Review: Give Me Something by Elizabeth Lee

Summary:
Here's the deal... I learned a long time ago that sometimes you have to use what you've got to make things happen. What I happen to have is a pretty smile, long legs and the ability to make men believe anything I say. Before you get on your high horse and start judging me, can you honestly say you've never batted your lashes at some guy for a free drink at the bar? That's what I thought.

Keep that in mind as I tell you my story of how I took it one step further. My story of lies, deceit, manipulation and love. Yeah, love. Believe me, it fits. Especially, when you factor in Nick and Tucker – one had my heart and the other one wanted it all for himself. Which one? Well, I can't tell you that. It would defeat the purpose of the story. If I'm going to fill you in about me, Lila Garrison, and my life as a con artist you're going to need to know all the facts, including the ones about the two guys who made me want to give up the life of fancy clothes, expensive jewelry, fast cars and easy money. Because sometimes, one person can give you something that's more valuable than all of that.

If you're still interested, stick around. Just remember, I'm pretty good at convincing people to do what I want, so if by the end of this whole thing you feel worked over, don't say I didn't warn you.

“Tucker’s the mark”

Give Me Something had a little bit of everything you could want in a book. College drama, hot guys/pretty girls, suspense, deceit and a love triangle. I was hooked from the prologue and wasn’t disappointed when I finished the epilogue.

Best friends Nick and Lila are tired of being poor. Nick convinces Lila that they can con rich men (aka marks) out of money and have the high life. At sixteen they leave home and begin their life of deceit. Nick is the mastermind and Lila the beautiful girl with charm. Lila has fallen in love with Nick and wants more – Nick adores Lila but is only looking for that next mark.

After almost 5 years, Lila and Nick decide to try college life. They con/blackmail the dean and now attend school at no cost. Lila works to appear as the normal college student – Nick belongs to a fraternity and their lives go along nicely. However, Nick has one more con, one more mark that he must get and he needs Lila’s help. Nick promises Lila that after this they will be together in a real relationship and start their life.
S
In walks Tucker Kline, Nick’s fraternity brother. Tucker is good looking, charming, loves pickup lines, and is extremely wealthy. He is also the only heir to the Kline fortune, or is he? Nick along with Lila’s assistance set out to make Tucker their last mark, but what Nick never expected was for Lila’s feelings to change. Why was Nick so determined to con Tucker that he would risk his relationship with Lila?

I was torn, did I want Lila to love Nick or did I want her to love Tucker? I appreciated how Elizabeth brought the story together and everything made sense. The story ended how I love to see my books end….with me smiling!!!

Shattered by Elizabeth Lee

Alyssa Boyd had big plans. Big plans that included getting the hell out of the little town she’d grown up in with her two best friends. When she decided it was time to let one of them know her true feelings for him; a change of plans resulted in a tragic turn of events. Now, Alyssa is left alone to find her way out of the darkness that an untimely death has left in its wake.

Jesse Vaughn was never good at letting people in. He’d learned a long time ago that it’s easier that way because people leave, or, unfortunately, die. The one person he wanted to let in doesn’t want him anymore. The only problem is he can’t stop thinking about her. Jesse returns to the childhood home he left behind with one goal in mind… to convince her that they should be together.

When Jesse finds Alyssa she’s not the same girl he left behind. She’s wild, reckless and hell-bent on not giving Jesse a second chance. Lucky for Jesse, his stubborn streak has always been a mile-wide and he’s not about to give up on her.

When your life has been shattered can you really pick up all the pieces and move on
