Maeve Gallager is about to walk down the aisle to marry her fiance Peter, the man she's been with for the last seven years. There's only one problem-where is the groom? Turns out Maeve has been left at the altar. But he does send an email a few days later.

I just can't do the whole house and kids thing right now-I just can't. 

You're a very sweet girl, but you're not very adventurous. 

I don't want you to think that I don't love you anymore. I still love you. If you'll still have me without the commitment, without a promise of a white picket fence and kids, I'm still here.

That right there, just about sums up Peter. I wanted to shake Maeve and make her read his message over and over. After seven years, if she is willing to go backwards and have things be casual he'd be willing to try again.

So Maeve's mom and friends encourage her to go back to her hometown for a short break. She's in between jobs right now and has nothing to stay in town for anyway. She lives in Peter's house.

But does Maeve want to go back there? Ten years ago after her family suffered a heartbreaking tragedy, she got to see her boyfriend Blake Taylor making out with a random chick. That was the last straw. She fled and never looked back. But life didn't stand still back there. Her best friend Mandy, is Blake's sister, and his older brother married her older sister and they have two kids. Their lives are tangled up and Maeve doesn't relish revisiting those memories again.

Let's just say Blake and Maeve meeting again isn't exactly hearts and flowers.

"So, are you still a virgin?" he asks.

"Finally gave it up to him and he dumps you on your wedding day. That must sting."

I can't say I'm warming up to this guy. I'm wondering if he's the jerk he seems to be. With a little encouragement from Maeve's friends, they devise a plan to make Peter see what a fool he was to let her go. She's not boring...look at her having all this fun. Now to find a guy to make Peter jealous...

"So what do I need to do?" he asks. "I can't wait to find out. I'm game for anything." Another wink in my direction.

Operation make Peter regret everything commences. Lots of pics on Instagram and Facebook. The chemistry between Blake and Maeve is still there, but then so are the ghosts of their pasts. Blake is quite the ladies' man and hasn't lacked for female companionship over the years. Why didn't he ever marry? Was there someone special? Peter's taking the bait and has been contacting Maeve trying to get her to give him another chance. A chance for what? A casual relationship, with no commitment?

Things are really getting sticky. Blake and Maeve are full balls to the wall enjoying their sex buddies with no strings attached relationship. Peter is trying to get back into Maeve's life and she's confused. She knows Blake is fine with whatever is going on, and can she really throw away seven years because of one mistake on Peter's part? (I'll answer that question for you...girl you need to run like Forest Gump away from that douchebag!)

Expect lots of confusion, hurt feelings, angst and yeah lots of steamy sex in lots of inappropriate places.

I loved Rhys and Lydia's story in Good Girl, but kept wondering just what the hell happened between her best friend Payton and Vince, the strip club owner.

Payton Tanner is a bit wild and has absolutely no filter when it comes to speaking her mind. She and Lydia are working in Vegas; Lydia in human resources, Payton in event planning. Lydia is confused by her boss, Rhys. It seems like he likes her, but he keeps putting the brakes on anything happening between them. She comes up with a crazy scheme to auction off her virginity at a strip club, but the only invite going out will be to Rhys.

That's how these two would be Lucy and Ethel's end up at Double Diamonds Gentlemen's club. They're shown in to meet with Vince Rossi. Turns out Payton saw Vince at the hotel she works at-more like she gawked at his wicked hotness. Vince is less than impressed with this harebrained idea. Lydia isn't going to back down from her plan and Payton is just content to be in the same room as Vince.

I'm never wearing this top again. The man makes a living running an establishment with topless women and he can't even be bothered to check out my rack? 

Payton has definitely met her match! Vince is one cool cookie and doesn't even bother to pretend not to be confused by Payton's ramblings.

"Do you have multiple girlfriends?" I ask. 
"Excuse me?" Vince's expression barely changes, like at all. He focuses on me, head tilted a fraction in my direction, but I know he heard me. It's not even that weird of a question considering where we are.

But Payton's craziness is infectious and Vince ends up spending a drunken, wild night with her. So wild that on a dare they ended up married to each other. Peyton wakes up just knowing Vince is going to have enormous regret about the two of them being married, so she makes the first move to leave. Vince is not one to hide away from and it doesn't take him long to track her down. He might be there to talk about things getting out of control, but then they end up talking and laughing and one night together leads to lots of nights.

"Condoms," he announces, pulling them from my bag like a gaggle of clowns piling out of a tiny car. 

The more they get to know each other, the more they realize that maybe getting married wasn't the craziest thing that could have happened. But like any great love story, there's gonna be an anvil that's going to drop right on top of our loveable Payton.

I'm embarrassed. So embarrassed that he doesn't feel the way I feel, because that's what it boils down to, doesn't it? 

Oh, Vince how could you? There's an explanation, right? There's a reason this is happening? You aren't just another douche are you?

They say love conquers all, but that's a lie. Love fucks up all the time. I've seen firsthand how much love cannot conquer.
Love is an asshole.

There's a lot to Vince that Payton doesn't know. For once, can she not jump to conclusions and sabotage the best thing that just might be happening to her?

She was such a contradiction. Confident with a hint of insecurity. Aggressive with a dash of adorable. Crazy with a silver lining that was all heart.

He thinks I’m funny. And exasperating. And bossy. And beautiful, he said that I was beautiful.

It’s not the worst start in the history of starts, but I’d like to know more.

I pull out a stool and sit down at the island countertop so I can watch Vince work. It occurs to me once again what a shit wife I am. I don’t cook. I don’t give blow jobs. I haven’t asked if he needs anything dropped off at the dry cleaner. I don’t wear sexy lingerie. Maybe I should change? To be fair, the blow job thing is not my fault. I did offer that first night. I meant to yesterday but he distracted me with his tongue and that was that. Gah, I’m just the worst.

“What are you thinking about?”

“Giving you a blow job.”

“Yeah?” Vince responds easily, as if we’re talking about where the cutting board is. “Do you have a list of specific requirements for how you’d want that to happen?”

So he’s open to the idea, is what I’m hearing. Maybe he’ll want to date after the annulment and he’ll fall in love with me? It’ll make a great story for our grandchildren.

“You say that like I’m demanding.”

“You are.”

“I’m extremely easy-going! Everyone says so!” No one says that, actually. But it’s probably just because it’s never come up. It’s not as if I go around asking people if they think I’m easy-going, but if I did, they’d say yes. Probably. At least everyone except Vince would.

“You have a very easy-going way of getting your own way,” Vince states as he sets a pot of water on the stove to boil.

I suppose I can see where he might think that. That might even be a fair assessment.
I’m really self-aware. I need to add that to my list of positive attributes.

“So for the blow job, can I tie you up?”

“No.” The answer is firm, his lips twitching like the question was amusing.

Humph. “Can you tie me up?”

“How are you going to give me a blow job if you’re tied up?”

Dammit! Worst. Wife. Ever. “I suppose without my hands it’d be more like you using my mouth to masturbate while I did nothing, wouldn’t it?”

“What a visual you paint, Payton.”

“You’re still welcome to tie me up though. It doesn’t have to be tradesies.”

“Tradesies,” he mutters with a shake of his head, but he’s smiling as he uncorks the wine and pours two glasses.

“So, where do you see yourself in five years, Vince?” Might as well dive in with the talking.

He looks up from rolling back his shirt sleeves, a look of confusion flashing across his face replaced with an amused narrowing of his eyes.

“Excuse me? Is this an interview?” He laughs, placing a pan on my stovetop before rummaging through my cabinets for a bottle of olive oil.

“This is serious. You’ll be old and divorced. Think about that.”

“An annulment doesn’t count as a divorce. It doesn’t count as anything.”

“Try telling that to Britney. She’s gonna have that nineteen-hour marriage on her Wikipedia page until she dies. Wikipedia, Vince. That’s forever.”

“Okay, whoa. Let’s step back a moment here.”

“Do you need a wife with benefits?” I press on, because taking a step back doesn’t sound like it will get me anywhere.

“What exactly does that mean?”

“I have health insurance. Do you need health insurance? I could add you to my plan. It’s very reasonable, adding a spouse only costs like an extra two hundred dollars a month. It’s a really good plan, too. At least that’s what Lydia told me and she works in Human Resources so she would know. I’m no benefits package expert.”

“That’s not what the term ‘with benefits’ means.”

“Listen, in this case I think it’s exactly what that means. Society is the one who turned the word ‘benefit’ into something dirty.”

“So there’d be no sex in this exchange?”

“Don’t be ridiculous. Of course there’d be sex.”

“Did you just talk yourself into a circle?”

“Maybe.” Dammit.

Erik Dahlbeck can have any women he wants except the one he really wants. Flight attendant, Blue, wouldn’t toss a glass of water on him if he were on fire, she’d probably throw a little gasoline, and everyone knows that but no one knows the reason. Erik’s obsession with learning why Blue hates him so much actually works in his favor; as he learns more and more about her he realizes that she really could be “the one”. 

Blue Gardner has a lot on her plate; she’s the sole provider for her younger disabled brother and she’s got bills to pay. The last think she needs is a playboy like Erik Dahlbeck in her life. His reputation proceeds him and the fact that he doesn’t remember that they actually met before is not helping his case. 

This is book number two in the Arizona Vengeance Series and so far Mrs. Bennett is two for two with this new series. We first met Erik and Blue in book one, in Bishop’s and Brook’s story and I remember thinking then that I really wanted the story of these two because they intrigued the hell out of me. I loved both characters. I like Blue because she seemed so real, like someone you could actually get to know. At one point she decided to forgive Erik for his past transgressions and be friends.  While she’s trying to work the friendship angle, Erik is trying to move to the relationship angle. 

There were times when Blue would bring up the past and I kind of felt like she was taking stabs and being passive-aggressive. I mean, you said you forgave the guy so move on already. Of course, it becomes clear that Blue’s afraid of having her heart broken; more importantly, she’s afraid a relationship with Erik will take her back to being the person she didn’t really like being. 

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at Erik, he shed the playboy image in record speed and became a one-woman-man for Blue. He’s a sensitive soul and when discovers everything Blue has on her plate,  he truly wants to help her and make her life easier.

While there wasn’t a lot of witty banter in this book, it was full of passion and I don’t mean the sexual kind (although that was present too); it was the kind of passion that meant they should be together; they just had to both get on the same page. 

This was a quick read, it probably could be finished in one day,  but it was really well written. As usual,  there are supporting characters that grab your attention; there’s Tacker who I can’t wait to read about and Dax, but I have a suspicion that the next book will be about Legend and Pepper. (Pepper sounds like a firecracker).

I loved Ten Reasons to stay but the one thing that I did not like was Jack.  He frustrated and annoyed me and quite frankly I may have hated him. When I found out that the second book would be Jack and Jessica’s story, I was hesitant but at the same time completely intrigued.  I wanted to see if Jack would redeem himself.  If I would get to see the situation with his wife from his point of view. And most of all once I did get all of that would I fall for him?  The answer is yes!!  

This story starts off at the same place as the first book.  But we are now seeing it from Jack’s point of view as well as Jessica’s.  I honestly felt bad for Jack at times because I think he truly loved Corinne.  I think they both loved each other but you see more that these two just were not meant to be together.  We also see that some moments from the first book may not have been what they seemed. So, we do get Jack’s point of view and yes it made me feel for him and understand him but at the same time I did want more.  

I thought that it would be hard to actually like and feel something for Jessica.  She was the other woman, after all.  But I couldn’t have been more wrong.  To see what she has been through, a loveless marriage, a cheating husband, parents who want nothing to do with her.  When she meets Jack, he treats her in a way that no one ever has. For the first time in her life she truly feels what it is like to be loved by someone.  I really loved her character and felt so much for her.  

After we move on from the past, it is now two years later when Jessica finds that Jack is living right in her neighborhood.  She is still married; her children are a little older and her feelings for Jack never went away.  She knew that he was never truly hers back then, but she’s also not sure that he will be now.  He is in no way the same man that she fell in love with.  He is in bad shape, no longer caring about the materialistic things in life. And honestly, based on his appearance it seems he has stopped caring about himself as well.  But when Jessica gets good news, he is the first person she wants to share it with.  And this is where their second chance story really begins.  Their feelings for each other never went away.   Will they be able to make it work this time?  Will her husband be so willing to let her go? You will have to read to find out.  

I really did enjoy this book.  I think the moments in the past could have been expanded on a little more.  If you did not read the first book you may be a little confused, so I definitely recommend it.  But once these two meet up again I loved it.  I loved seeing the love between the two of them and how much they both changed.  They were meant to find each other gain.  Jessica was meant to be in Jack’s life.  I think Ms. Knoebel definitely did their story justice. It is filled with drama and angst and he made me love and feel for two characters that I wasn’t sure I could love.  And I absolutely loved the ending.

Dangerous Exes is the second in the Dirty Liars series. I loved Blaire and Colin's story in Dirty Exes and kept wondering if Jessie Beckett, hot ex-quarterback and former love of Blaire's would get together with Blaire's partner in crime, Isla. In the first book, I wasn't sure if I wanted Blaire and Jessie to get back together or if I wanted her with Colin. Jessie had a lot to answer for, but I felt like he redeemed himself. By the end I didn't think he deserved to get Blaire back-he burnt that bridge. He needed to start with someone new.

If you aren't familiar with what kind of work Blaire and Isla do-well they investigate cheating partners.

I'm the Beyonce of catching cheaters with their pants down.

Jessie's wife at the time hired them to get some dirt on him and to prove he was cheating on her. When all the while she was the cheater. But in the process, Jessie's reputation got dragged in the mud and he's still dealing with the fall out. He blames Isla for all his PR problems. He's determined that she's going to pay for all the trouble she's caused him. I think it's a case of the man doth protest too much...he took a liking to this feisty little chick and when it turned out she created more problems for him, he felt betrayed.

I glared. Jessie freaking Beckett.

Ex-client of Dirty Exes, the PI company my best friend and I built from the ground up.

Ex-quarterback.

Ex-pain in my ass. 

All the time Jessie is following Isla around, stalking her, plotting her downfall is more time spent with her. The woman he wants, whether he admits it or not.

Isla's been burnt herself. She started this whole business with Blaire after her she caught her man cheating on her more than once. Trust isn't something that's going to come easily. Especially if the man in question is out for revenge. But hormones will be hormones.

And I wondered if that's what the other half of the world felt like.

The happy ones.

The ones in relationships.

Because I'd never experienced sex in that way before. 

With a man who once promised to destroy me. 

I love their flirty little texts as their walls come atumblin' down.

Me: Why would you send me a car?

Jessie: So you don't have to walk or drive or do anything except sit and think about all the wild sex we're going to have tonight. 

But you just know there's gonna be a little drama. They are on shaky pegs at best and insecurities and their rocky pasts are going to come creeping up into the present.

There's a little wisdom in this story that helps to remind me why forgiveness is sometimes really necessary.

"The thing about forgiveness, Isla, that nobody remembers in the midst of pain and betrayal, is that we do it for ourselves-not for them. You're only punishing yourself. He knows you're angry, believe me, but right now it's hurting you more than it's hurting him." 

Sometimes it's important to forgive and move on. Leave the other person in your rear view mirror. But sometimes we forgive so we can keep on moving along on our journey with that other person.

What a throughly engaging story!

Lenora has been raised to be the Queen of Wessco. No softness in her childhood. Nothing but royal duties and expectations. When she finally comes to power, it is demanded that she marry. It is expected. Who better to marry than her best friend Thomas, Duke of Anthorp? No matter that he has a special friend, Michael. They are all aware of their duty to country and heritage.

But Thomas is sick, very sick and his rogue brother, Edward has been summoned. He once was expected to bear the title for the family, but he left years ago for his own reasons.

I stayed away because I wanted more out of life than a title and vaults full of money I didn't earn. I wanted a purpose. A reason for being. I was searching for it.

I always look forward to a Natasha Knight book.  I know it is going to be dark and intense and I will love the hero that I am supposed to hate.  Ad Taken was no different. Well maybe it was a little different.  I have read a lot of Ms. Knight’s books and for some reason this one to me seemed different.  Maybe it was the hero or the plot of the story.  But either way it was a little different and I loved it.  I loved the angst, the darkness, the sassy heroine and the hero who in this story I really should have hated.  But there is something about him and I hope to get a little deeper when it comes to Sebastian Scafoni.

There is a history between the Willow and Scafoni families, all though not a very pleasant one.  The Willow family is known for birthing quadruplet girls and when those girls turn 21, they are to be given to the oldest member of the Scafoni family.  He gets her for one year and then she is passed down to the other male members.  There are rules that are not to be broken. When It is Sebastian’s turn to pick his Willow Girl, he shocks everyone by picking Helena.  He sees that she is the defiant one, a challenge and she is definitely the one that he wants.  No matter what rules are being broken or how much his brothers disagree.  In the past the Willow girl never comes home completely whole.  The Scafoni family breaks them over and over again.  But Helena is different, she is a fighter, and a feisty one at that.  Will she be like the other Willow girls before her?

I loved this book. Sebastian is a complete bastard, I admit it.   Normally you can see some sort of remorse underneath that tough exterior, and that is what makes you love the bad guy.  But at times I am not even sure I saw that part of him.  But I hoped it was there.  I am not sure what it was but there is something about Sebastian that made me love him.  At times, I would get a peek at a different side of him and then all of a sudden, he is back to the cruel man who had no problem hurting or humiliating Helena.  I honestly did believe he is not really the enemy here and I think there is a lot more to him than what we see.  I am really hoping that we get to dig a little deeper into Sebastian’s heart, mind and soul.   

Helena is a strong, feisty girl who will fight to the end, no matter what it will cost her.  She is determined to end this archaic and barbaric tradition between the two families.  And it is exactly that – barbaric.  The premise of this story is what I loved, and what I think is so different.  I was on the edge of my seat reading this one. There were people I hated, people I loved and those that I am still not sure about.  There is drama, angst, dark elements and moments where you are not sure if you should love or hate them.  Trust me at times I questioned my own insanity.  All I do know is that in the end I want to see Sebastian and Helena make this work.  There’s an element to their relationship that I think is them, what really draws them together, despite the hatred and reason for them being together in the first place. But I think under different circumstances, things between them would be different but the same.  I am being vague because I do not want to give too much away, so you will just have to read this book to understand.  I loved it.  If you have read Natasha Knight’s books before, you know that she can write darkness like no other.  She makes you feel it all and manages to make you fall for someone that you have no business falling for.  I cannot wait to read Torn.
