Blog Tour: Saving You by Kelly Elliott

Synopsis:

What happens when your head and heart contradict each other regarding the one person you’ve always wanted?
Growing up, Luke Johnson and Libby Hayes thought they would be best friends forever.
One kiss changed everything.
Fearing his love for Libby could cost him their friendship, Luke chooses to listen to his head—instead of his heart.
Will the regrets of denying the one person Luke wants to give himself to, end up leaving him lost and alone? Or will Libby be able to save him with her love?

Saving You is book 2 in the Love Wanted In Texas Series.

4.5 Fantastic Stars by Lisa Kane

I have been waiting for this book to release. Saved from the Wanted series was my favorite book. That was the story of Ari and Jeff Johnson. Their journey to their HEA was full of angst and drama and stomach plummeting action. I LOVED it! Saving You is their son Luke's story of his relationship with Libby, the daughter of Josh and Heather from that same Wanted series. Once best friends, their undeclared feelings for each other lead to heartache and loneliness and substitution with other partners in their quest to deny what they feel.

Their story started in Without You, the first in this new Love Wanted Series. Both are now in college and Luke truly believes he is not good enough for Libby. She knows he is attracted to her, but the "I want you, I want you not" back and forth from him is wearing thin. He has a booty call girl, Abigail, who is his go to partner for sex. Libby is more than aware of her and is hurt beyond belief. He won't admit his true feelings for her, but he screws around with this girl, knowing it hurts Libby. (This is where I would like to insert my knee in his crotch)

"You weren't kidding when you said you're horny." She smiled bigger and raised her eyebrow as she pursed her lips. "Does Abigail  need some relief?"
She slowly nodded her head. "Yes. She does. And the only person who can do that is you, Mr. Johnson."
I let out a laugh as I leaned back. My smile faded instantly. It was as if I felt her before I saw her. Turning, I saw Libby standing there. I pushed my chair back and stood.  "Lib, what's up?"
I watched as her eyes traveled down my body and I instantly adjusted my somewhat hard dick. She looked back up and all I saw was hurt. Again.

At the end of Without You, Libby was dating Zach and had just lost her virginity to him. And of course that's when Luke came barreling into her dorm room, finally ready to let her know he loved her. Seeing Zach in her bed crushed him, and he turned back to Abigail.

Sitting in my truck, I thought back to a few weeks ago when I had walked in on Libby and Zach. My stomach felt sick any time I thought about it.

Saving You actually starts before those events. There is a glimpse into why Luke feels he betrayed Libby when he went away to college, and she was still in high school. These two suffer from numerous miscommunications and poor choices. But the chemistry between them...

"Luke, can you push your pants off? I'll have to turn around while you get your pants off since you're not wearing any underwear."
The smile that moved across his face caused my body to betray me. I could almost feel my nipples get harder and the wetness between my legs was a sure sign I wanted him.

Luke is determined to graduate early, he wants to make his living by working with his dad and uncle on their ranches. Two years into college, Libby still has no idea what she wants to do.

Meanwhile there is lots going on with the secondary characters. Alex (Ellie and Gunner's daughter) is engaged to Will, Heather and Josh's son. Grace, Luke's sister and Ari and Jeff's daughter, is a little lost because of a one night stand she had with a guy named Noah. She doesn't  think he would want someone like her,  (not sure why she feels this way, but when we get Grace's story I'm sure we'll find out) Colt is also the son of Gunner and Ellie and he is in an on again off again battle with Laurel,  (Scott and Jessie's daughter). Those two have such a storm relationship. And then there's Maegan and Taylor, (Brad and Amanda's daughters) we don't have an inkling who they will be partnered with yet, so there are several more stories coming that will tempt us to throw our Kindles against a wall. I say BRING IT!

Saving You has it all-intrigue, steamy sex, and lots of witty banter. Both Libby and Luke are so hard headed and headstrong and both think they aren't good enough for the other. Their road is full of twists and turns and delicious angst. Kelly Elliott never fails to deliver a fantastic story and this one is vying for first place as my favorite right along with Saved!

"It was different because in that moment, I knew I wanted that with the girl who was sitting next to me. She wasn't only my best friend; she was the most beautiful girl I'd ever laid eyes on. The girl who made my heart stop with the sound of her voice."

EXCERPT:

“Do you remember the time we got grounded for talking Will into flying off the barn?”
Libby’s eyes met mine. She smiled so big it caused me to laugh. “I remember the time you talked me into talking my brother into soaring through the air.” She shook her head. “Poor, Will. He broke his arm and we were all so afraid to tell my mom.”
I watched as Libby moved across the kitchen. My heart began to beat stronger in my chest. She’s mine. She’s finally mine. Taking in a breath, I slowly let it out. “Do you know what I remember most about that time?”She continued to cut up the watermelon and put it into a bowl for us. “Will threatening to hurt you every single time he saw you?”
I chuckled. “Nah, that was funny though. I bet if we brought it up to him he’d still be pissed.” Libby giggled and nodded her head. “I remember sneaking out and coming to your house in the middle of the night. Tapping on your bedroom window and sitting under the stars, talking for hours.”
Libby stared into my eyes, smiling softly. “I remember that too. I used to lay in bed and pray so hard you would be there that night. Then, I’d hear you tap on my window and I would get giddy at the idea of sitting next to you on the roof. I remember if your body brushed against mine, I would get the silliest feelings in my stomach.” She looked down and then back at me. “I still do.”
Pushing the stool back, I walked over to Libby. Placing my hands in her hair, I pulled her head back and pressed my lips to hers. The kiss was passionate—filled with love, as we kissed each other like we hadn’t seen each other in days. I pulled back some and whispered against her lips. “I loved you then, Libby.”
Closing her eyes she barely spoke, “Never stop loving me, Luke.”
