Thirteen years ago CeCe was in love with Jarod Gates. She gave him her heat and her virginity and

She doesn’t allow herself to get attached or fall in love for fear of
getting her heart broken again. But what

CeCe is being stalked by someone and to help keep her safe
her friend and “honorary” brother, Dylan has hired a PI to keep watch over her
and to investigate the case. Who is the
PI you ask? Yep, you guessed it, Jarod
Gates. CeCe obviously wants nothing to
do with him, all though her body tells her differently. But unfortunately for her she has no
choice. Jarod will do everything he can
to protect CeCe and to be honest I think his reasons for being so protective
have nothing to do with money or his job.
It’s been thirteen years since he walked away from her, but
she has never been far from his mind.
His memories and thoughts of CeCe is what kept him going all these years. Jarod wants more than to just be some guy who
was hired to protect her. He wants to be
in her life, as her friend and perhaps even more. When they do cross that line, CeCe swears
that it is nothing more than sex, but for Jarod that couldn’t be farther from
the truth. But CeCE has put up so many walls around her heart
that seem impossible to break. Will
Jarod be the one to break down those walls, when he is part of the reason that
they have been built in the first place?
I love Jarod!!!! Have
I said that yet? Well I do. He was sexy as hell but you could tell deep
down how he felt for CeCe. He was very
protective of her and you know it had nothing to do with his job. He loved her even if it was something that he
couldn’t admit. CeCe was a great
heroine. I get why she was so guarded
and tried so hard not to get attached.
Especially when it came to Jarod.
She was still in love with him but getting too close and giving in
scared the crap out of her. Will they
both be able to give into their feelings for each other and get a second chance
at love?
I loved this book so much.
I am a huge fan of Wendy and this series. She has a way of creating these amazing characters. Hot sexy males that are simply amazing and
heroines that we can all relate to and Breaking Spades was no different. Jarod was a complete mystery when we first
met him and that is what made him so sexy and yet at the same time very
intriguing. I needed to know why he left
13 years ago, and exactly what happened while he was gone. What were his fears and insecurities and did
that have anything to do with him leaving?
Breaking Spades is definitely my favorite book in this
series. It had just the right amount of
drama and angst. The sexual tension
between Jarod and CeCe was off the charts.
There was this build up to that moment when they finally gave into each
other and when they finally did it was HOT!!!
And one of those moments that you will not forget. The suspense and drama was enough to keep you
on the edge of your seat. I loved the
flirty banter back and forth between them.
It was what made them, them and they were completely made for each
other. There were moments where I
laughed, smiled and even cried. Moments
where I got that lump in my throat and felt my eyes tearing up. Jarod and CeCe were perfect for each
other. They had a chemistry that was
undeniable. But not everything for them
was all hearts and roses. There were
certainly bumps along the way, but in the end you will be left smiling and with
a Jarod hangover.
Breaking spades is an amazing story about second
chances and love, and what lengths one will go to prove their love. Amazing job
Three Chicks: Jarod, you were never that far from CeCe over the years, so why did you stay away for so long?
Jarod: Talk about going for the throat
right off the bat, huh Jen? True I
wasn’t that far from her geographically, and with the work I did for Dylan, I
was able to keep tabs on her. But I wasn’t ready to confront her yet. I knew that when I went to her, and have no
doubt I would, that I was what she deserved.
Crazed asshole there, only turned up my timetable.
Three Chicks: Jarod, we understand why you left back then but why were you
so harsh to her, instead of just telling her the truth?
Jarod: I admit, it wasn’t the best of my
moments, but my heart was in the right place.
I needed to make sure she wouldn’t hold a torch, so to speak. I needed her to forget about me until I was
worthy enough. I was cocky enough to
know how to do it effectively. *Jarod
turns to CeCe to his left, as his hands remains on her knee and says in a
whisper, “I was so stupid.”*
Three Chicks: CeCe, now that you have a man in your life that loves you
and protects you, has Dylan backed off a little with the overprotectiveness?
CeCe: *throws her head back and
laughs* Jen, can a tiger change his stripes?
If anything, Dylan is worse now, constantly asking me if Gates is toeing
the line. *Jarod rolls his eyes* But, I
wouldn’t have it any other way.
Three Chicks: CeCe, what does your friendship with Dylan mean to you?
CeCe: Everything. There are no words for what I feel for the
pushy bugger. To know Dylan is to love
him.
Three Chicks: How hard was it to resist Jarod when you saw him again for
the first time. I mean just looking at
the man sitting next to you I am not sure I would have been able to hold back J
CeCe: *CeCe laughs as Jarod sits up
straighter and smiles his signature smile* It wasn’t hard, if anything I think
I should be credited for my restraint that I didn’t stick my stiletto in an
unnamed body part. *Jarod mouths the
word “ouch"*
Three Chicks: CeCe, you kept telling Jarod that it was just sex, but did
you really believe that?
CeCe: I did. *CeCe looks at Jarod before
turning back to Jen* I was determined to ignore my heart. I thought if I said it enough, it would make
me stronger in my resolve.
Three Chicks: Jarod, why the nickname kitten? Is there a meaning behind it?
Jarod: Have you seen her nails? She comes out claws first. *CeCe imitates scratching his face* I called
her kitten one night when she and I had spent most of the night talking. Just listening to how she saw the world and
how she believed in her dreams and her wants was so pure. Far from what I was used to in life at that
moment. She was so innocent. *Jarod leans in close to CeCe face and says
in a high pitched sing-song voice* Not to mention sweet and cuddly.
Three Chicks: Jarod, CeCe had been
hurt by another man in her life, prior to you and then you came along and hurt
her even more. Did you think leaving the
way you did had hurt her as much as it did, and that she would still be
carrying around that hurt after all these years?
Jarod: I’m an asshole…next question. Honestly, I didn’t think big picture effects,
I was only thinking how I could justify making the worst mistake of my
life. Case closed.
Three Chicks: CeCe, so we want to know the truth, what was really going
through your mind the first time you saw Jarod after all these years. How sexy he still was or why is this jerk
back in my life? Maybe a little bit of
both?
CeCe: How I could stab his sexy ass…does
that answer the question?
Three Chicks: Jarod, you have said that your love for CeCe is what kept
you going these past years. Can you
explain what you meant?
Jarod: We all need something to strive
for. If you have nothing to look forward
to or drive your daily actions, then what’s the point of life. She was my reason to get up and fight harder,
worker longer, stay stronger. Every day
was a day closer to her. That was all
the motivation I needed.
Three Chicks: Jarod, what do you love the most about CeCe? CeCe, same question about Jarod.
Jarod: Her fire. She gives all. She knows what she wants and goes after it
come hell or high water. She puts
everything she has into everything she does.
And she does it all with grace, beauty and her personalized CeCe spin on
it. There is no prouder man than me.
CeCe: He’s pretty good in the sack.
Jarod: *laughs before winking to
CeCe* don’t forget that I make a mean Shepard’s pie.
Three Chicks: Do you both thank Dylan every day for bringing the two of
you back to each other?
CeCe: Yes, amongst other aspects of
my life.
Jarod: Hell yeah, and I thank him
for keeping her safe and cared for when I didn’t. *Jarod looks to CeCe suddenly uncaring that
they aren’t the only two in the room* I swear to you kitten, not a day will go
by I won’t make it up to you. As long as
I’m breathing, I will show you my worthiness.
Loving you is what I was put on this Earth to do, and I’ll be damn if
I’m not going to be flawless this time around.
