Blog Tour: Tethered by LD Davis

From the New York Times Best Selling Author of the Accidentally On Purpose trilogy…

“You were born to be mine and I was born to be yours.”

Donya Stewart’s chest filled with the soft beating wings of butterflies when she first met Emmet Grayne’s green eyes at the ripe age of five. Unable to identify the tugging pressure within her when in his presence, Donya moved through the first several years of her life addled by her feelings for the boy who was her best friend’s brother, and very much like her own sibling. But one cool autumn night in her mystifying teenage years, Emmet erases any ideas Donya has of him being anything like a sibling.

Donya and Emmet, unable to deny the invisible cord that fetters them together on an incredibly visceral level, begin a long journey on a road abounding with challenges, hurdles, and destructive forces. Their love for one another is absolute, and the emotional link between them is strong, but when they make a series of painful decisions and mistakes that pull them apart, the strength of that tether is challenged.

Donya’s career as a model took her around the world and away from Emmet who was working hard for his law degree. When Donya makes a hard decision for both of them, the tether between them stretches beyond what seems possible.

“The tether contorted and quivered and groaned in protest.”

Happy endings aren’t always a guarantee, even for two people who were born into this world for each other. With age comes maturity and hindsight. Will Emmet and Donya have to live apart and with the consequences of their choices? Will the link between them bring them together or prove to ensnare them in heartache?

If you are in search of an angst-filled romance novel, get tied into Tethered…

5 Star Review by Jen Skewes

WOW!!  LD Davis has done it again!!  I love her writing and how much emotion she brings out of the reader.  I love the drama and the angst.  Tethered has it all!  This is Donya and Emmet's emotional journey.

We first met Donya in Accidentally on Purpose.  She is Emmy's best friend.  In Tethered we see how their friendship formed and how she came to be a member of Emmys family.  They met when they were kids and immediately hit it off.  After her father's death her mother wasn't really in the right farm elf mind to take care of her.  She spent most of her childhood with the Graynes and became like a surrogate daughter and sister to all of them.

Emmet Grayne, Emmy's brother, is a few years older than Donya but he always looked out for her and protected her like a sister.  They had a typical brother/sister relationship until they became older and their feelings for each other became complicated.   Their feelings for each other became stronger and more intense.  There was always a connection between Donya and Emmett but when they were teenagers that connection became stronger. They liked each other and maybe at that point even loved each other.  But there were so many things standing in their way.  For one Donya was so young and not ready for a serious relationship.  She didn't want to turn out like her mother.   But neither one of them could deny their feelings or the pull that they felt towards each other.

As the years went on Emmet and Donya still felt their connection.  No matter where they were or who they were with they were always connected and always loved each other. They were connected in ways no one could understand.  But no matter how much they loved each other or wanted to be together timing was never on their side.  They faced so many obstacles throughout the years.  They were too young, their family didn't approve, their careers came first.  When they were together things were great, they were in love.  But when they were apart their relationship seemed to be toxic, hurting each other with their words and actions.

Over the years they had an on again/off again relationship.  They have loved each other since they were kids.  They have this intense love like no other.  Their love for each other was so strong and so intense that you felt it. At times my heart just broke for them.  I felt the pain and hurt that they felt.  Everything they did seemed to be done with such intensity. You feel the strength of the connection that they share.  They are each's there half but finding their way to happiness is not an easy one.  They are young, in love and have a whole life ahead of them.  Their are so many obstacles in their way.  There was this push and pull between them and every time they are apart you feel the pain that they feel.  Just as things seemed to go great something else would pull them apart.  But their hearts always belonged to each other.  They owned each other. They are two people that are meant to be together but need to get their shit together before that can happen.  How much heartache and pain will they have to endure before they finally become one.  To finally become whole and live their lives together?

I loved this book so much and loved Emmet and Donya.  Their love for each other was so strong and so intense that you felt it.  When they were apart my heart ached for them.  I felt the pain and hurt that they felt.  Everything they did seemed to be done with such intensity, even the fights.

Emmet completely captured my heart.  They were both to blame for all the pain that they went through but a part of me felt bad for him.  I felt that maybe at times he wanted it more.  He loved her with everything he had.  And you saw and felt just how much. I admit there were times when he said things that were uncalled for and hurtful but in a weird way I understood where they were coming from.

I loved Donya and I understood her motives and reasons for pushing him away when she did. But part of me felt that she did more of the pushing.  She was strong and confident and she wanted to make something of herself.  And I respect her and admire her for wanting to be her own person and not getting lost in a guy.  But she still frustrated me at times. She was meant to be with Emmett but she was sometimes too stubborn.  I guess in ways they both were. I think their strong and intense connection was sometimes too much for them to handle.  Despite the pain they put each other through and the decisions that I may not have agreed with, I still loved the both of them and was rooting for them to find their happily ever after.

What I loved about Tethered is that it takes place over the course of 20+ years.  From the time Emmet and Donya met as kids to their adult life.  Their journey was one that was filled with so many bumps along the way and so much hurt.  They had a love like no other.  A love that most people could not understand.  They were connected in a way that they knew when the other walked in a room without even seeing them.  They felt each other.  As the reader you feel that connection with them.  There was one moment that just made me cry and gave me goosebumps  "I heard you, baby,"  he said as his voice cracked.  "I Heard You."  It was this moment that defined their connection and the tether that they felt between them.  Now of course you will have to read the book to completely understand

LD Davis has this amazing ability of creating these characters that you have a love/hate relationship with, and I mean that in a good way.  Characters that will just consume you. And if you have read read her Accidentally on Purpose series you will understand exactly what I mean.  Emmet and Donya are no different.  While I didn't exactly hate either of the characters there were times when  I wanted to punch some sense into them.  Tethered is certainly a roller coaster ride of emotions.  The biggest one being frustration.  So many times I wanted to just shake the two of them and tell them to just work it out.  I hurt for them, I laughed with them, I cried with them and for them, but most of all I fell in love with them.

Tethered may be a bit long but it is technically three books in one.  Emmet and Donya’s story will frustrate you, rip your heart out at times, make you smile and even cry.  Every minute was worth all the anger and frustration.  In the end everything happens for a reason.  And everything that Donya and Emmet experienced was for a reason.  Two people may be destined to be together but sometimes life throws a few obstacles their way.  Those obstacles need to be faced head on and decisions need to be made.  And sometimes those decisions may not be the right ones but are the best for everyone at that time. And if two people are destined to be together they will find their way back.

Tethered was simply amazing. This story will frustrate you, at times break you and leave you smiling in the end.  It was truly the perfect ending to an emotional story.  So get ready for the drama and the angst because there is plenty. Absolutely loved it!!
