp look. “I’m Derek’s personal assistant.”
“Oh, got it. And he must be the football player who owns the place?”
Kenna gawks at me in disbelief. “You don’t know who Derek Heaton is?”
I shrug. “Isn’t he a football player?”
“He’s the best quarterback in the league. Also the highest paid.”
“Huh. Well, good for him,” I say dismissively.
Kenna shrieks as one of her feet slips on the metal ladder.
“You okay?” I ask her.
“I’m fine.”
I peer down into the dark hole, trying to think about anything other than going down there. Even after years of therapy, the panic is so strong I want to run away.
Just make it about the groceries, I tell myself. Think about getting the delivery where it needs to go as quickly as possible. You can do this.
I take a deep breath and then follow Kenna down the ladder. I start sweating immediately as my self-preservation instincts kick in. But I ignore it, descending the ladder to a small landing and then taking a staircase the rest of the way down.
For a moment, my fear is forgotten. The bunker is nothing like I was expecting. It’s open and expansive, the kitchen done with stainless appliances and warm wood cabinets. The floors are also wood, and there’s a large leather sectional in a living area.
“This way,” Kenna says, motioning impatiently from in front of a doorway.
I tear myself away from looking at the rich, slightly rustic décor and join her in a large white room. Fluorescent lights glow overhead, illuminating walls lined with shelves. About half the shelves are filled with supplies ranging from toilet paper to giant containers of tapioca pudding.
“Right here,” Kenna says, grabbing a clipboard and glancing down at it.
She stands in front of an empty section of shelves. I wait a couple seconds as she reads something on her list, but then I can’t take it anymore. I refuse to be down here for one minute longer than I have to.
“I’ll go get my first load,” I say, turning.
“I need it shelved in groups,” she says as I depart the room. “Keep all the peanut butter together, all the trail mix together, and so on. And make sure you fill the entire shelf all the way to the back.”
“Okay,” I call over my shoulder.
I hear male voices from somewhere in the bunker, but I ignore them, practically sprinting to the stairs out of this death trap hole in the ground.
When I get to the truck, I stuff my backpack with as much of the supplies it back hold, then grab another box to carry in my arms. Surveying the flatbed load, I realize it’s going to take at least twenty trips to get all this into the supply room.
Just great. I have to make myself go down that ladder over and over again.
As I reach the end of the stairs, I see three men in the living room area of the bunker. One is kneeling by the floor, looking at something. The other two are talking.
One of the two looks pretty young, maybe college-aged. His skin is deeply tanned and his hair is hidden beneath a baseball hat. The other one looks like a young Russell Crowe, very tall and all muscles and chiseled jaw line. He’s wearing shorts and a plain gray t-shirt.
He has to be the football player. He’s got arrogant pro athlete written all over him, from his biceps straining the sleeves of his shirt to his perfect smile.

Cover Reveal: Hotshot Doc by RS Grey

R.S. Grey's next romantic comedy, HOTSHOT DOC, releases December 6th! Check out the cover and find out more about HOTSHOT DOC below!

About HOTSHOT DOC (available December 6th)

Dr. Russell has a bad reputation around our hospital. The scrub techs say he’s cold-blooded, the nurses say he’s too cocky for his own good, and the residents say he’s the best surgeon in the world—really, just a swell guy!—on the off chance he’s within earshot.
I try to avoid him and his temper at all costs. It’s just as easy to admire his sexy, grip-it-while-he’s-ravishing-you hair and chiseled jaw from a healthy distance, preferably from the other end of the hallway…half-hidden behind a plant.
Unfortunately, my plan crumbles when my trusty ol’ boss decides to swap his white coat for a Hawaiian shirt. His retirement leaves me with two terrible options: switch specialties and spend months retraining, or take an open position as Dr. Russell’s surgical assistant.
That means I have to stand near him in the OR for hours on end and anticipate his every need without letting his biting words and bad attitude intimidate me. Oh, and as if that’s not difficult enough, my silly crush on him—the one I’ve tried to stomp on until it disappears—might just be reciprocated.
It’s fine.
I’m fine.
I take my job seriously. There will be no smoldering bedroom eyes across the operating table, no angry almost-kisses in the storage closet. (Well, no more of those.)
What’s the phrase? An apple a day keeps the doctor away?
Maybe I should go for a whole damn bushel.

Blog Tour: Pucked Love by Helena Hunting

PuckedLoveBTBanner.jpg

Pucked Love, the final sexy and emotional standalone in the NYT bestselling Pucked Series from New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting, is available NOW!

As an NHL player, relationships haven’t been my thing. Shrouded in secrecy and speculation, they never last very long. But then that’s what happens when you require an NDA before the first date.
Until Charlene. She’s like a firefly. She’s elusive, and if you catch her she’ll burn bright, but keeping her trapped dulls her fire and dims her beauty.
I caught her. And as much as I might want to keep her, I’ll never put the lid on her jar. Not at the risk of losing her. So I've let her set the rules in our relationship.
But as long hidden secrets expose us both, I discover exactly how fragile Charlene is, and how much I need her.
We’re all broken. We’re all messed up. Some more than others. Me more than most.

PUCKEDLOVE_full_trim (1).jpg4 stars
Review by Lisa Kane

I loved this series from Helena Hunting and with every mention of Darren and Charlene I would get more confused. What was up with them? They were so secretive about their relationship. (and considering Charlene is besties with Violet, that can't be easy!)

Well our first inkling about this couple is a little strange and a lot kinky. Darren comes home with all hockey buddies and they get quite the eyeful of a naked, submissive Charlene.

In the middle of the room, halfway between kneeling and standing, is Charlene. My girlfriend. Naked. Well, apart from her pearl necklace and a pair of fuck-me heels.

Now all teammates have seen her surrounded by a ball gag, mask, giant dragon dick dildo (that was from her Game of Thrones phase) and lots of lingerie. Darren is obsessive about his privacy; this isn't going to go over well.

Darren and Charlene have been together (or as close to together as you can call their relationship) for about two years. On their first date, Darren presented her with a non-disclosure agreement. Which she refused to sign.

"It's meant to protect us both."
"It's not a condom, Darren. It's an NDA. The next thing I know I'll have some kind of tracking chip and I'll be tied to your bed."

Darren's made a lot of compromises over the years. On the surface one might think it's Darren holding them back from anything more permanent, but there is something right below the surface with Charlene. Something I just can't quite put my finger on.

What Charlene doesn't understand is that my needs end and begin with only her.

Charlene's insecurities about Darren are only getting worse since there's a chance he may be traded due to an expansion draft for a team in Vegas. Where would that leave them?

Slowly, and I do mean slowly, some of the secrets these two have kept from each other are shared. But then that just brings up other concerns.

Until now I've never allowed myself to get involved with someone to the point of needing them so acutely.

These two don't have walls around themselves-it's more like giant moats!

The neat lines we'd drawn seem to be erasing themselves, and I don't know how to do this without them. It makes me feel unsteady.

All around them their friends' lives are changing...marriage and children and permanent homes. Things are moving quickly and the changes are making Charlene more than a little uneasy.

Darren tries so hard to show her how much he cares about her, but is she on the same page?

I feel like I'm losing her, as if I've opened the glass jar and this time when she goes free, she won't come back.

Sometimes, no matter how far back our past is in the rear view mirror, some things just won't stay hidden. When it all blows up in everyone's face, where will that leave Darren and Charlene?

She's everything. She's all the missing pieces I need to feel whole.

Excerpt:
You’re turning twenty-six. It’s your champagne birthday, so we need to do something fun.” Violet bounces, making her boobs shake and my mimosa slosh perilously. “It should be themed! We can all wear leather chaps!”

“Could you be any more cliché?” I roll my eyes. “Just to be clear, Darren doesn’t own chaps.”

“Just a ball gag and a mask with no eye holes, according to Alex.”

And we’re back to my sex life. I knew I was getting off so easy.

I wonder if Darren is catching this kind of heat today. I seriously doubt it’s worse than what I’m getting since I don’t think his friends are likely to push his buttons, but I’ll have to ask when I speak to him next. I’m not sure when that will be, either. The message I sent about Gertrude was pretty straightforward and doesn’t necessarily require a response. Maybe I should’ve worded it differently.

Sunny raises her hand, like we’re all still in middle school and she’s waiting her turn to speak. “Wouldn’t a mask with no eyeholes be dangerous? You wouldn’t be able to see where you’re going.” Her eyes widen, and she looks around the room. “And what’s a ball gag?”

I honestly love that Sunny has grown up in this highly overinformed society and still manages to be innocent.

“Yeah, Char, wouldn’t a mask with no eyeholes be dangerous?” Violet props her fist on her chin and smiles. “And please, do explain what a ball gag is.”

“I’m not sure you really want the answer to that, Sunny.” Poppy gives me a look I can’t quite decipher.

Sunny twirls her hair around her finger. “Why not?”

“Where’s the harm in a little bondage-sex education? It’s not like Miller’s ever going to go out and buy either item for her. First of all, Alex would murder him, and secondly, I don’t think that’s Miller’s thing.”

Sunny’s face lights up, and she does jazz hands. “Oh! I think I know what Miller’s thing is!”

Lily grins. “Eating your cookie?”

“He really likes to do that, a lot. When my belly gets too big I’ll have to watch from the mirror.” She gets a faraway look in her eyes. “But he has another thing! Kind of like how you and Randy are always getting it on in bathrooms, except I think it’s a bit more sanitary.”

“And it doesn’t cause thousands of dollars of damage,” Violet adds.

Lily throws her hands up in the air. “That sink was already falling off the wall. It’s not my fault it broke!”

“That was one expensive orgasm,” I say.

“And Randy says it was worth every penny.” Lily’s smile is devious as she bites her knuckle, then turns to Sunny. “Anyway, back to Miller’s thing.”

Sunny wiggles around excitedly in her chair. “So Miller paints my toenails for me.”

“Miller’s thing is painting your toenails?”

“Yes. Well, no. I think he likes my toes.” Her fingers go to her lips, and she looks around the room, her cheeks flushing.

“Say what now?” Violet asks.

”Sometimes he kisses them.” She covers her mouth with her palm and says something unintelligible.

Violet sits forward in her chair. “Hold on a second, does Buck have a foot fetish?”

“Um, I don’t know.” Sunny looks worried now. “Is that weird? Is it, like, mask with no eyeholes kind of weird?”

Blurb:

Briggs,

Remember when we parted ways in Germany? It was the day I broke your heart. What you didn't know was that I was breaking mine too.

I thought they’d be enough–my husband and my son. That I’d get home and everything would go back to the way it was . . .

Before the war.

Before the ambush.

Before you.

But, no matter how hard I try, I can’t erase the trauma we shared. I can’t seem to forget the way my heart beat in time with yours.

The truth is I’m lost without you.

I thought the nightmare was over when they pulled us from that hole in the ground, but nothing could have prepared me for the war I’d face at home.

I know it’s selfish of me to ask, but, please, I have to see you one last time. . .

All my love,

Scottie

5 Stars
Review by Jen Skewes

I have read all of Kate Stewart's book and loved them. With each new book I find my new favorite of hers.  But this book, wow!!  She completely blew me away.  This is by far her best book.  I have never rad Heather M. Orgeron's work before but that is going to change.  This author duet completely broke me over and over again.  With each page, a little piece of my heart broke off, leaving it completely decimated.  I swear I had a lump in my throat the entire time.  It wasn't until the end , when they managed to piece my heart back together did that I was able to breathe again.

I guess you can say that this book is love triangle, and many who have read it will agree.  But for me it was so much more.  The triangle part of this book honestly came second to what these characters experience, the pain they endure, the struggles that they must overcome and the heartbreaking decisions that must be made.  As the book opens up Scottie is saying goodbye to her husband and son as she is being deployed.  It is there that she meets Sergeant Briggs, who is a little cocky, a lot sexy, but someone that you can count on when necessary. The two of them go through something that is unimaginable, horrific, and fearful.  But it forms this bond between the two of them, one that no one may even understand, but it is there.

Scottie loves her husband and son with all that she has.  And they have always been enough for her.  But now she must face so many obstacles.  She is a broken woman, a shell of the woman who left ll those months ago.  she needs to fight the demons, not just for herself but for her family.  But despite living her family, Briggs is never far from her mind.  Will her family be enough to get her through this?

I cannot begin to express how much I loved this book and what it did to me.  Yes there were times where I smiled and laughed, but those moments were few compared to the moments that broke me.  This book didn't just tug on my heartstrings, it yanked on them.  And please do not let that scare you.  Every ounce of pain and sadness that I felt was 100% worth it.  The writing is flawless, the story itself brilliant, and these two authors made me feel it ALL.  The prologue alone sucked me in.  I never wanted to put this book down. I was submerged in Scottie, Briggs and Gavin's world and didn't want to leave.  With every word and every page this book has my emotions all over the place.  The heartbreak alone was enough, but add to that the fact that I wondered where this book would go, how it would all end and you have an amazing story.  It is a beautiful love story but also one about love, friendship, pain and strength.  It's about losing yourself and being able to find yourself again.  It deals with very heavy topic and was dealt with in a very special and delicate way.  I didn't give too much info on the plot or the characters, because this book you just need to experience on your own.  Go in blind.  Once you start you will not want to let go.  With that being said I will say that I loved both Gavin and Briggs.  But one of those men had my heart from the very beginning and he never let it go!!

Kate Stewart and Heather M Orgeron, I applaud you for writing this book and I thank you.  It is one of my top reads this year.  It is that book that will stay with you always.  Amazing, amazing job!!!
