THIS IS A total STAND-ALONE NOVEL. No need to read the first two books in the series to enjoy this book. This is not a dark romance.

You’re my everything
4.5 Star Review by Jennifer Hagen
I refuse to be held accountable for giving away the huge
spoiler that exists within this book. I
want your jaw to drop, your heart to stop beating, and for you to feel that
moment of speechlessness just like I did. I won’t give away the major plot of the story
in my review.
We were first introduced to Lane in the second
installment of the Beautiful Broken series.
He is a very, very close friend to Audrey and I recall him having an
aura of mystique to him during that book.
I knew he had a secret, but we were never given any glimpses into what
that could possibly be. Ms. Lauren was
of course not going to give away any clues to take away from the intrigue that
was coming in Lane’s book.
Lane grew up in New York City and was a third generation
police officer serving alongside his father. He made a promise to protect, but when
that promise is tragically broken he moved out to California with the hopes of
being able to find a strong lead. Lane
began training for underground boxing with the hopes of infiltrating the
gambling circle which would in turn lead him to his target. Because of his training, Lane is HUGE and HOT.
Lane has recently moved to Texas with a
close friend and her husband, since his California quest didn’t turn up any
answers. Lane is now part of the
Jace/Jaxon/Cole circle and these guys consider Lane part of their family and
would do anything to help him.
After 4 years of waiting, Lane gets a strong lead on the
case and his past is finally coming home.
Along with that comes Raegan, a spunky gal who went from being a suspected
major player in the case to being the savior.
Lane has spent the past 4 years placing blame on Raegan, but he quickly
realizes that if it weren’t for her, the case would still be facing dead ends. In order to keep continuity between the
people involved, Lane and Raegan have no other option but to be in close
proximity with each other. Lane sees
firsthand the nightmares that plague Raegan.
“Sleep. Sleep in my arms, knowing that I’m here. I’ll never let anyone hurt you again. Sleep baby, I’ve got you now.” -- Lane
Lane is full of love and he isn’t afraid to show it. This man brought me to tears on several
occasions with his soft heart. This big
muscular man who could squash anybody that gets in his way, is a soft gentle
lover. He protects Raegan from the dark
of night and moves her away from the place that gives her the nightmares and
panic attacks. Along the journey towards
peace and acceptance, he has discovered another emotion – one of love.
“I love you. I can’t believe you’re making me tell you
this for the first time in a damn bar, but I love you!”
They all thought the case was closed…justice had been
served and the man was behind bars. But
when things are going well and your guard is down, the past can still come and
hit you hard when you least expect it from the person you never once thought
could betray you.
This wasn’t
fair. It answered so many questions, but
if given the choices, I think I would have chosen to never know. Not this – this was too sick.
Can Lane look past the betrayal and move forward with his
life? Will the past be constantly
looking him in the eyes and will he see the 4 years that have been missing from
his life when he looks into those same eyes?
Is love strong enough to make you forget? Luckily Lane has wonderful friends to help
and support not only him but also Raegan.
This was my
family. Everyone in this room I happily
called my family. We didn’t have the
same blood running through our veins, but that didn’t mean we loved each other
any less. Each one of us would go to the
ends of the Earth for one another.
I have loved every book in this series, but this one gave
me an emotion I wasn’t prepared for – I had tears of joy from the warmth and
love that exudes from Lane. He made my
heart swell with his ability to love so strongly and to naturally be able to
nurture. I loved the interaction of the
gang – they are all here in small tidbits but when they are all together that’s
a lot of hot beef…
“I can’t look at
Cole like that because he’s practically my brother…it weirds me out. I know what Jace looks like because I sleep
with his identical twin every night. Lane’s my only mental fantasy.” Only our previously promiscuous Emerson
would be able to get by with this statement.
Jaxon still has his hands full with Emerson, but loves every minute of
it.
I have one suggestion for the author… I would like a book
called “Beautiful Babies.” Wouldn’t that
be a good story??? There is nothing more
becoming than a hot strong male holding babies…lots and lots of babies.
