This
book was phenomenal. It had so many twists and turns I didn't know what was
going to happen next. I couldn't figure it out and I was blown away. Emalyn
Spicer has lived with the "lonely," for a long time. As long as she can
remember. Not just the lonely inhabits her mind, body, and soul- but also the
OCD. As she goes off to college with her friend, Michelle, both the OCD and the
lonely threaten to get in the way of her one wish- to be a normal girl.
She
meets Sebastian one day at the gym while running- he sees the OCD and still asks
her out. She starts to fall for him, but it is so hard to be that normal girl
she wants to be. Emalyn has been an orphan since age three. She's lived with
nuns her whole life and they are part of the OCD. Everything has to be clean,
and precise. She
also has a benefactor whom she refers to as Uncle Daddy. Who takes care of her-
gives her money when she needs it and provides her with a safety net. I loved
the benefactor. He was always correcting her grammar, telling her to speak like
an adult. And it was my fantasy that they meet and fall in love.
Then
the twist, which to me, is a spoiler- so I have to leave it out. But it's a major
turning point in the story and actually helps Emalyn to see that she never had
to worry about the Lonely and the OCD will get better.
If
you are a fan of dark romances (Find you in the Dark, or the Dark Duets series)
you will thoroughly enjoy this book. There is also a bit of kink- and who
doesn't love that from time to time! And there will also be a companion book to
this story out in the summer about the hero of the book, who I refuse to name,
called the Lost Boy and I cannot wait for that one. Tara Brown has written a
captivating book, and I loved every second of this emotional roller
coaster!
