Hot Pick of the Week: Broken by Christa Cervone

Review for Broken by Christa Cervone
 4 Stars

“Leila, I know you better than you know yourself. You’re self-destructive, especially when it comes to Garrett.”

Four years ago, Leila made one of the toughest decisions of her life and it ended up costing her the love of her life. Ever since Garrett walked out on her and disappeared from her life, she has dealt with the loss by drinking herself to oblivion and sleeping with random men. No matter what she does nothing fills the void. She can’t stop dreaming about him, missing him. She is going through the motions of life without really living. She works part time at a bar that she lives above and she does wedding photography on the weekends. A chance encounter brings him crashing back into her life.

“I’ve had this empty feeling inside of me for so long, I don’t know what it feels like to be whole. I keep searching for someone to make me feel like he did but no one does. I feel so lost, I just want the old me back and I don’t know how to get back to that place.”

Garrett loved Leila but when she made a decision without him he couldn’t help but be angry and feel betrayed. He needed to get away from her to think things through. The decision he made kept him away for four years and a decision he regrets.

“Leila, please don’t cry.” “It breaks my heart to see you cry. I came here to tell you that I miss you. Ever since I saw you at the wedding, I haven’t been able to get you out of my mind. You consume my thoughts. I can’t eat. I can’t sleep.”

Leila has to figure out how to put the pieces of her life back together. She needs to deal with the choices she made after he left her. Garrett is learning to forgive and is crushed to see how Broken she really is. Will they be able to piece together their broken hearts?

“I may have been gone, but you were always in my heart.”

Christa Cervone does not disappoint in her debut novel.
With some internal battles that both, Leila and Garrett learn to deal with. The road to recovery they each take was emotional and in Garrett’s case very inspirational. Knowing that this story was loosely based on some aspects of real people and experiences, made it that much better!

I was honored to receive an advanced reader copy in return for an honest review. Honestly all I can say is that I FREAKING LOVED IT. The characters were fantastically written. You were able to connect with them emotionally. The sex scenes were fantastic, very real not over done- just the right  amount of description.

This book is on my best list of 2013! This is an author to definitely one to watch out for!
