Blog tour review and giveaway: Cage by Harper Sloan

Synopsis:
"Alpha heroes you'll want to kidnap and keep, heroines to root for, and sizzling love scenes with emotional punch." Carly Phillips, NY Times Bestselling Author
Greg Cage was born to protect. While growing up, he was his mother and sister’s shield against the world… until he failed. For the last decade, he has carried that guilt and need for vengeance around… until it was stripped from him. Now, with his best friend getting married and no longer needing his protection, he is even more lost, completely adrift, and desperate for some control. All he has ever known was how to protect: his family, his friends, and his country. Can he go against everything he has ever known, and give up that control?
Melissa Larson will never let anyone hold the reins in her life. She has been the rock in her family for more years than she can remember, and the fight to keep them together is her main priority right now. She has always been fiercely independent and proud. The last thing she will ever do is ask for someone else’s help. But when that choice is out of her control, forcing her to rely on others to save her and her family, and pick up the pieces that are left, will she be able to let someone else be her strength?

The second Greg locks eyes with Meli, he knows that she is someone he needs. Someone he craves. Meli knew the second she met Greg that he would be nothing but trouble and heartache. Her life takes an unexpected turn, and that bitch Fate is back to wreak more havoc on another member of the Corps family.

All hell breaks loose, leaving Greg no choice but to call in a favor. He hooks back up with his old friend Braxxon Breaker from the Breakneck MC. Together, they make sure that nothing threatens anyone Greg loves again.

CAGE is a complete story with a HEA.

4 star review by Lisa Kane

Greg Cage works hard and plays harder. He is the self-appointed protector for his best friend Izzy (from book #1 Axel in this series). Her abusive husband almost destroyed her and Greg will never let anything happen to her again. Years ago, while he was in the service, his twin sister Grace married a guy Greg didn’t like. While he was still serving, his sister met with a car accident. Deep down Greg feels his brother in law, Simon Wagner is somehow to blame in tampering with her car.

A few years later Simon’s second wife also has an accident. But this time both he and his wife Sophia are dead. He feels guilty that he didn’t stop Wagner after his sister’s death. Maybe if he had shut him down this woman would still be alive.

A year later his security business with Axel and his former service buddies is doing great and he has a tight relationship with Axel and Beck, Coop and Maddox. His office assistant Emmy is a sweetheart but hopelessly in love with Maddox and is out of her league. Izzy’s friend Dee blows hot and cold with Beck and that situation is drama, drama, drama.

When Cage gets an itch he has plenty of women ready to scratch it. His current itch scratcher is Mandy, a gorgeous woman who seems to have a problem understanding that Cage wants sex, pure and simple. Bada bing bada boom, until the next time. She is becoming a problem, but in her defense, Cage keeps dipping into that well. So maybe the fact that he keeps having sex, feeds her fire that he reciprocates her feelings.

While taking Izzy and Axel’s son, Nate to the doctors, he meets a drop dead gorgeous angel who is a nurse there. Sparks crackle but before he can find out more about her, she disappears. In a strange twist of fate, this woman, who he calls Nurse Sex in his mind, is a friend of Izzy’s and turns up at her bachelorette party. Cage comes on a bit strong, but he is not going to let this beauty go without finding out who she is and doing what he has to do to make her his. He finds out her name is Melissa but before he gets to spend any real time with her Mandy shows up and puts an end to things.

These two eventually spend lots of time together. Melissa is gun shy about relationships. Her sister was killed and she and her mother are raising her 3 year old nephew, Cohen together. Cage and Melissa figure they will have some fun, getting a lot physical and enjoy each other’s company. But how long can that go on when they both feel more than they want to admit?

And I thought he had set my body on fire before. Hard, wet, and full of carnal heat, his tongue battles with my own for dominance. His hands fist my hair, and turn my head, and his body envelops mine. He owns me with a single kiss.

Melissa’s family troubles bring out the alpha in Greg. Enter a malicious grandmother determined to get custody of Cohen. More than once Melissa is forced to lean on Cage (something he loves!) and things turn deadly and only Cage can handle the business that has to be done. What happens when Melissa learns that Cage may have been less than honest with her about their connection? Can she break down the barriers that prevent her from trust?
I liked this one; it’s a great follow up to Axel which I loved. These characters all hold so many secrets; I loved discovering them one by one. There is a cross over character, Braxxon from Crystal Spears Seize Me, who plays a pivotal role towards the end of the book. Clever move Ms. Sloan.

Greg Cage is one delicious popsicle waiting to be licked and he oozes sex. He has met his match with Melissa, she enjoys a good bout of sexual acrobatics. He is possessive, demanding and has just a touch of a dominant in him. I can’t wait for the remaining books in this series.

“You’re acting like a beast, Greg.” I laugh, struggling to keep up with his long legged strides.

“Told you, every Beauty needs her Beast.”

Harper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed 'Estrogen Ocean', much to her husband’s chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her ereader attached. As an ex-reviewer and blogger, Harper's passion for reading runs deep. It wasn't until 'Axel' decided to take up residence that she realized her true calling.
She started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn't take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.
