Synopsis
Companion to "Unbreakable" -- Landon's story
**This book is a Contemporary Romance and contains mature subject matter. It is not intended for those under 17 years of age.**
I’ve found it’s easier to share my body but not my soul. I need no one, yet I crave her.
Self-assured and independent, she doesn’t need me—but she wants me, and undeniably I want her too. At war with myself as I battle the secrets of my past, I don’t know if I can allow her to see the darkest parts of me, the parts I’ve left untouched—undone.
As she chips away at the walls I’ve built for years, I fear those secrets will hold me hostage from love—forever.

5 star Review by Jen Skewes
I loved Landon in Unbreakable. He wasn’t the perfect person for the heroine
but I still fell in love with him and could not wait for his story. He was a mystery that I could not wait to
solve. We knew that he had walls up but
did not know why. Undone is his
story where we learn why the walls are up and
watch as the only person he has ever let in starts to break away at those
walls.
Landon is the sexy bad boy, tattooed cop who you can’t help
fall in love with. He is also very
broken from his childhood. What he had
to endure growing up is enough to break anyone.
His mother left him when he was 8, leaving him to care for his sister
and deal with his abusive father. As an
adult, Landon has never been able to move on from that past. He doesn’t do relationships, doesn’t get
attached. He has rules, like not kissing
a woman, he doesn’t make promises and he doesn’t sleep with the same woman more
than once. He has never wanted to break
those rules until he sees her: Reagan.
He is at a bar one night with his partner and
that is when he sees her. There is
something about her that makes him want to get to know her. He convinces his partner and sister to go to
the same bar the following night. He
wants her but Reagan proves to be a hard person to reach. She doesn’t fall at his feet like most woman
do, she isn’t quick to jump in his bed.
She proves to be a challenge, a challenge that he is willing to accept. But as he spends more time with her he knows
that she is unlike any woman that he has ever met. He does things with her and for her that he
would never imagine doing. He is
starting to have feelings for this woman that he can’t explain or comprehend.
Reagan is a doctor
who helps out her uncle at his bar from time to time. She too has secrets from her past that she
isn’t willing to share just yet. But she
likes Landon and enjoys hanging out with him.
She wants to continue seeing him and in a way needs him. But she knows his rules and knowing that if
she slept with him, she won’t see him again, she has no choice but to keep
things the way they are. Friends only
and she does everything she can to not sleep with him. But it comes to a point where neither one of
them can fight there feelings for each other.
What happens when they finally give in?
Will Landon stay and choose Reagan over running in the other direction?
Landon was a very broken man, and rightfully so. When we finally see the pain that he went to
as a child you want to just hold him and tell him it is over and it will all be
ok. No child should have to go through
or see the things that he did. What I
loved about Landon is that beneath the bad boy image and the broken man was a
very caring person. Someone who cared,
even if he felt like he didn’t. He loved
his sister more than anything and would do whatever it took to protect
her. And while he may think he wasn’t
capable of love, he was. He had issues
and a tendency to run when things got tough but deep down you could see the
love he had for Reagan. He just needed to
admit it to himself and be able to move on from his past.
I loved Reagan. She
was a strong and confident woman . She
knew what she needed and wanted from Landon and she fought for it, for him. I
also loved the friendship that she formed with Landon’s sister Lindsey. Undone was certainly an emotional read but it also had it's heart warming and fun moments between Landon and Reagan. I loved the banter between them. They both had their secrets from their pasts that haunt him. Landon's past will truly break your heart but I loved see in how much Regan helped him heal. She fought for them and she fought for him. Their road to happiness was one that had some obstacles in the way. It was emotional, intense and real. You will fall in love with Landon and Regan and rooting for them to find their HEA. Another fantastic job by Ms. Shea.
GUEST POST
We asked Rebecca Shea about Landon's character development. We wanted to know how his character was developed. Was his past something the she developed in her mind when she first created him. And what research went into it all of it to create his character.
REBECCA SHEA'S RESPONSE: Landon was never supposed to have a big role in Unbreakable. He was never even in the story I had in my head. As I sat down to write and tell Jess & Gabe's story, this man just kept coming to me. I knew I needed to add him to the story, but I intended to keep his role small, he was supposed to just be a blip on the radar. There wasn't even supposed to be a storyline between him and Jess. But as I was writing, he just kept taking over. I knew I had to develop him with a good backstory…so that people would understand his 'playboy' tendencies, and were willing to forgive him for it and move beyond. As for research, I spent a good deal of time, researching childhood abuse (physical) and the long withstanding affects on adults. Surprisingly, his character really fell into place with that. His insecurities, his aggressiveness made sense, based upon his background.
However, there HAD to be redeeming characteristics with his character. His relationship and protectiveness of Lindsay and eventually Reagan show that side to him. He's not always selfish, or broody (okay, maybe broody!).
I was really excited when I sent Unbreakable to my beta's and they all connected with Landon. They begged for his story, and out of that Undone was born! I hope you all love Landon as much as I do! You'll get to see a bit more of him in Lindsay and Matt's story, Unforgiven. The final book in the Unbreakable series!
