Blog Tour: Deep Down by Elle Aycart

Deep Down Blog Tour Banner

Mike Haddican is a proud small-town gym owner, a renowned karate instructor, and all-around good guy. He’s never needed much to be happy: his family, his friends, his girl. Especially his girl. But when Kyra left him seven years ago to chase her dreams, she all but destroyed him.
Contemporary dancer Kyra Brims made it big, but it cost her dearly. With her life and career in shambles, she doesn’t need a do-over, she needs a friggin’ miracle. Injured, broke, and out of options after going through hell, she’s come back to Alden, the town she swore she’d never return to and home of Mike Haddican, the man who ripped her soul to pieces, to lick her wounds and recover.
Forgetting and letting go proved impossible when they were worlds apart; now that they’re stuck together they don’t stand a chance, especially with Mike’s grandma and her partners in crime plotting, meddling and refusing to give up on them.
As the passion that never died burns out of control, so do old hurts and unresolved issues. Both have reasons to be angry and feel betrayed, but now that they’re older, are they wise enough to make things work?

4 Star Review by Jen Skewes

Deep Down is the first book in the OG's series which is a spin off of Elle Aycart's Bowen Brothers series.  I loved The Bowen brothers and was looking forward to reading Mike's story.  There is one thing that you can always count on in Elle Aycart's books and that is hot and steamy sex scenes.  And this one does not disappoint

Mike and Kyra have been in love with each other since they were kids.  They had a deep connection and Mike planned on marrying Kyra one day.  Until all of Kyra's dreams started to become a reality, causing her to leave town and Mike behind.  Kyra set off to follow her dreams of becoming a dancer. Mike had no intentions of following her while she pursued her dream which caused the two of them to break up.  Leaving them both broken hearted.

It is now years later and Kyra is a single mother, broke, injured and has no place to go.
So she returns to her home town of Alden to try to get back on her feet.  She now has to face the one man who has always owned her heart but has the ability to completely shatter it all over again.  Things between Mike and Kyra aren't exactly pleasant. Mike is still hurt by the fact that she could not commit to him and instead went after her dreams.  But here she is divorced and a single mom.  It's almost like a punch in the face to him knowing that after she left him she was able to settle down and move on.  But things aren't always as they seem.  Kyra's years without Mike weren't the best years.  Yes she had an amazing career that she loved but for the most part was alone.   Leaving Alden all those years ago cost her the love of her life.  But now they have a second chance at love with each other.  They just need to get past the hurt, the pain and bitterness of the past.

Kyra and Mike's heartache and pain was all due to one big miscommunication.  If they took the time to actually communicate with each other things could have turned out a lot differently.  But that is exactly what this story is about.  Two people learning the truth about what really happened over the past 6 years.  The connection between Mike and Kyra is still very much alive but they both hurt each other and are not sure they can give their hearts away again.  They give in to the passion and lust that they have for each other but both know that once Kyra gets back on her feet again, that things will change.  Will Kyra sacrifice it all for love this time around or is her career still her number one priority?

I really enjoyed this story and I loved Mike, I honestly did.  But there were also moments where I was not his biggest fan.  First let me say that the connection he formed with Kyra's daughter was so sweet and lovable and I loved seeing that side of him.  That little girl looked up to him and he treated her and loved her as his own.  You see the depths of his love for Kyra and how bad she hurt him.  But for me and I cannot believe I am even saying this but there were times when he became controlling, especially in the bedroom which I did not care for.  For me personally the controlling side of him seemed forced and almost as punishment for Kyra leaving him.  And while that may not be the case at all I wasn't completely sold on the controlling side of Mike.  I think deep down he was an amazing guy who had his heart broken.  He was a family man who loved his family and would protect them and care for them.  This is evident in his relationship with his grandmother.  That was the Mike that I enjoyed.  Don't get me wrong I loved Mike but for me that love didn't happen as quickly as it did for others.

Kyra was a great heroine all though stubborn and frustrating at times.  She tried to make something of herself and while she was very successful she also had very bad luck in the love department.  she as an amazing mother who loved her daughter.  She loved Mike with all her heart but the second time around made her fearful of getting hurt again.

I really enjoyed this book.  Mike and Kyra were perfect together and made the perfect little family with her daughter Sam.  The old grandmother's were a wonderful and humorous addition to this story.  They brought the humor to this story and I loved them.  The sex scenes were so hot and steamy that you may want to have a fan close by while reading.  Another great job by Elle Aycart.

After a colorful array of jobs all over Europe ranging from translator to chocolatier to travel agent to sushi chef to flight dispatcher, Elle Aycart is certain of one thing and one thing only: aside from writing romances, she has abso-frigging-lutely no clue what she wants to do when she grows up. Not that it stops her from trying all sorts of crazy stuff. While she is probably now thinking of a new profession, her head never stops churning new plots for her romances. She lives currently in Barcelona, Spain, with her husband and two daughters, although who knows, in no time she could be living at the Arctic Circle in Finland, breeding reindeer.
