Review: Maybe This Time by Chantal Fernando

Synopsis

Moving in with my half-brother Xander, I had no idea what to expect.

But nothing could have prepared me for this.

My brother’s friends are wild, protective, secretive, always around.

And drop dead gorgeous.

Out of all of them, there's something about Reid Knox.

Brooding, temperamental, guarded…

And I want him more than anything I have ever wanted in my life.

4 star review by Jen Skewes

After her mother passes away, Summer moves in with her half brother Zander who she has never met before.  Growing up she always thought that her father never loved her, never wanted her and learned to live her life without him.  But now that she is living with her brother she learns the era reasons why she never met her brother and why her father really stayed away.  Zander and Summer have an instant brother/sister bond and he is very protective of her.  In staying with her brother she meets all of his friends s well, since they seems to be there all the time.  Reid and Ryan Knox ore the hottie twins.  Reid is a complete jerk when he first meets her.  Not because he doesn't like but more because he does.  He is attracted to her but needs to stay away.  He doesn't do relationships and he doesn't feel like he deserves her.  But as time goes on staying way from her seems to be  little harder than planned.  Eventually they both give into the feelings that they have for each other.  But at some point secrets, lies and the past come into play and could destroy what they have together.

Reid Knox is the definition of an alpha male.  He is moody, possessive, dominant at times and completely sexy.  There were  moments when he could be a complete jerk and made some mistakes along the way but you still couldn't help but like the guy.  You could see just how much he loved Summer and see the damage and pain that his past caused.  It helped you to understand him better.  Summer is a feisty, strong and independent woman.  She has no problem taking care of herself.  She said what was on her mind and when she wanted something she went for it.  And what she wanted was Reid.  Summer and Reid were perfect together and the chemistry between the two of them was off the charts.  While Reid did things that completely pissed me off, at times pushing Summer away I still found myself rooting for these two to get their happily ever after.

I loved the relationships that Summer formed along the way.  Her and Xander took to each other very well and formed a quick bond.  They were brother and sister and even through they just met they were comfortable with each other, as if they had known each other for years.  Then there is Ryan, Reid's twin man whore brother.  I loved him and cannot wait for his story.   Summer and Ryan had this connection and became the closest of friends.

Maybe this Time was a quick enjoyable read that had drama, angst and a few twists and turns along the way that you do not see coming.  It is written in alternating point of views which I am a big fan of.  I loved getting into the heads of both of the main characters, especially the hero.  Another wonderful job by Ms. Fernando.  Cannot wait for the next one.
