There is a place in all of us where our deepest secrets lie in wait for their moment to surface, and surface they will.
After living through a real live nightmare, Olivia wants nothing but to forget. Forget and move on. But how do you forget something that has stained your soul and forces you to lie to your loved ones? Even if your intentions are to spare them the horrors of the truth?
Luke knows Olivia is not as recovered as she would have him believe. He can see the pain she tries to keep hidden behind her eyes, and knows she has not told him everything. But how do you save someone who won’t let you in? Where shame holds Olivia captive, Luke suffers through the guilt of not protecting the one person he loves more than anything.
Can two people who have suffered so dearly find a way to come together or will they risk the dreams they have placed in each other’s hearts? Can love find a way where forgiveness cannot?

4 Star Review by Jen Hagen

Livvie has been kidnapped by her psycho ex-husband Deacon.  She has no idea where she is at, no idea how long she has been missing and no idea what Deacon has in store for her.  Livvie has been kept drugged and in her brief moments of consciousness the only thing that keeps her going are her dreams of the future with her and Luke sitting together on a porch watching their children.  Luke and Livvie finally found their way back to each other after 7 years, and Deacon is hell bent on destroying Livvie’s hope for a future with Luke.  Livvie is a fighter and there is no way she is going to let Deacon take her down.   She will go down on her own before she lets Deacon do the honors.  It’s a miracle she doesn’t kill herself in the process.

“Hear me right now, Olivia…THIS IS NOT OVER!  I will find a way, and I will be back for you.  I promise you that.”

Both Livvie and Luke have to come to terms with what was done to Livvie at the hands of Deacon.  Was she more than physically abused?  Was she sexually abused?  It’s a lot to process on both their accounts, both of them scared to know the truth.

Will I be able to kiss her, touch her, look at her and love her without thinking about the fact that his hands were there too?  Are Olivia and I strong enough to get through something like this?

Luke and Livvie begin their quest for normalcy, all while never addressing the silent question of where is Deacon?   Luke likes to be in charge, albeit in a silent way.  He wants to make things right for Livvie as he places so much blame on himself for her kidnapping with the fact that he wasn’t there for her.   Luke wants to fix Livvie and help her move forward, but Livvie refuses to talk about it.  Can Luke follow Livvie’s demandsto leave it alone or is he too much of an alpha male to let it go?

“Angel, I’m sorry, I just want to fix this.  I just want to help.”
Looking him straight in the eyes I say words I know he won’t like, “You can’t.”

Normal…it sounds so easy and something within our reach, but for Livvie she has to work at being normal.  She has to work at being happy.  She has to always have somebody with her for fear of Deacon coming out of nowhere to take her again. This is not normal for Livvie and she’s beginning to become wore down by it.  There is a scene in the book that stands out because it is laced with humor.  I was laughing pretty hard throughout this scene.  Most of the book is delicate, but this scene is hilarious and it makes you realize that Livvie and Luke just want normal again.  They want to be the couple that can laugh together and at each other.  For 7 years they were apart and hurting and now after they had their second chance, they still are not able to embrace a normal adult relationship.  It’s time these two were given a break, and if this scene can help them find normal then let them have at it.

Luke is a loving man who stands beside Livvie giving her all his love and support.  He will not accept losing her again.  He loves fiercely and deeply.  We are able to hear Luke’s thoughts as the story is told in dual points of view.

The dream she shared with me – I want to make that happen for her.  For us.  I can’t look ahead into the future and not see her in it.   -  Luke

EXCERPT:

“HELP! I’VE BEEN KIDNAPPED. SOMEONE HEL…”
Suddenly, I am grabbed from behind and dragged into the bedroom and thrown on the bed like a rag doll. I try to roll onto my back but instead a weight settles on my back, and my face gets shoved into the mattress.
“Shut the fuck up, bitch.”
The voice is not Deacon’s. I freeze as shock runs through my body from head to toe, paralyzing me in fear.
“Lover boy isn’t here to save you. It might be worth facing his anger to shut you up permanently.”
I don’t speak. I’m afraid to move. Who is this man? He moves off me so he can roughly flip me over. I stare up into his hard eyes. He’s not an attractive man. Light hair, pointy nose, and lips so thin they’re hardly there at all. He has a scar that runs from the tip of his eyebrow to the middle of his cheek. “Leave me alone.”
“I don’t think I will… what does he call you? Princess? I don’t think I will, princess.” He says mockingly. Then, to my horror he runs his hand down the front of my body, squeezing my breasts painfully and then gripping my hip. His breathing starts quickening.
“No, please don’t touch me.”
“That’s right, beg, you bitch. Next time you will think twice about breaking the rules and trying to yell for help.”
Oh God. He’s going to hurt me, or worse. I do the only thing I can. I start struggling. I kick my legs like a three-year-old having a tantrum. I throw my head back and forth and get one of my hands loose and scrape my nails down the front of his face. “Let go of me!” I scream.
